  1. It's possible but there isn't much stress there to get a stress fracture. A fracture with a fall happens all the time. Even a sneeze in a 65 year I'll with osteoporosis.
  2. How do you get a stress fracture in a rib? That's a new one.
  3. Engel can't be counted on as a full time starter.
  4. Not every team has injuries to 3 starting position players where they each miss at least 3months. And the team still makes the playoffs.
  5. I know you dislike the Vaughn pick and will stick to your agenda no matter what but that is ridiculous.
  6. That's what the extra bullpen arms are for.
  7. Too bad. That patella dislocation and MPFL surgery just robbed him of his legs.
  8. Yes. With it starting as low as 400 ABs it doesn't look like they expect him to be a starter.
  9. In the other thread, it shows an interesting bonus scale for ABs. It is not really structured as a starter contract.
  10. Interesting. Not really structured as a starter contract.
  11. If Burger is at 2B, the Sox have 2 guys with versatility to play nearly everywhere on the field. Dramatically cuts down on the number of backups they need. The non-starters would be Harrison, Garcia, Engel and a catcher currently.
  12. Hopefully. Kent was a passable 2B
  13. But you must judge the team on what they have today. Not what they have when the season begins or when the playoffs begin.
  14. Good in theory and that's the latest philosophy but 9 innings used to be the goal, then it was 7, then the quality start of 6. Now they barely do 5.
  15. I think this will change going forward with the way starting pitching philosophy is evolving. I don't like it but I think that's the way its heading.
  16. I would agree. I think bullpens are only going to increase in importance.
  17. I will bet that the starting 8 are relatively inexpensive compared to the other playoff teams. This allows them to spend elsewhere. They don't have to spend exactly like other teams. This FO has been pretty good at locking up young players to reasonable contracts.
  18. Exactly. Can never have enough bullpen help. Soon it will be a minimum of 4 per game.
  19. Just like most anonymous boards and student evaluations, only the cranky ones complete it.
  20. Unfortunately, it tends to do that.
  21. With MLB going to a more balanced schedule is doesn't matter that he is out of the division. The Sox will see nearly as often as when he was with the Twins.
  22. You win more games with pitching. Plus Donaldson was making far too much money for what he is worth. Better use if the resources elsewhere.
  23. Could the ballpark be a factor?
  24. Unless they flip him too.
