  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 2, 2017 -> 11:36 AM) Yeah the fact he is a rule 5 pick should have no bearing. I could see him staying on as a long-reliever though. They can cut someone like Asche and go with a 3-man bench. I think it should. If they see enough stuff with him and think he could contribute in the pen the next few years, there's no reason not to keep him on the roster for this rebuilding year.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2017 -> 07:49 PM) Another professional AB for May Technically yes. He's being paid to do it. Why? I don't know but he is.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2017 -> 07:24 PM) Soft hit pct up 14 pct this year Which is what 15 with only 20 games in.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 1, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) Anderson needs to try to pull the ball more with authority. He seems passive at the plate and is hitting a lot of weak pop ups I think it's a natural response to struggling. Instead of being aggressive you just try to put the ball in play.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 1, 2017 -> 06:03 PM) It really sucks when Covey and Pelfrey start 40% percent of your games. I know we have Fulmer and Lopez coming eventually but this is awful. Give me Danish over one of these dopes. At least he's quasi-interesting. Only if you think that Danish is ready for the MLB. This is a rebuilding year, DO NOT rush any prospects.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 1, 2017 -> 05:01 PM) It was super light, like jogging and some mild drills with the brace. Seven I was allowed to around eight I was allowed to go back to practice full with few restrictions, nine I was cleared. sorry. I thought you meant you returned to sports at 6. Sports activity at 6 and return to sport at 9 is about right.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 02:12 PM) I tore my ACL and meniscus and was playing sports with a brace at six months, fully recovered at nine. The ACL/meniscus combo is really s***ty though, as it doesn't let you be aggressive at all to begin rehab. Not really advisable. The graft only fully regenerates at 3. 6 months is really pushing it. It's usually closer to 9.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 1, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) I hyperextended my knee in highschool and had the popping until I actually tore my ACL. It didn't cause me any pain though. I'm also a bad example because I played sports for eight months after tearing my ACL/meniscus. We're not quite sure how. I then also had an absurdly fast recovery. Not that uncommon. There are athletes who get into the NFL with ACL tears they didn't know about.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 1, 2017 -> 10:15 AM) I've been dealing with a knee injury for a few months. Whenever I sit, stand still, or lay down too long (even sleeping), my knee and thigh hurt. I think I hyper-extended it. When I walk, occasionally, there is a pop in my knee. My buddy has had a torn ACL in his life and thinks that it could be that. What do you think? Also really want to know since I'm playing in a baseball league this summer and I catch (yeah, it's awful for the week leading up to the next game). You would know if you tore your ACL. It immediately swells up and you can't move your knee. Is it by your kneecap? Sounds more like a patella-femoral pain syndrome?
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) Also has a torn meniscus and high ankle sprain. 6-9 month recovery after surgery, which hasn't been scheduled yet. They will wait until the edema goes down and he regains nearly full ROM. It will depend on where the meniscal tear was if they decide to repair it or resect it.

    Brexit

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Mar 29, 2017 -> 09:36 AM) Article 50 triggered http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-39431070 Interesting how it changes companies. My wife's employer (Zurich insurance) has a major branch based out of London. Once Brexit happens, their ability to do business in the EU changes. They laid off 25% of their employees in Schaumburg (North american branch HQ) because they will need to shift a significant part of the business to an EU based home.
  12. QUOTE (Donaldo @ Apr 30, 2017 -> 06:59 PM) It's the same injury Kyle Schwarber had last year. The reports indicate that it not as severe as Schwarber. Eaton just had the ACL. Schwarber got the LCL and others as well.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 28, 2017 -> 09:50 PM) Paging ptatc --- paging dr. Ptatc. Sorry, everyone. I was out of town for the weekend but everyone should be caught up by now. He'll be ready for Spring training.
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 1, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Wasn't that the same injury Peavy had? (albeit I believe Peavy completely tore his) Close. Peavy tore the tendon off the bone so it required surgery to reattach it. This looks like a partial tear in the muscle itself. The healing process should be interesting. I think it will be longer than 10 days.
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 1, 2017 -> 02:05 PM) I assume you mean DB(Jackson) unless I missed something that happened to Cohen between the combine and the draft Yes. Hit the wrong key.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ May 1, 2017 -> 10:48 AM) That Trubisky trade is so dumb. They gave up THREE additional picks to move up ONE spot when it wasn't even certain that SF would take him or that there was a better offer for that pick. Trading additional picks is the last thing the Bears should be doing right now. Putting all their chips into Trubisky when they have so many other needs is absolutely baffling to me. If you go by the "points chart" that most teams use, those three picks equal a second round pick.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 1, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) At the very least, it allows the Bears not to rush Trubisky. They weren't going to win anything anyway in 2017. Free agency was quantity not quality. They are playing for 2018, and probably at least one of Pace/Fox won't be there, maybe both. This is the key. They drafted for 2018 so you would assume the Bears ownership told Pace he will be back for at least that time. The first two picks need at least 1 year before they will be ready. The RB may need the year to recover from the injury.
  18. QUOTE (pablo @ May 1, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) Not sure where you are getting that I don't believe Tim is a SS, but I guess you can spin it how you like. He's a very good SS who is already premium at the position. In case you missed it, Sox are in a rebuild and should be acquiring the best talent possible and if that means you duplicate a few positions and figure out where everyone plays later then that is what you do. Only point I am trying to make. Tim's athleticism is an asset to the organization in this regard. Trea Turner was a SS "Full Stop" until June last year, played about a week of games in CF, and then transformed a struggling Nats team and took them to the playoffs. I'm guessing you would have kept him in the minors all last year at SS though. That's only because they had no other options and they didn't really move him around, they left him there. They traded for Eaton to get him out of the CF and back to SS. They isn't a move him around.
  19. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ May 1, 2017 -> 11:26 AM) By the advanced metrics TA has been already worth about 11 runs better than average, including .7 this year, as a MLB shortstop. TA is a SS. Full stop. "Positional Flexibility" is great, but so is an above average defense MLB SS. You don't take a young kid you is really good at one of the most important defensive positions and move him around. That is for the marginal defensive guys at the corner positions.
  20. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) I think Adams is going 2 actually. I can't justify taking a non-elite S that high. That's possible. If so, they should take Lattimore or Thomas. I would still go Lattimore.
  21. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:12 AM) I hope they take Watson just to see the meltdown. I have no issue with that............if it's the 2nd first round pick after they trade up. If it's the 3rd pick in the draft, I understand it but that is a risky pick.
  22. QUOTE (shipps @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) Best case scenario for me. Bears take Adams and then trade up into the first to get a QB. Great minds......
  23. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 10:00 AM) I think the Bears end up with Solomon Thomas. He's my favorite player in the class but I think they'd love to move down. I sticking with Adams or Lattimore. (Then a trade up into the latter part of the first round to grab one of the QBs.) The second part is wishful thinking.
  24. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Ready to rock. :headbang
  25. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 26, 2017 -> 09:33 PM) I guess you missed the point of the post. Well OK the White Sox might go into a season long dive like last year and Swarzek might blow up like Albers. That is one way to look at it. My own view is that our bullpen is deeper this year than last, there are reinforcements available in the minors that we didn't have last year, and most importantly, Renteria actually knows how to use a bullpen. This is a different Manager, a different team, and a different season. My own opinion is that the Sox are better right now than they were at the same time last season, regardless of the record or Matt Albers. No I got the point. It's just that all of your points are based on the first 20 games. At this times last year the Sox had a better record than the cubs and Matt Albers could not be scored upon. In other words don't count on these Sox being any better than last year because it's too early and the same thing could happen. It may not but it's far to early to make the claims that you're making.
