  1. There is some component of habits and comfort zone. Why don't the teams change everyone's mechanics to be the same? Many times if a pitcher is comfortable with something the teams won't change it, unless it is drastically out of the norm. His program may have been fine but now that he has had some struggles they are tweaking it a bit. They really don't put everyone on the exact same thing as their shoulders/elbows are different. it will have the same concepts but the exact exercises will vary.
  2. This doesn't bother me as much as the bribes testing centers changing SAT question answers or having others take the exams. College athletics is full of bribery and slime anyway.
  3. I would prefer him for the Bears as opposed to Bell for the next few years when considering the probable contracts. He would thrive in Nagy's system.
  4. Actually it started well before that. That was in response to earlier posts.
  5. Then why don't pitchers just throw high fastball all the time? The high pitch is only effective when it is used after the lower pitches are the norm. The caveat being at the top of the current strike zone. Back in the day when they called armpit high pitches a strike I would agree. But in today's game where a pitch at the belt is the highest strike, it doesn't work. Those pitches get crushed.
  6. I would disagree. Watch any game. There is a reason most pitches are low. It much tougher to get good contact there. Very few pitchers can pitch high in the zone and get away with it.
  7. It's also much easier too make hard contact to put up it over the fence or hit a line drive.
  8. He couldn't get an off speed pitch over the plate today.
  9. Either way it's much easier for the hitter to hit and control a high fastball than a low one. The low fastball is either going straight into the ground or straight up hence the reason for the upper cut swing with the low ones. The only thing the rpm does either straighten it out, the high rpm, or make it move more, low rpm. The question is a out the command in the zone moreso then the movement.
  10. He is not throwing 97 mph sinkers. The launch angle is much more effective against high fastballs. Low fastballs are much more likely to be hit into the ground.
  11. Pretty good defensive though.
  12. I bet he will finish in AAA.
  13. I'm assuming you are discussing only modern era players. If not few can beat Shoeless Joe's numbers.
  14. I was thinking the same thing when I read the names.
  15. I always enjoy the watching a game of baseball. It more enjoyable when "your" team wins but it's baseball and baseball is always good.
  16. All games, including the regular season are entertainment only.
  17. Nice. Give it to him. He deserves every bit of it. Hopefully the venting makes you feel better.
  18. You are supposed to boo him. He is the living embodiment of not signing Machado/Harper.
  19. This was from the start of the rebuild. They shouldn't be signing but stop gap players. They should wait until they see where they dont have successful prospects, then fill in the gaps. The caveat being superstars such as Machado or Harper. They should have bought one of them.
  20. No doubt, just like any other form of entertainment.
  21. Good point of view. I was a fan before any of the current management was here, including the owner, and I will be a fan after they are all gone, including the owner.
  22. By watching on any device you contribute revenue to the Sox.
