Sorry Guys, I have been tuning out a lttile bit more on the season. Is Hawk gone from the booth next year?
-
My problems with Sanchez: 1. He does not walk at a good rate. 2. He does not steal any bases 3. He does not hit for any power. If Micah is healthy than he has to play. If he can bring that bat to the majors, the fielding will come with more reps.
-
What do you think Jeff Samardzija value at this point? 3/36? It would not surprise me if he accepts arbitration and tries to pitch better next year.
-
If anything it shows a different mentality of how the White Sox front office operates. I think a couple of years ago they make a splash. Now they have spent so much time improving their farm system they do not want to risk pieces for a rental. I would love them to go out and get a controlled asset but I am glad they didnt buy a rental.

I really like us to see if we can get Carlos Gonzalez. I really think he will be the best bat available this upcoming offseason. We might as well make a run at him now.
-
Clearly didn't have it today. Robin should of taken him out after the first two runners got on that inning.

If Shark stays then here is what I would do. Also, I would not be mad if White Sox traded him for a quality return if they feel they can't win a wild card. 1. Put Danks into the pen. Bring up Erik Johnson. If you go for it you should bring up your best players. EJ is probably an upgrade over Danks at this point. They should not DFA Danks just in case Johnson has a similar problem adjusting like 2014. 2. I would do this trade. Spencer Adams, Montas and Garcia for Cargo. I know most people think this is a ton but they also overvalue their own prospects as well. Montas is probably a future closer. It remains to be seen if he will develop the command to pitch in the majors. Adams is the hard piece to let go as he could be a future number 2 in a rotation. That future still is a ways off and things can happen in the few years. The truth is you have 3 pitchers who you plan to have till 2019. If the plan is to sign Shark long term than that leaves one rotation spot. The White Sox would figure to put both Fullmer and Johnson ahead of Montas or Spencer at this point. I would miss Spencer but I just don't see them doing a deal without him in it. Gonzalez would give the Sox something that have not had in awhile which is a left handed bat that can be in the middle of the order. The fact is this team still has a lack of quality position players both on the current roster and minor leagues. 3. I love Carlos Sanchez as I think he really does give you a major league at bat. I believe he could hit .300 one day and is a solid defender. I would consider bringing up Micah but only if you saw positive improvement on the defensive end. 4. Just a general comment. This team will not go anywhere unless Alexi improves his play.

I know everybody is talking about adding another bat but one quick fix would be bring up Erik Johnson up and putting Danks in the pen. Danks will probably not average a 4.50 ERA the rest of the way. Lets see if Johnson can give us something better out of the 5th slot.

Would you trade Rodon+Shark for Tulo?
-
I still they should sell. For one thing, Rodon is still an offseason away. Until he increases his stride the command issues will persist. They should have tried to clean it up last offseason.
-
He has definitely fallen out of favor with the Dodgers as Alberto Callaspo is ahead of him in the depth chart. Wait till Hector Olivera comes back from the DL. There will be no room for him on the team. If you read the article it says that he is going to be a great hitter but his fielding is unknown. There is definitely risk here but it he is high upside bat that we desperately need as it is illegal for a scout in our organization to scout a position player who hits.
-
I know that he has been discussed on this board but it seems like he would be a guy we may want to consider for third base as the organization has no directions at all for this position. I would trade Zach Putnum for Alex Guerraro straight up. The Dodgers need middle relief to get the ball to Jansen. Putnum is having a great season so far but does us no go as our team is not in contention. What do you guys think?
-
Here what I don't get about this rumor. Are the Mariners seriously considering putting Nelson Cruz and Dayan Viciedo in the outfield together. It just seems like a potential disaster for them.
-
I really dislike this trade but to be fair I do not know much about the prospects the Dodgers received in return. I heard they may take those prospects and flip them in the Rollins deal to include Hamels. Which would be hilarious cause that would screw the Red Sox over. The reasons I dislike it. 1. Not as high on Grandel as everybody seems to be. He is not very good defensively and offensively is just above average. 2. I would think the Dodgers would be able to flip Kemp to have somebody eat the whole salary and get a couple good prospects. 5 years 110 for a right handed power hitter is not bad at all. 3. If there is one place that will mitigate Kemp's value that would be San Diego. He will be exposed defensively.

