QUOTE(knightni @ May 10, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) This poll could stand some fixing. You see what happens now, when the lefties don't get the results they like.

QUOTE(Texsox @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Gee, mutants in Kentucky, who would have thought?* *I kid, because I care For the record, I grew up in the Chcago area.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 8, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) Yas, is there anything more worthless than a reliever who cant hold runners, walks people and throws alot of passed balls? s***, the walks alone kick Marte's ass out of town, and made Seattle want to trade thornton. Yes. Billy Koch.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 10, 2006 -> 01:53 AM) I'm really not going to waste my time with all that Billy Beane Tom Foolery, but let me say this: there is a much better chance of Crede getting on base when he makes contact then their is when he strikes out, and I think the sharp raise in Crede's average and sharp drop in strikeouts is no coincidence. Ya, I'd have to agree that there is a direct correlation there.

Rob Neyer has an article about Haeger on ESPN. Unfortunately, it's an Insider article so I can't read it. This is just an FYI for anyone that has insider access.

Arizona proposing illegal immigrant crackdown.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:42 AM) I've yet to see anyone on here argue for open borders. Nice try though. You're right. They just argue against any proposal that would restrict free movement across the border. Any restriction would have some dire consequences. -
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) Williams has to have made a decision by now whether or not Contrereas is pitching. If he's experiencing any degree of discomfort, don't chance it. Considering his value to our team, and the fact he recently signed a contract extension, risks associated with aggrivating his hip/back/whatever should oversee this upcoming series. Only under the condition of no pain would I consider starting Contreras tomorrow. I'd hate for any decision concerning Haegar's promotion to wait until later this evening. He should be in Chicago by 7 pm, resting in his hotel room preparing for tomorrow. Not leaving Charlotte at 7 pm and arriving in his hotel room around 1am. He'll be in Chicago if there is any chance he will pitch. They can transport him without activating him.

QUOTE(WCSox @ May 9, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Hmmm... who has the "inferiority complex" now? Well deserved, of course.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) Yet you keep posting and trying to attack me now. I addressed your ettiquite point, and after being asked repeatedly to provide a source, link, or some more info, the guy told us to get our apologies ready, and not to diss Haeger. As for the general atmosphere, people not believing a rumor? Oh god please make it stop. One can only hope that all rumors posted by a first time poster will be believed and held up as the gospel. I guess I should mysteriously infer that you have alterior motives with this: hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Attack you? Where? How?

Just one reason why we need to know who is coming into our country. Link -
I had two guys on my team when I was 13-14 years old, that could do that. They were both prodominantly righty, but could pitch effectively from the port side.

I got those low down, mind messin' workin' at the urinal blues.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:38 AM) No they won't. ^^^^^^

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 9, 2006 -> 10:04 AM) You mean the 3 pages after his first post where people were asking for confirmation or a source? Come on. Circling for the kill, that really just makes me laugh. Its a message board. Are we worried someone got his feelings hurt? First the thing to do was discount this rumor, now the thing to do is climb up on the high horse. Hilarious. I'm not going to reargue this incident. You may or may not have been one of the 'wolves'. I don't know and I don't care. The general atmosphere that this new poster was subjected to was deplorable. I noticed, however, you focused on the 'wolves' comment but completely disregarded the 'education of posting ettiquite' part. Hmmmm.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 9, 2006 -> 09:17 AM) Whatever. In any social situation there is going to be a pecking order. If your first f***ing post on a site is about the Ace player going on the DL Fact is, you will be judged by your post history just as if it was your actions in a social setting. If the first impression you make is one of controversey, and then subsequent coyness over how you came to your opinion, then you will be treated as such. That is the way of the land, and if someone takes it personal that their first post rumor isnt taken as seriously as an inside source, well welcome to the daily rejection of life. If you get so upset over something like that on a message board, I feel somewhat sorry for you when you face the same reaction in real life. I admit i was wrong that the rumor was false, but i would never apologize for discounting a rumor that was presented in such a way. Thats the way I will react when faced with the same situation every time. You cant trust someone, when there is no basis for trust. Maybe next time he posts a rumor, we will take it more seriously, but this time, it just wasnt in the cards. What was the part about teaching posting etiquette to a new poster that you didn't comprehend? A little education just may have gone farther than a pack of wolves circling for the kill. As for coming across like an asshole comment, we all have our opinions on who qualified.

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 9, 2006 -> 08:10 AM) I don't think that's #1 to a lot of people. I actually believe that if we put up a wall or use technology or whatever to STOP the flow of illegals and are assured we won't have this issue come up again in 10 years, then the American public will comprimise on amnesty for those here now. But it seems it is also #1 for some people to be against a wall or securing the borders no matter what. Secure borders. What a concept. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 9, 2006 -> 12:25 AM) Maddux found a mixture of bad opponents, wind blowing in days, some luck, some smarts, and some offensive help to get off to that start. I think the Maddux of 2004 and 2005 is back to say now, but he's still a decent pitcher. As for the Cubs, don't you think they'd LOVE to have John Koronka back. He's only 25 years old, a lefty, and is now 4-1 with a 3.65 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 25 to 12 K/BB ratio in 44.1 IP for the freaking Rangers. Nice job letting him go Flubs, you really got a king's ransom for him in Freddie Bynum, who is out of options and probably will be released outright because of how horrendously bad he is. Koronka was impressive against the Twins last night. Of course, it was the Twins.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 8, 2006 -> 12:14 PM) Which suggests there are economic implications and ramifications that one-dimensional points of view such as 'illegals must be taking good jobs away from Americans' do not consider. It's a mess and it needs fixing, that is very true. But it was allowed to become a mess because we Americans like to enjoy the fruits (literally in many cases) of a cheap labor force. It's only now that many are actually wondering how the tomatoes got to the market and who's washing the dishes at the resturaunt and wher did that army of hotel maids come from. And it turns out that, HOLY f***, it's a bunch of illegals!! Why all the illegal labor? Because our goods and services would otherwise cost two or three times what they do now. But 12 million cheap laborors living on the fringes of society are finally too many to ignore, and so now we're gonna fix things. . . Do you honestly believe that? -
I don't know about this. Politte and McCarthy have both proven they get major league hitters out. Nelson is working his way toward Chicago. I don't see this as a major area of concern.

If the illegals weren't taking these non-benefit jobs, then the employers would be forced to hire legal citizens or immigrants and supply the benefits. Then we wouldn't have to "honestly decide how many of those citizens on the unemployment rolls would be willing to take the jobs the illegals are doing for the same wages and non-benefits the illegals are currently receiving." -
What's your point? No one has said Mexicans should not be here.
