QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) I don't the Sox get much in the way of prospects for Robertson or Frazier maybe use one to get a pre-arb catcher who can actually catch. I actually think that Frazier is an extension candidate if he wants to stay through the rebuild. Reasoning: Right now people want to underpay because he had a bad year. My belief is at some point in a new contract you will have an opportunity to trade him. His defense will likely improve making him probably in the range of a 3 WAR player. We have currently no replacement in the system. This will give them time to develop somebody. Turner got 4/64. I would assume Frazier gets under that, 4/55-60. Pretty reasonable deal. Downside: He is in his prime and will be leaving by the contact ends. Paying for 2 years where we will not be competitive.

The more I am looking at the market, the more the Rockies look like the best trading partner. A Quintana and Robertson package seems to be in order for a Rodgers, Tapia, Marquez and Feeland package. Sox seem to like to get positional prospects that are close to being ready. They get 2 in this deal. Also, 2 lottery ticket arms who could be useful in the long run. Rockies. Get a number one starter and a closer. Their bullpen was not very good last year. They get to keep there two best pitching prospects. I am not high on either.

So now that the Dodgers just dropped about 150 million dollars today we can take them out of the discussion of giving a s*** about how much money they spend. Teams as dollars on dollars.

QUOTE (Sockin @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:31 PM) Turner back to the Dodgers so cross them off. Jon Morosi @jonmorosi Justin Turner’s deal with #Dodgers, when complete, expected to be 4 years. @Ken_Rosenthal just reported LA close on Turner and Jansen. @MLB Both deals are done. Jansen back to the Dodgers 5/80 Million per Rosenthal. Damn, Dodgers with all of their million of dollars. That is one trade partner thrown in the toilet. I wonder if the the White Sox turn to the Mets and Nats to see if they will play off of each other. I suspect the Nats are done dealing with the White Sox though.

QUOTE (JUSTgottaBELIEVE @ Dec 9, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) Who is beating out Giolito and Lopez for the #4 and #5 SP spots? Shields and Fulmer? Also, didn't Boston already start Moncada's clock last season? If so, what's the gain to starting him in the minors? There is no way they put Giolito or Lopez in the opening day rotation. This is why you pick up 2 veteran starters to get smashed around the park.Ivan Nova, Derek Holland, and Tyson Ross all make sense to give 1/1 deals to if they are willing to accept.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 11:07 PM) The Sox aren't trading Quintana to Astros without getting Tucker back IMO. I personally think this is just posturing so Luhnow can eventually tell Hahn "fine, fine, I can't give you Bregman but I can do something with Tucker". At some point I see this trade getting done. Given their situation, a TOR starter is just too valuable to pass on over a prospect 2+ years out. I tend to agree but if this really their stance than screw them. The great thing about this rebuild is that you don't have to trade Quintana now. We can keep him and trade him at the deadline. If you don't think team will be all over a controllable Ace at the deadline, you need to look back at the past deadlines what teams have given up. I don't think the Astros win their division if they don't add another arm. -

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 06:30 PM) Question for the board. What if Houston caved in and said they would trade Bregman but the trade would be Bregman for Q straight up. Would ya do it? I would not do it. I know how Quintana will perform in the next 5 years, I have no idea what Bregman will do. This is why you need to get multiple prospects to limit the chances of giving Quintana away for just a decent mlb player. -
Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
kwill replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
He said he is a number on conversations with other teams but he does not expect a deal to be done between now and by the time he picks up his bag at the airport. I think he is done at the Winter Meetings. He takes a steps back. The free agent market being really unsettled at the meetings is probably slowing down the trade market. If I would suspect that Jansen and Turner need to sign before a true deal can be made. Clearly The Dodgers seem like the next logical trade destination. I do think Jansen signs back with the Dodgers. Marlins offer has been sitting there for awhile now. If he wanted to go there, he would have signed by now. Even still, I think Robertson actually has a larger trade market than Frazier which to me is weird. You could legit have Red Sox, Dodgers, Mets and Rockies all of have interest in Robertson. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 8, 2016 -> 12:27 AM) Wouldn't cost the Dodgers a pick Dodgers would get a supplemental pick if another team signed him. So in theory, it would.
-
If I am the Dodgers I am calling the White Sox up riight now. Jansen would cost 80/5 million dollars and a supplemental pick. Robertson- 25/2 million dollars. Probably 2 top prospects in a loaded system. The White Sox would probably do Lux and and Barnes.
-
This is good news for the Sox. Now Jansen needs to go to the Marlins. Hopefully, The dodgers will come knocking for Robertson because the closer market will look pretty bleak.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 09:29 PM) It's just a weird market for power hitters right now. What happend to Jose Bautistas market? I mean damn the guy will be lucky to get 3/50. -
Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go