White Sox acquire Dan Jennings for Andre Rienzo
kwill replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Three takeaways: 1. This means Rodon will probably start the year in the minors and come up in June. This makes me happy. 2. I wonder if they have picked this guy out before the meetings. Hahn already talked to Cooper about Jennings. I wonder if that conversation had before the meetings. 3. Is Kenny out of the loop on some things. Before the meeting started he said he expected Rodon to work in the bullpen then move to rotation next year. The moves done make me think Hahn felt otherwise. -
I would trade for Crawford then have Viciedo platoon for Larouche and Crawford. I don't want to give up on him yet. Crawford is still a very good fielder, could deepen the lineup and add some speed to the bottom of the lineup. Plus, he seems like a great guy in the clubhouse. He is not too old to be productive throughout the rest of the contract. I really think there is not much difference between Crawford and Melky.

1.I saw the Braves are going to Non-Tender both these guys. They both have surgery before last season. 2.The timetable for Tommy John Surgery Canidates is usually 12-14 months. One could imagine that both would be able to contribute to next seasons roster. 3. I would think they would be worth a flyers on with incentive laden deals. A team could probably give them two year deals. White Sox are in need of right handed starting pitching. At the very least, you could have them come out of the bullpen. 4. Both of them are in the prime of their careers so age is not a factor. The only negative is this is the second Tommy John Surgery for both of them. You wonder if the stuff will still be there. My Question Deal or No Deal?
-
Tomas needs to be the next addition to the club. Right handed power is the most valuable thing in the game now.
-
I know he had a horrid 2013. I know he had shoulder surgery. He is still Roy Halladay, the smart, veteran pitcher. We need a right handed pitcher. He may be a relatively low cost option on the right side. Kenny has flirted with him before, granted it was when he was the best pitcher in baseball. He could be a really good fourth or fifth starter on this rotation. You could never have enough pitching depth. If we are not looking to spend anymore money on long term signings he maybe a nice addition to the team.

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
kwill replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Here is my problem with a deal. It reminds me when we traded Sergio Santos for Nestor Molina. People were split 50/50 on weather Molina could actually become a starter. I thought having the best asset at the trading deadline would bring us back a close to sure thing. Obviously, prospects are never a sure thing, but something we could say "Hey, if he is not a super star, he will at least be somebody we can plug in everyday". I read in Dan Schoenfield's assestment of the deal is scouts love him but saber metrics people hate him. Could we at least have one player in our system that saber metrics doesn't hate. We have all these guys with loads of talent who don't walk and strikeout a ton. That is the exact problem with out current roster. Nobody can every get on base. But, I would give the White Sox some benefit if they actually have shown they could draft in the past. The problem is that they had one of the worst farm systems in baseball for quite sometime. I have no faith in the Sox scouting ability. If they were at least decent at picking out potential prospects, I would be able to hang my hate on something. Finally, I just wonder what the Sox would have gotten if Good Ol' JR would have some for thought and ate some cash. I am not saying a ton. A few million dollars. Hell, Don't spend it this offseason. But, at least let this team be able to build. I will root for Garcia. Who knows, he could turn into Miguel Cabrera. Right now, from the outside looking in, it just seems we got another Viciedo. -
Does anyone think we should hang onto Crain? I am actually not opposed to hanging onto him and trying to get an extension done. He has been one of the only guys to actually live up to his contract in a sox uniform. My thought is this, you should not trade him for a marginal prospect. I agree to trading him only if you actually get something that has value and not just a lottery pick. If you cant, see if you can get a deal done with him going forward. Look, if you are not going to do a complete rebuild with Sale then you are trying to compete next year or 2015. Reed,Jones and Crain are three tremendous assets to do that. The rotation figures to be pretty solid. It's our position players who are just awful. I am not saying don't trade him. I am saying just make sure you actually get value instead of trading him for the heck of it. The White Sox do that far to often. (Simon Castro)...

Sox turn down trade offer for Alexei from Cardinals
kwill replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Question: If the Cards offered Tavares,Wong,Martinez along with some lottery picks for Sale and Alexi would you take it? I would just on the pure upside of the deal. That would be three top 50 prospects and would probably make the White Sox a top 10 farm system right off the bat. -
Why would the Braves trade Jason Heyward? He was the top prospect in baseball a few years ago. He still has a huge amount of upside and few more years under team control. I think you are over estimating the value of Peavy. He will get a decent package back but nothing close to Heyward.
-
I would be intrigued by a package that would start with Kris Medlan. The guy kind of has fallen out of favor. He has put solid K/9 numbers in the past. If you could take him on with a few mid level prospects that would be an intriguing package.
