  1. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:02 PM) FWIW---- Red Sox in rain delay. DD came on pregame and said no trades are close. Said they would like to upgrade 3B and keep Devers down in AAA. Doesn't think they will address bullpen but said that could change closer to the deadline. Well that just cold water on this situation. I don't know where the Robertson thing came from either.
  2. BTW, Matt Wieters 80/83 rank in pitch framing according to Baseball Prospectus. That is really bad. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable...php?cid=1899516 Side Note: Avoid looking at #1
  3. Tell me what you think of this three team deal: Nationals Receive: Tommy Kahlne Carson Kelly Cardinals Receive: Avi Garcia David Robertson Cash White Sox Receive: Victor Robles Delvin Perez Austin Gomber(Or another future reliever type) or Dakota Hudson Nationals Do It: They receive another cost control arm out of the bullpen because really they only have the two reliable ones they acquired today. This would add a third arm out of the pen for their playoff run. Kelly provides them with an excellent backup catcher option this year with the ability to be controlled for the next 6 years. If the Nationals believe Soto can truly be a great outfielder than this lessens the sting of losing Robles. One thing I will say for the Cubs is that Theo understands that windows only last for so long. Nationals next two years are probably at their peak even if Harper stays. Scherzer is at peak performance, Strausberg is healthy, and all of your position players are playing peak levels like Zimmerman and Rendon. Turner will be back for the playoffs. You have to make your run now in the next 2 years before everybody gets expensive. Young players can only offset costs so much. Nationals Don't Do It: They really love Victor Robles and feel like they are going to lose Harper. Their timelines would be seamless transitions. They don't believe Carson Kelly will be a standout backstop like projected. Cardinals Do It: The Cardinals are cash strapped and really don't have too much positional talent in the near future besides Kelly. Unfortunately, The franchise was dumb and decided to give Molina a 3/60 million dollar extension in the offseason. This blocks your best positional talent for the next 3 years which leaves me to believe you are willing to trade him. You believe that the real Avi Garcia is having a coming out season and will provide the necessary hitting in the outfield that you are drastically missing. He provides cost control in the outfield for the next 2.5 years while you try to build up your farm system. This is important as you have too much money tied into next season to make a legitimate run at a quality outfielder like JD Martinez or Lorenzo Cain. The Cardinals would not have to give up any of their premium pitching talent in Reyes, Weaver or Flaherty. Perez although a great talent is still in Rookie Ball and is continuing to have make up concerns. Cardinals Don't Do It: They don't believe in Garcia that much and would rather save that chip for a better item in the offseason. Although getting a closer is nice, Paying Robertson 13 million for only the 1.5 is not that great of a bargain. White Sox Do It: White Sox get Victor Robles to pair with Eloy Jimenez in the future. They have roughly the same timeline to the majors which is important. Robles would provide the White Sox with three of the top positional prospects in baseball. Perez is definitely a wild card that may not produce but he does provide a middle of the field prospect that is probably the one weakness outside of Moncada in the system. They should probably get another player in this deal as they are trading three major league players in this deal. The easiest way to tank is a bad bullpen. This would lead them down a path of a top 3 pick in 2018. White Sox Don't Do IT: They are trading three major trade assets on the board for only three minor leaguers. You really are banking on Robles hitting and whatever else you get from the deal is gravy. This would be the last trade of the rebuild. Their could be concern of having so many young starting pitchers and not having a bullpen to protect their leads could be demoralizing. In total a three team deal is extremely hard to complete but ya never know.
  4. Could be for DeGrom.
  5. I honestly think their is no way Panda is coming to the Southside. What I do think is happening is how much cash considerations is being sent over with Frazier.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 09:48 PM) I'm sticking with C.J. Chatham as being the primary piece coming our way. Agreed. Why move him so early if the return is not at the top end of what you want? We need more middle infielders in the system.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 14, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) Is he on the f***ing field at the moment? Just catching up on the game thread. This f***ing was great.
  8. I think its time to see what Fulmer could do as a high leverage reliever.
  9. You know this really stinks. The silver lining is that he was pretty well developed and won't need much time in the minors when he gets back. At the point the White Sox will be good and we can take full advantage of his service time. I am trying to look at it positively.
  10. Does anybody know if we have a shot at getting a competitive balance pick if we suck enough. On MLB they say it is a formula including standing and revenue generated but really don't go into further detail.
  11. Hey Guys, I have now listened to both Rick Hahn and Theo Epstein explain how the deal went down. They both told very similar versions of the story. Link For Epstein Version: http://www.csnchicago.com/video/how-cubs-w...e-came-fruition What I find very interesting is who was making the trades. It was Hahn texting Theo for the deal to happen. It shows the difference in how the clubs although structured the same but are run differently. It seems like Hahn and Theo were the ultimate deal makers. I am sure Kenny signed off just like I am sure Hoyer was consulted before the deal got done. It seems like Kenny has a more hands off approach with Hahn and who could blame as he does seem to know what he is doing. Not only is he one of the best negotiators at signing young talent early but he is proving quite the deal maker as well. The second thing that is interesting is that is seemed like Epstein was surprised that the White Sox were as willing to make a deal with the Cubs.

Also, When did Acuna get bumped to AAA? They really bring up their players fast in Atlanta.
  13. kwill replied to Heads22's topic in FutureSox Board
Sure got those boys to their new teams fast. It looks like all of them are starting.
  14. My second thought. Does anyone ever think about that rumored December three team trade involving the Pirates, Yankees and White Sox? I just wonder was Aaron Judge a second piece to that deal? Damn what could have been.