I think people underestimate the value of Frazier. I still think its possible to get 1-Top 100 Prospect and a lottery ticket for him or 2-Top 150 Prospects. Is it just me or is there just not a whole lot of top free agents signing happening. Encarcion, Chapman, Jansen, Turner all have not signed. Its strange to me. I think the big markets want to stay under the luxury tax for at least this year and its really hurting the market. Their are some good deals to be had. -

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) Why depth? The Sox have depth in the low to mid minors but not much to speak of that is somewhat close to MLB ready. I just don't think they have the caliber of the top level guys that the Red Sox and Nationals did. -

Have to figure Tucker and Reed are involved. This will have to be a depth package. -
Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
kwill replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is as solid of a haul as the White Sox were going to get. Yes, he was a 6 WAR player but he is tapped out on potential. Defensive metrics can very strongly year to year as well. We got two top 30 prospects. I am so pleased with the start of this offseason. You can make the case that with these two trades the White Sox have the best system in baseball. I would say we could only half done with the sell off. I get that these are only prospect but I have always been of the fandom that its always easier to watch a young team fail then an old team. -

Any chance the Nats are now using the White Sox to drive down the price on Cutch? You have to be both a giver and receiver at times. -
Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
kwill replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
More than likely the Sox leave with just making the Sale trade. I don't know about you guys but it seems to me that you will not get premier value for Quintana or Abreu in this market. I would hold them for mid-season or next offseason to trade. The guys I deal are Eaton, Frazier, Robertson and Jones. Jones would even be worth keeping if you believe he can close games for you. His value would sky rocket if he can be as successful as closer as he has been in middle relief. -
QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) I'd be happy with Barnes and Lux, that is probably to steep still. I would be happy with that in return and really it is not all the unreasonable of a return. I still think if Jansen and Turner sign elsewhere the Dodgers will turn to the White Sox for a Frazier and Robertson package.

kwill replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I just get the feeling the next guy they want out is Eaton. He put up monster defensive peripherals last year. He probably peaked on his value. I wonder if they want his attitude around for the rebuild. It would not surprise if they hang onto Quintana until the deadline or next year. Frazier and Robertson trade market wont develop until some of the other free agents are gone. I think Abreu has a real chance to be more valuable at the deadline than at this point in time. -
QUOTE (RaySox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:40 PM) Definitely enough, not sure if the Dodgers would do it Yeah. I think that would gut the Dodgers system pretty bad. I still think somehow the Dodgers are a match with the White Sox. If Jansen signs else where a Robertson+Frazier combo makes sense for them.
-
De Leon+Bellinger+Lux+Puig+ 2 Top 15 From System Prospects=Eaton+Frazier+Robertson. Is that enough?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
kwill replied to GGajewski18's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Am I the only one who would like to keep Quintana at least for another year? I would trade everyone else but I expect the Sox window to start to be 2019 and beyond. Plus, I would like to watch a few games next year. -
QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) I think the next domino to fall is Jansen. If he goes to the Marlins then the relief market gets very bare. I think the Dodgers will stay away from Chapman as a bidding war would be costly. Robertson becomes a very interesting play here as well. I still think the Dodgers trade De Leon with the Hill signing. They have plenty of depth in the rotation. If they could get a package back that has Frazier+Robertson= De Leon+ Lux+ Smith. I think you are in the ballpark.
