Why would the Rays trade Archer in their own division with them being 4.5 games back from the division and 1 game out of the Wild Card. That would deject their current roster and fan base. If Archer gets moved, I would think it would be to the west coast to either Dodgers or Rockies who could offer a premium package. Yankees and White Sox all along would make for a good marriage as long as the White Sox are realistic in what they get back. They would be doing good to get Frazier, Andujar, and Kaprielian. All three have big ceilings with some risk. At this point both Frazier and Andujar are top 100 guys with Kaprielian being a wild card with TJ.

Feel pretty confident Archer goes to the Yankees for a huge package. Tanaka got bashed yet again. Wainwright got destroyed as well. Cards in interesting position with Cubs scuffling. If we trade him I want an Andrew Miller Type return with 2 top 100 and a lottery ticket coming back. He is in the class of Chapman, Kimbrel, and Miller. You can make the case he does not close and has not done it for as long but you can see the adjustment he made and the stuff has always been there. If you truly believe that he is legit than you don't settle for anything less. Willie Calhoun is a nice bat but he does not have a position and plays in Vegas which inflates the Home Run Totals.

It really is amazing how patient the White Sox have been with Hansen. It will be interesting to see how well he performs in Class A Advance seeing that Dunning was putting up video game numbers in Kannapolis and has since "cooled off" in Winston Salem.

I just had the same thought. I hope Shields replaces Holmberg in the rotation with Holmberg returning to the pen as a long reliever. He has done an excellent job but they are asking a great amount of innings from the bullpen. We really don't have a starter who consistently goes deep into games with Quintana struggling and Rodon yet to make his debut. On a different point, I am interested to see what they do with the likes of Gonzalez, Holland and Shields at the deadline. I think the Sox would be smart to find a team who would take a salary dump for Shields. Hopefully, He performs well enough to be dealt. Holland could probably net a lottery ticket or 2. I think Arizona could be a good match for him. I would love to see Jordan Guerrero, Tyler Danish, Reynaldo Lopez and Matt Cooper all get shots at starting at some point this year even if it is only a few start for some of them.

Its nice to see Hansen do well but he should be blowing these guys away. I thought he should have started in High A.

Who do you think gets the call first Fulmer or Lopez?

I wanted to see what others thought of Jacob May. He like Tilson has an injury riddled past but is having a solid spring training. I know Spring Training are tainted given the small sample size and pitchers are often working on certain things. He is a 25 year old prospect that has some very good tools. He has never really put up the stats to be given a shot at a major league spot but who are we kidding, what is the downside of giving him the nod at centerfield? If this season has anything going for it is that you afforded to give opportunities to guys who normally would be stuck as career minor leaguers. Peter Bourjos is not exactly a viable long term solution. What is amazing about May is that he has never had any power to his game. He plays solid defense and can steal some bases. He does not have terrible strikeout numbers in the minor leagues sporting a 22.4% K percentage last year. The real knock on his game is that he just has no power with only 3 home runs in 750 at bats the past 2 season. I look at his size 5-10/180 according to Fangraphs which this would make sense given his low power numbers. I decided to take a look at his twitter page and some of the pictures out of camp. May looks pretty solidly built with muscle. It could be his swing path is more for grounders given his speed. I still have faith with Fulmer but he definitely needs better fastball location. His delivery has so many moving parts that he needs more reps at the lower levels for his age. I still think he can be a number 3 at some point.

Does anybody else feel like Quintana maybe worth more in June? It seems like that time a year when teams will be the more desperate. Astros having a slow start. Yankees having a good start. Pirates having a good start. Even the Cubs get off to a bad start or have a pitcher go down for a signifcant amount of time. I can see them waste a year while Bryant and Rizzo are in there prime.

God the Yankees rotation is hot garbage. I don't think they can really go anywhere even if they get Q.

I get the feeling if he is not traded by Soxfest we are going to camp with him. I am perfectly alright with that. It seems many don't believe in Quintana for whatever reason. I see him as a modern day Cliff Lee. He control the strike zone with great fastball location and has two good secondary pitches. I think if the Sox liked Frances Martes the deal would be done. Fact is many around the industry are not sold on him. If the Astros refuse to trade Bregman than you really don't have a front line piece Houston can give you.

I think the Cubs make perfect sense to trade for Quintana. The backend of the rotation is not all that good. 4th stater-Lackey is 38 years old and one year left. 5th Stater- Tyson Ross as best. A guy that may or may not be good after arm surgery. He already has issues with command in San Diego. Mike McGomery- A career reliever who is really good in long relief but who knows how he will hold throughout the season. And very rarely does a team go without using 6 or 7 different starting pitchers. Arrieta and Lackey will most likely walk. I could see the Cubs making a push for Darvish. I could also see them look at a guy like Archer with 5 years of control pretty appealing especially given his success in the American League. I do find it hard to believe the Cubs go into the season without picking up another arm.
