  1. Because they aren't going to pay him and they want to get something in return? Valdez may be the replacement.
  2. Ive talked to the arbiters in the past. Its pretty cut and dry. The agents makes the case. The tram makes the case. The arbiter ask questions independently if needed. Then they have to pick ine or the other. There is no "negotiating" or discussion really.
  3. If you listen to Bannister, all of Grant's characteristics are more that of a reliever than a starter to stay healthy. This is not true for Smith.
  4. He should. He had a good year in his rookie season.
  5. Its all second hand so nothing specific but far too many stories with not just players.
  6. Behind the scenes there have been many more incidences.
  7. I think some of the proof about Getz being handcuffed are the drastic changes he has made to the entire organization and structure. I have no idea if he is right or if he will be successful but the changes means he clearly did not like the way things were done before and wasnt allowed make those changes in his previous position.
  8. I think Periera will be one as well.
  9. I dont necessarily disagree with most of what you said. The ine i do disagree with is the loses. They were tanking to rebuild. They were trying to lose. So in that respect it is a positive as he did it better than anyone. You can disagree with the plan to tank and rebuild but that's what they were doing and got the 1-1 pick this year.
  10. True. However the circumstances are different. At the first stage, the purpose was just to clear out the bad players and lose to get better drafts. They are at the point now where winning games is becoming more of a priority especially with being able to pick no higher than 10 in 2027. Winning is still not the highest priority as development is but its moving up the ladder. The time to spend is when they have a good nucleus of developed players and they need only a couple to put them over the top.
  11. This is the way I look at it. He is doing something different and that is welcome. Whether or not it works will determine how long he should stay. I know I have more patience than most but it is intriguing.
  12. I think you were referring to Getz performance and the fact that he operates under the same budget restrictions that the Sox have always had. I dont think that's accurate based on the budgets of recent years.
  13. Correct. In 2022 it was 192 million. In 2023, it was 158 million This year it appears to be around 90 million.
  14. I don't think anyone is doing victory laps. I think most say its improving but is still bad. They were all positive moves. Building through development takes time. There really isn't an alternative when they have a restrictive budget.
  15. OK, I thought baseball amaerica was higher for some reason. I know they had more "top" prospects on their lost.
  16. Thats his view. Many of the others have a slightly more positive view. Baseball America has 6 top 100 prospects and a higher ranking. I think everyone agrees though that it us top heavy and not very deep. With only 2 draft classes with him as GM it will be another year or 2 to see the true progression.
  17. I don't know. Last year Smith, Vasil, Teel, Meidroth, Tauchman and Hauser. All had pretty good years. He definitely hasn't had a perfect track record but I would put it above very littlpromise. The jury is still out but I think there is promise.
  18. I think Taylor is high leverage, middle relief, multi-inning guy. They seem to want to try to stretch him out for a possible shot at starting at some point. I also think Murphy will be a lefty in the pen over ine of the others.
  19. They will try it early but they have Thorpe, Adams and Busch coming back back this year.