  15. I look at the White Sox Pitching Prospects as 2 waves 2017/2018 1. Lopez 2. Kopech 3. Giolito 4. Guerrero 5. Stephens 2018/2019 1.Dunning 2.Hansen 3.Cease 4.Flores I would expect the White Sox to add one more to this group by the July 31st deadline. Also, Put me in the category that Kahlne gets traded for a good package now. I think with what happend to Jones you realize how quickly value could evaporate. Many of us thought that Jones could have equal value to Robertson.
  16. Can not stop rooting for this guy. He will be the best starting pitcher in the second half for them and lead their staff to a division title.
  17. Am I the only one that doesn't have a connection to the upper brass for these trade negotiations? Edit: Bruce Levine and I.
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 06:53 PM) Brian Bilek‏ @BrianBilek_ Mulitple teams have been involved in the talks for Quintana: MIL, ATL, HOU, NY, COL & more I'm sure. My opinion/guess: #Brewers. If this is true that all of these teams are in on Quintana that is only a really great thing. I can't see Hahn giving Hostetler the object of getting hitter who don't strikeout often in the draft then turn around and trade for Corey Ray as a headliner for his greatest asset. I think their must be a good idea that Brinson is involved. It would not surprise me if Hader is the second piece with the Brewers believing he is more of a reliever than a starter. I still believe the Yankees have to be in on this as they had talks in the winter and are up against that 40 man crunch. They could get a deal done without Frazier or Torres.
  19. My Plan. Trade Avi Garcia, Tommy Kahlne for Adrian Gonzalez, Alex Verdugo, Willie Callhoun, Will Smith and Starling Heredia. Dodgers Do It: They get to add depth to their pen which is good but struggled last year in the playoffs. Garcia would provide them with average to above average play in left field with cheap cost. Both Garcia and Kahlne are cost controlled for 2 more years. They get Adrian Gonazalez and his 22 million dollars off of there books for next year and drops them below the luxury tax. Bellinger can stay at his natural position of first base. White Sox Do It: They get 2 Top 100 players in Verdugo and Callhoun. Smith probably projects as a decent backup catcher in the future. Heredia is the flyer of the group at 18 years old you really don't know what he will end up being. White Sox have very little committed to 2018 so they could afford to have Gonzalez eating up a good portion of the team salary. Why It Wont Happen: JR is not paying that dough for a guy to sit on the bench and drink martinis. Trade David Robertson for Carter Keiboom and Jesus Luzardo. Nationals Do It: Because the Nationals need a closer and he is the best one on the market. The White Sox don't touch any of their untouchables in Robles, Soto or Fedde. White Sox Do It: Both players are a ways off from contributing but could be starters in the future. Beyond Moncada the White Sox are pretty bare when it comes to athletic infielders. Why It Won't Happen: Because people are idiots. I have seen this proposal from multiple Sox Talkers and yes this should be the price. Kieboom is not even a top 100 prospect yet. This price is more than fare. Trade Jose Quintana and Todd Frazier plus Cash to Astros for Kyle Tucker, Forest Whitley, Feudis Nova and Frambar Perez. Astros Do It: If there is one thing the Astros are lacking it would be another starter for them in the playoffs. Quintana could offer them a starter with cost control for the next 3 years after this one. Frazier makes sense as he could be an alternate to Gurriel, Bregman and Beltran. All three have underperformed this year. White Sox Do It: The White Sox get a top 15 prospect in Kyle Tucker and intriguing pitching prospect in Whitley. The other two guys are lottery tickets. Why It Won't Happen: The Astros will turn to A's for Gray that will have a lesser asking price even though it will hurt them in the playoffs.
  20. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 30, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) Well said! So many. Any other teams rival the Sox in pitching depth? Atlanta still has the best pitching depth in the minors. The Sox are not far behind though.
  21. You know I really do think it is time to see Reynaldo. I am huge fan of him and think that with some Cooper instruction he could be an a top level arm. I am extremely glad how the White Sox have taken it slow with him and most of the prospects this year compared to years past but I think it is time for him to come to the majors as he ready for his next step in development.
  22. Thanks for the heads up.
  23. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 21, 2017 -> 09:11 PM) I'm sure plenty of teams will come calling about Avi and some one will likely pay for way he is producing right now, so I'd start the conversation with St. Louis asking for Kelly You have to figure that they are ready to deal Kelly as they signed Molina to a 3/60 million dollar deal. I don't know why they did that but they did. Beyond the Cardinals though, I can't really figure another team that has a deep enough farm system and willing to part with the prospects. A team could always go with a short term rental like McCutchen as the Pirates will most likely deal him at the deadline. He is controllable for more year after this season.
  24. I think that at this point you have to be hopeful that he is a high leverage reliever who is being used as a starter and wearing down as the season progresses. In the draft their was a thought that his small stature may lend to that type of pitcher. I wonder if you put him on the Disabled List and let him catch his breath a bit. Then you could have him come back in the pen for the rest of the season. He may be pissed at this but it seems that could be best for the player long term.
  25. QUOTE (BamaDoc @ Jun 19, 2017 -> 03:35 PM) I think when the midseason rankings come out, the differences between these players will narrow and some may even switch. I would just like to see moves being made because I am bored and I understand a bad move is worse than no move. If Frazier goes, I think you get to evaluate Davidson in the field over time and see what Delmonico's bat might look like at DH. I agree with this as Fowler was a legit prospect coming into this year. He has only continued on his success this year. He is probably a Top 75 Prospect if not higher. Also, He plays centerfield which would be nice for the Sox. Something to note is Andujar did get promoted to AAA yesterday. He too would be a huge get as he is probably rated the best defensive 3B in the minors right now.
