Official NFL Season Predictions

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) Tomlinson played the whole season with a bad groin. He would've gone for 5.0 + if he had been 100%. Dont compare Jones to any good HB in the NFL. He's a bust. did you even read that I also said Tomlinson is the best back in the NFL? I don't feel like repeating my posts from before, but Jones was a borderline bust, but he played pretty GOOD in Tampa Bay, came to Chicago, and did damn good without the help of a competent offensive line OR a passing game. those backs you've mentioned didn't play on teams that were desperate enough to sign Jeff George or start a 38 year old Chris Chandler or Craig Krenzel. -

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) We'll see how Culpepper does without Randy Moss; I think they'll finish below #15 in offense. No Smith, No Moss. Not too mention how often get Bennett gets hurt. Culpepper is a good QB, but he isnt good enough to win a division with a rookie as his #1. The Defense on that team was terrible. No matter what you say. They were piss-poor, 2 good players. They still have 2. Smoot is solid, Sharper is too old, Pat Williams can only play 1/2 the downs. Not to mention they have one of the worst LB trios in the league. Culpepper won't do as good without Moss, but Culpepper's no Jeff George, either. Burleson is his #1. he's not a rookie, he's in his 3rd year now. they HAD 2 players, then they ADDED 2 players. that gives them 4, and Sharper's old but better than what they had, and their LB corps is actually pretty solid with Cowart, Harris, and Thomas, who could have a big year. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 10:35 AM) And the Bears want to get a good jump out of the blocks, having Thomas Jones as the RB probably won't help their chances much. Thomas Jones was their lone bright spot last year, and the only threat. his numbers are great considering he had no O-line, and the passing game could best be described as a "bluff" so teams didn't stack 10 at the line every play.

the most encouraging pitch (to me) was when he painted the outside corner with the curveball. if he can show that he's capable of working a corner, he will be up there with the elite closers.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 01:15 AM) Ozzie is full of s*** on this one. He's been very good, but MVP? Nope. Probably fluff praise anyways Iguchi's numbers have been suffering, but he's given up a lot of outs to move runners over, the type of thing that doesn't show up in the box score but actually hurts what's in the box score, so it seems that Guillen is just trying to build Gooch's confidence. but Iguchi has really been the perfect #2 hitter this year.

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:41 AM) Wirtz always has said he doesn't show home games out of respect to his season tickket holders... now not only is that the most insane statement ever but the question is now....How many season ticket holders do you still have $Bill?? see that's the kind of crap I was talking about a few posts ago, I'd rather he tell the truth, because nobody's buying what he's saying now.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 10:29 AM) It makes me scratch my head how fans can profess loyalty to a team where the owner has been f***ing them over for years. Here's a news flash for the 2 dozen or so Blackhawk fans still left. Dollar Bill wont change his ways unless you stop giving him your money!! He wont change anything he's doing now because there are still enough suckers showing up at the UC for him to turn a profit. The only way Dollar Bill will change is if the fans stop coming. You want change you need to stay at home and make that asshole feel it in his wallet. I guarantee you if you people stay home and only about 5000 or less people show up to watch the Hawks get shut out at home......again.........things will get better. I refuse to go to the games because of Wirtz, and a lot of people have done the same, but just imagine how bad of a team he will put out there when he starts to feel it in his wallet and spends even less. hell what's wrong with these owners, Steinbrenner and Cuban pay a lot in salaries (and extras), and they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves.
-
I hate the Wirtz family, they're as bad of owners there are in sports. they stumble across owning an Original 6 team, and refuse to give them a chance. not only do they not pay for any players, they pull some bulls*** on the fans to prevent them from watching home games on TV, then charge too much for tickets. what pisses me off most is they say things like "Everyone has their own point of view and we have ours." I wish they'd cut the crap and say "Well, I've found that if I put a crappy team on the ice, and blackout home games to force the fans to buy overpriced tickets, I can make more money for myself", because he's really not fooling anybody.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Their payroll was higher in 1993 than it is right now. That's sad. right now they're at $36M. nearly $10M less than the left side of the Yankees' infield.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:50 PM) They're too drunk to be depressed. that sounds about right.
-
QUOTE(rudylaw @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:49 PM) Its just baseball. Our team will go through some similar in the next decade I'm sure they don't spend. at all. just who did they bring in over the offseason? Terrance Long? they give that "rebuilding" excuse, let me ask you, who better to rebuild with than a 27 year old 5-tool centerfielder?
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) How depressing would it be to be a die hard KC Royals fan? they've probably all hung themselves by now.
-
QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) your up 5-1 you dont steal the guy after that long 1st inning, 5-1 doesn't seem as safe a lead as it should.
-
QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:35 PM) Wonder why Joe didn't try to bare hand it. probably figured he had no chance. I'd have liked to see him try, though, because Matt Stairs' speed rivals Konerko.
-
QUOTE(Soxpranos @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) heard Fressy sau he doesnt feel lose in the st inning, dont you think they will make him throw some more warm up pitches or start a little eraly to losen your damn arm? that would be the logical solution, so no.

