  1. Yeah these injuries for speed guys need to be treated very conservatively.
  2. No but at this level that aren't going to use something that doesn't have good evidence to support it. Nothing in medicine is ever 100%. A minimally clinical difference is great if it hits 85%. There is just too much anatomical variability in people let alone if people actually do what they are supposed to. So if your point is that they are using concepts that aren't 100% guaranteed to work, you're right because it doesn't exist.
  3. Maybe, can't say I didn't read the research prior to using them using it. But we don't put things in the body for physical rehab.
  4. Remember that 2 months to heal. He will need to do rehab then progress to baseball after that. So the time frame fits.
  5. It sound like from Hahns comments that it is in the middle muscle fiver portion of the muscle but no where near as bad as it could have been. Grade 3 tears can range from 75%-100% of the fibers torn. This is obviously towards the lower end by the way they are treating it.
  6. Correct. But if they aren't even considering surgery than it isn't a bad grade 3 tear. So the likelihood of long term issues is greatly diminished.
  7. It's very good. There must not be as many fibers torn for a bad grade 3. All is looking up.
  8. It's possible. However it they aren't doing surgery than it's less likely. It must not be a bad grade 3 as it looked.
  9. The important note there is "if it heals properly" A full grade 3 or rupture won't necessarily heal properly. That's the catastrophic version discussed earlier.
  10. That's the issue. If its catastrophic. It looked bad and they came out with the grade 3 diagnosis. He should recovery fully but this is one injury that has the possibility of being career changer for a guy who speed is a major part of his game. Until there is more info, it is a concern.
  11. That's awesome. The grade 3 diagnosis must be a 2/3 borderline case, if they feel he can return this year.
  12. Agreed on all this this. Inexperience will provide inconsistencies for many reasons.
  13. Athlete compliance can be an issue. Usually it's not compliance with doing the work but it's doing the work that's suggested for them by the organization. Many go outside the organization for "expert" help and it isn't always the best advice.
  14. The latest things that we implement come from research. Staff at this level will not just do something they heard about.
  15. He wasn't just running. He tripped a couple of steps before the bag and then had to reach for the bag from an awkward position.
  16. Set backs do happen as they are much more aggressive with professional athletes but not 3 set backs as what's being reported.
  17. That's because most thought it was an overpay and the media is all about creating controversy so they want it to be as dramatic as possible.
  18. It's puzzling. Not so much the injury as hamstrings strains can take awhile to come back from but the constant reports of set backs. The medical group is too good to keep allowing this.
  19. They have a player maned Granite? What an awesome athlete name. His nickname has to be "Rock."
  20. I think you need to give more frequent days off so he fresh at the end of the year. Many rookies fade at the end of the year just from the mental fatigue of a season longer than they are used to. edit: I mean more frequently than the veterans, not more frequently than he is already getting.
  21. I know the ATs on staff. They aren't in charge of the off season training programs.
  22. Probably would be the best.
  23. No, that creates more injuries. It's the training and strengthening through the entire range. Part of it is also the goal to attain higher exit velocities. Just like with velocity in pitching, it creates more violent motions.
