07/02 GDT Sox at Astros
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 06:11 PM) Who would you people say is the smartest baseball player on the team... maybe Saladino? So far Anderson has shown some pretty good baseball IQ. He may be an overly aggressive hitter and not walk much but he really seems to understand the game as it goes along.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 06:00 PM) Ah here we go with the you're not in the clubhouse so don't have an opinion. It just appears that way. These guys continue to make stupid mistake after stupid mistake and there's no consequences. What's that got to do with a country club atmosphere? Maybe they are just dumb players if they continually make the same mistakes. You are making far too many assumptions without the complete picture.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) I just answered your post about LaRoche. You brought up Laroche as an example to another poster who said it was like a country club. My point was that it took the GM to come in and settle a clubhouse issue. Got it. I though it was KW who did it and had the argument with Sale.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 05:55 PM) It absolutely has a country club feel to it. Ah, so you're the one in the clubhouse who knew it. I knew someone was the insider.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) I don't know, I'm not there. You're the one who said LaRoche thought it was. KW was the one who put a stop on LaRoche bringing his kid around everyday and having him on the field during drills though. Sorry, I was commenting on the post that this club has too much of a country club atmosphere. Not sure what your post was about then.

QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Until KW finally stepped in. So he made it a non-country club atmosphere then but has since decided to allow it to be a country club again?

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 12:58 PM) It really is. I wanted them to get one of the top ones. Hell the As are cheap but seemingly find a way to get a top one all the time. I'm sure you would like them to spend 1 billion on the MLB roster too. The last couple of years the have spent more than many teams and some of them are seeming to be progressing well.

Top 30 International Prospects; July 2nd 2016
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 1, 2016 -> 09:51 PM) It's funny the "low budget" A's are the ones who shelled out money (originally) for Cespedes, Michael Ynoa and now Lazarito. Because it's cheaper to bet on these prospects than sign real players. Hence, the restrictions of the low budgets.

Music and more Music
QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 2, 2016 -> 10:11 AM) GnR was a blast. They played for 2 and a half hours. Slash is still unreal. I was there too. Best guitar concert since SRV and Clapton for me.

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 05:44 PM) Does this mean his foot would have soon been injured with use? Had he stayed in the minors was the injury imminent? No. It's just a different type of fracture. It's really difficult to sustain a Lisfranc fracture, they usually occur with more trauma and energy than what he did today. These are just less common. Again, possible but not as likely.

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 04:32 PM) Hopefully it's not the worst fracture and can heal without surgery. What's the bad one lis franc? A lisfranc fracture is a really bad one. It's in the metatarsals near the ankle. I would doubt it's that from the description but it's possible.

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) Siera Santos @SieraSantos 1m1 minute ago Matt Davidson has a fracture in his right foot. He'll be evaluated by team doctors tomorrow. #WhiteSoxTalk Ouch, talk about bad luck. Probably a jones fracture of the 5th metatarsal. That is an extra long healing time usually probably 8 weeks.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) You're one of my favorite posters on this site, but the bolded just isn't true. Find me a guy who consistently struck out 30% of the time in AAA (for more than a very brief stint) that had ANY real success in the majors hitting-wise. There might be an outlier here or there, but few or none. I agree that K-rate is silly to get too hung up on if we're talking 18 vs 20%, or the like. But at 30% that's a big red flag. Sorry, I meant to say that the high K rate is indicative of the LACK of success in the MLB, not success. Bad typing on a tablet, not that I type well on a PC.

6/30: White Sox vs Twins
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 01:56 PM) First quick twitch AA Sox have had forever that can actually play a little baseball as well. So was it worth the Mitchell and Walker athletic player type picks to get one Anderson

Parents Stuck With Their Kids
QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) Yeah, the issue is that you still need to eat and put a roof over your head. So people who come from less have a hard time getting that unpaid real world experience than those who come from a more comfortable economic background. But no disagreement with the point that real world experience holds so very much value. This is where giving them college credits for the internship helps, it allows them to continue the student loans while gaining the experience.

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (shysocks @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 11:29 AM) That's the ideal scenario. I want Davidson to hit so once people get healthy and somebody has to go to Charlotte, it can finally be Avi. They currently have 4 available outfielders Eaton Shuck coats Garcia They can't send him down until they are sure Cabrera is healthy, even then having only 4 outfielders is tricky. i don't think they can send him down until Jackson is ready. At that time it will be who is more effective, coats or Garcia. The bigger question is who they send down when Morneau is ready. The infielders are: Abreu Lawrie Anderson Frazier Saladino Davidson With the way the bullpen is being worked due to the starters pitching short games, I'm not sure they can send a bullpen arm down.

Matt Davidson getting called up
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 30, 2016 -> 10:14 AM) Many on this site and over at Future Sox care way too much about strikeout rate. It's like people constantly focus on it and ignore the positives with guys. It's always, "Yeah but that K rate". Kris Bryant had a 30% K rate last year in the majors and was consistently in the mid 20's in the minors. Matt Davidson obviously isn't Kris Bryant. To me, the K rate isn't important in itself. High K rate in the minors can be indicative of success with contact in the MLB.

Rick Hahn
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) Oh, by the way, PTAC, there's an article for you to diagnose. It's buried in the MLB Catch-All one page back from the end. It's about the stem cell treatment program the Angels are using as an alternative to TJ surgery. Think they're doing it with Andrew Heaney now, not sure about other pitchers because I haven't had the time to read the whole thing. Just thought you might be interested and probably didn't see it or you would have commented. I haven't seen it specifically for the ulnar ligament but I know they are trying it with others. It should be interesting to see how strong the ligaments bounce back.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) Benetti? Too soon for that, lol. Actually, Hahn's not the "quiet nerd" type at all, at least he wasn't at Harvard Law from all the stories I've heard. I know. It was just a slight dig at the people who blame KW and not Hahn who they don't think he really does much.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) That sounds nearly identical to anti-Mexican feelings in this country, which definitely carry a racial component. True I'm sure there is some racism in any bias however over there its not just a group, its anyone who isn't German. Didn't matter the color of the German's skin, it was the fact that another national was taking their opportunities. It just had a very different feel from the racism here which is directed as much inward as it is outward. Do you consider the hate against Muslims racism?

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 29, 2016 -> 04:59 PM) Personally I think Kenny just talked off the cuff in an effort to deflect the criticism the organization was taking after "winning" the off season then falling flat on their faces to start 2015. I honestly don't know if there really is such a thing since the organization has been very quiet about this. Mark Yeah, he and Ozzie are alike in that way. They are smart enough to spout out about stuff to deflect the topic. He doesnt mind being the mouth piece and lightening rod. I think that is part of the reason people focus their wrath on him instead of the quiet nerd in the corner.