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:45 PM) Kinda like the Redskins and Dan Snyder; eh? Yea. See how that works out for them. Incohesiveness will sink them.. theyll finish last. the Vikings situation is nothing like the Redskins. they'd been bad for years and adding free agents didn't help. the Vikings were a great offensive team with no defense, now they're a good offensive team with a solid defense. that'll get them 2 more wins than last year. -

QUOTE(DukeNukeEm @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:48 PM) Dont feed me OL B.S. Good players succeed when they have nothing. Tomlinson tore it up (again) with Shane Olivea at LT for the Bolts. Ha. How have Buffalo HB's fared? Henry, now McGahee. Who do they have on that pathetic excuse of an OL? Jones = Trash. You will never sway my mind on that until he can stay healthy and put up 1200+ Ru. yards. Tomlinson rushed for 3.9 yards/carry. Henry carried for 4.4 and 4.1 in 02 and 03, and McGahee 4.0 yards/carry. Jones had 4.0, missed 2 games and split a bunch of carries with Anthony Thomas. and besides, Tomlinson is arguably the best running back in the NFL. so in years past when he rushed for more yards per carry, he was succeeding with nothing. I'd say great players succeed when they have nothing, and Thomas Jones is not a great player. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 12:39 PM) 7.) Other than Ortiz and Ramirez. They really have nobody offensively. yeah, other than Ortiz, Ramirez, Damon, Varitek, Nixon, Renteria and Mueller, they REALLY have nobody offensively.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 09:46 AM) Kevin Millar continues to act like a f***ing dips***. Wow, who would have ever guessed his numbers would go down once steroids were banned from the game? I was told a few years ago he was one of the biggest abusers in baseball. Millar said nothing wrong (here). not too many people are convinced Hermanson can close (I was convinced after he got that save vs. Detroit when Pudge hit that lead-off triple), and he was right about Dye, Konerko, and Thomas.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:54 PM) I'll admit things look good for the Bear's D, but they still have a long way to go on offense. Benson is a rookie and Jones is a previously part time player who missed several games last year. I don't think those two add up to an above average running game this year. Thomas Jones is a career underacheiver and a former high-first round pick who has never had a solid offensive line to run behind. he was our lone bright spot on offense last year, but this team desperately needs an O-line. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 10:00 PM) I just feel those seem like big IF's. I can potentially see the Bears as high as second in the division with an 8-8 record. But I have an inkling that the Lions may finally put it together this year, as one of those QB's will have a solid season. I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see Garcia starting and having a big season at some point. 8-8 sounds about right for the Bears, they got a weak scheduele, but they're a few years away from not being a weak team, because they have major problems on the O-Line and receiving corps. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Jul 22, 2005 -> 11:41 PM) Vikings? You're kidding right? Vikings?! they added Fred Smoot, Darren Sharper, and Napolean Harris to their D, and their D-Line is pretty solid. Culpepper won't post any numbers like last year, but the Vikings won't have to rely soly on offense anymore. -

hate to sound pessimistic, but I think those sellouts were mainly the Red Sox bandwagon, er, I mean Red Sox Nation. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) My personal favorite is when people suggest we should trade PK to the Reds in order to get Griffey Jr. those people have never heard of Sean Casey.
-
QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jul 23, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) The last couple days have brought these thread gems: - Trade Konerko so Dye can play 1st. - Fire Joey Cora, he sucks - Bench Tadahito Iguchi so Willie Harris can start - Joe Crede's defense sucks - Our team is like 2003-2003-2004, no heart - We will lose the division to the Twins After reading all the posts and going over the facts and stats, I have come to this conclusion: No one on this team can make a mistake, no matter how great they've been all year. No one can be in a slump, no matter how many times they've helped us win No one can make errors after not making any for months There is a strong and vocal community who does NOT believe in this team, it's players or it's coaches. They don't like this team and are looking at every excuse to bash them. 30+ games over in July .500 doesn't matter "It could be better" One of top defenses in MLB, doesn't matter "Did you see that play last night..etc" Top pitching in the League , doesn't matter. Top team in steals & sacrifices, doesn't matter 11 game lead in the division in July, doesn't matter Scored 459 runs...6th in the AL Given up 375 runs...1st in AL. 2nd in MLB!!! Thats why we win Folks!!! If we were playing poorly, I'd understand. If this team wasn't doing playing good, solid fundemental baseball, I'd understand. If we were playing selfish, I'd understand. BUT WE ARE NOT DOING THAT. So, I don't understand. So I ask why... All I can say is, I watch the games. I see how they play. I see the emotion, the heart and the guts they give every night. That's why were winning. Can we be better...sure no team is perfect. But does the house have to be destroyed so we can build a new one? No. Can another bullpen arm help. Yes Can another Starter help when we fragile in that area physically. Yes. Can a versitile bench player help. Yes. Do we need to replace half the team and it's coaching staff. NO In closing, your Honor, I demand the White Sox of 2005 be found NOT GUILTY of sucking and any reference to them or a specific team member sucking without provication or adequate facts to support that be mocked to the fullest extent of the law! This fan rests. by the way, I agree with everything you said.
