  1. True. However the circumstances are different. At the first stage, the purpose was just to clear out the bad players and lose to get better drafts. They are at the point now where winning games is becoming more of a priority especially with being able to pick no higher than 10 in 2027. Winning is still not the highest priority as development is but its moving up the ladder. The time to spend is when they have a good nucleus of developed players and they need only a couple to put them over the top.
  2. This is the way I look at it. He is doing something different and that is welcome. Whether or not it works will determine how long he should stay. I know I have more patience than most but it is intriguing.
  3. I think you were referring to Getz performance and the fact that he operates under the same budget restrictions that the Sox have always had. I dont think that's accurate based on the budgets of recent years.
  4. Correct. In 2022 it was 192 million. In 2023, it was 158 million This year it appears to be around 90 million.
  5. I don't think anyone is doing victory laps. I think most say its improving but is still bad. They were all positive moves. Building through development takes time. There really isn't an alternative when they have a restrictive budget.
  6. OK, I thought baseball amaerica was higher for some reason. I know they had more "top" prospects on their lost.
  7. Thats his view. Many of the others have a slightly more positive view. Baseball America has 6 top 100 prospects and a higher ranking. I think everyone agrees though that it us top heavy and not very deep. With only 2 draft classes with him as GM it will be another year or 2 to see the true progression.
  8. I don't know. Last year Smith, Vasil, Teel, Meidroth, Tauchman and Hauser. All had pretty good years. He definitely hasn't had a perfect track record but I would put it above very littlpromise. The jury is still out but I think there is promise.
  9. I think Taylor is high leverage, middle relief, multi-inning guy. They seem to want to try to stretch him out for a possible shot at starting at some point. I also think Murphy will be a lefty in the pen over ine of the others.
  10. They will try it early but they have Thorpe, Adams and Busch coming back back this year.
  11. Surprised it was Romo. That leaves them with 4 catchers for Spring Training?
  12. Lee seems like a useful trade chip. Decent backup with decent power. Won't get much but better than a DFA.
  13. Could very well be that there was a concern but they delayed the trade to look a little more in depth. Not uncommon in trades. May even be that the sox hot a little more money back due to the concern.
  14. While granted these are advantages and makes his stuff play up, he just doesn't have the stuff of someone like Oppor. There aren't many lefties that have the raw stuff and stuff+ metrics like Oppor.
  15. I would add Oppor to the list as a unicorn. He's a lefty as well but throws much harder than Schultz from a low angle as well. Thr Sox seem to target "funky" angle pitchers. Part of the reason I think the injury rate is so high.
  16. Probably from the Bulls revenue. He's always said that the family should sell the Sox shares and keep the Bulls as with the NBA cap and revenue its a much better environment and investment.
  17. There is quite a bit if research going on with augmented reality trying to get at the mental physical link you are describing. Athletics are starting to use in in some capacities as well. I work the a group that is using it linked with a stimulator and we are getting muscle use from paralyzed patients. The crazy thing is that we are finding carry over once the stimulator is removed.
  18. This is the biggest hurdle he needs to cross. He needs 100 innings this year to have a shot at a full year in 2027.
  19. Always worth a shot to increase power.
  20. Reports I've read have Emerson more advanced than Cholowsky was at that age. He is a possibility.
  21. Not only that but if they have him swing earlier before the ball gets deep, it may adversely alter his selectivity which is currently a strength. Increasing power always has trade offs.
  22. I got 65.5 after the trade.
  23. I think this revenue sharing will be a primary focus during the CBA talks and lockout in 2027. I doubt the players go gor a cap/floor but enhanced revenue sharing/luxury tax may work.
