Grossman's Season Basically Over
AirScott replied to DukeNukeEm's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) You breathe on Grossman wrong and he gets hurt............time to move on. these are just unfortunate injuries, it's not like Grossman sprained his ankle last year and missed 13 weeks. hopefully he only takes the 3 months, and not 4, because we still really haven't seen what he can do. he gets put on a higher pedastal because of how s***ty Dr. Jonathan Quinn did last year. -

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) How do you know this? What has the Bears organization shown you to let you know Orton won't play this season. That is, what has the Bears--the team with the most starting QBs for the past five seasons--shown you to make you think they won't start a fourth round rookie? if Hutchinson doesn't play well in the first 4 weeks, Orton probably will get a shot. you're right, the Bears have shown us they will. hell, me and my buddy were bored last night, so we ended up running down all the starting QBs the Bears used since Jim McMahon left. our final count (just off the top of our heads) was 14. this was everyone from Jim Harbaugh to Erik Kramer to Steve Walsh, then guys like Moses Moreno and Craig Krenzel. I still think there were more, though. -
QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 14, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) What about Tim Couch? is he in THAT bad of shape? He atleast is young enough to bounce back into some semblance of a career. we've tried enough washed-up QBs, why not a bust? why not sign Tim Couch or Akili Smith? maybe try out Eric Crouch, he'd want to play QB.

QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 11, 2005 -> 09:29 PM) T.O. is a piece of s***. "I don't need to talk to Donovan, I know how to play football...I don't need to talk to Andy Reid, I know how to play football." :banghead "My name is not Terrell Reid, he's not my mom I don't have to listen to him." how can you not get along with Donovan McNabb? you saw them last summer, it's like Drew Rosenhaus has turned TO against McNabb, to get TO traded. TO is like the kid in middle school, who becomes friends with the popular kid (in this case, Drew Rosenhaus), and becomes a jerk and alienates himself from his former friends.

QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 10, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) but did you know that "life is an open road"? I truly hate that song. I'd be a lot happier if they played "On the Road Again", or "This Land is Your Land, This Land is My Land". the song they have now will haunt my dreams for years.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) I've always loved Paul Konerko. 4-1! this from the president of the "Hey, Konerko. Enjoy the obscene contract you sign in the offseason with some team that is stupid enough to give you it, you fat f***ing waste of space selfish prick" Club.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Konerko's taken 2 balls right down the chute, let's see what happens. a missle to left...YESS!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) Blalock to the White Sox? Seriously though, that'd be awesome. so would all the superstars in the NFL deciding to take huge paycuts to sign with the Bears and go 16-0, but I don't think it's happening.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) The Rangers must be packing it in. Haven't they already realized that more offense won't get them anywhere without pitching? Yes, I know Park isn't good, but why take another expensive offensive weapon? This must also be opening the door for another trade, since they already have Teixeira at 1B and Dellucci (I think) at DH. really why would they want Nevin, unless they've found another suitor? he can also play 3rd, but the Rangers have got Blalock. seriously, the Rangers run a terrible organization, if they didn't have a big budget and that infield they'd be the Royals.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Juan's. Defense. Is. So. Good. who was saying earlier we should bench him for Ozuna? watching this game (and pretty much every other game Juan plays) is evidence that we should not.

QUOTE(DMoneyIsMine @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:13 PM) everyone says, shingo wasn't gettin it done, good, we got jenks. a. is jenks a good pitcher, and will he hurt the chemistry of this team? the reason the white sox are where they are is because of flawless chemistry, don't forget that. b. was shingo our weakest pitcher, or was it possibly luis or damaso? c. will a.j. burnett hurt the chemisrty of this team, and is he worth having for bmac and damaso? d. don't forget that if the white sox didn't have that flawless chemistry they had at the start of the season, they wouldn't be in first. and is jenks being brought up and replacin shingo and frank goin down, and gload (a good guy? we don't know.) hurtin this team and its flawless chemistry? don't worry too much about chemistry, it's mostly in control of the manager, and that seems to be Ozzie's specialty so far. and besides, this isn't 3rd grade, the Sox players won't shun Bobby Jenks because he's fat or AJ Burnett because he likes heavy metal.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 02:09 AM) No..... and considering his 2nd season was his best and still worse than Briggs 2nd year.... and all you had to do is look at the post to see he only missed 2 games. he injured it in training camp, meaning he played on a bad knee. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) why would the yanks want chacon the question is why would they want Hideo Nomo, who they picked up off waivers.
-
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:44 PM) why would the yanks want chacon because his road ERA is 3.12.

Harris had a bad right knee all last season and missed 3 games, so when you consider that his numbers last year look better, don't they? -

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) Even at OLB, Briggs >>>> Harris. no, no he's not. not yet, anyway. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) I'll tell you, form the "player rep" reports I got (ahem), there's a lot of pissed off campers. Not only did they take a 24% paycut, they have to set aside 15% more of their checks in a trust. That just f'in blows, if you're a player. But, Goodenow was told to get the hell out last week at their meetings after the ratification vote was taken. It just took a week to break. I trust you when you say you've got connections, but I don't think you'd need any "player rep reports" to tell you that the players are pissed. that 24% paycut was offered by the players early in the lockout as a desperation attempt to end the lockout, and even after the season was lost and a new CBA was made, that rollback ended up in it, so it's no surprise they wanted Goodenow out.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 08:07 PM) He is good.... not very good.... Before he was traded I bet half the people here didnt even know who he was what does that matter? I knew who he was back when he was with Northwestern, but that's not the point, the point is he is a damn good athletic LB that will really help Minnesota's defense. -

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) You cant honestly believe their LB corps is good... Cowart will be injured and the other 2 are nothing special QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Napoleon Harris is good....very good. so maybe the other 1 is nothing special... -
it doesn't sound like he's complaining about playing time, just stating that you tend to get rusty when you don't play the field as much. even taking ground balls in BP or any other practice time doesn't compare with the real thing.

Who is the most underrated player of all time?
AirScott replied to White Sox Josh's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Hey, yo, how you doin? Derek Jeta is very underrayted. As are Jorhey Posada, Randy Jaahnson, and Carl Pavaano. I'd say Jeter really is underrated, simply because he has a .313 career average, 1,852 hits, 4 World Series rings, is only 31 and has been called overrated many times, despite all of that. as for most overrated, Rafael Palmeiro, his numbers are unbelievable, and the way it sounds, he only has a 50/50 chance of making the Hall.
