QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 11:55 PM) I hate the name though. Why not just the SUVs? Or Luxury Sedans? The New Cars? Awful. In other news, I have determined my favorite moment in British 90s hard rock. 4st7lb by Manic Street Preachers. Its just so raw and painful and beautiful. It's how I felt in love with the band and definitely their finest moment of turning away from the Arena/CockRock hybrid that they had flirted with in their first two albums. There were definite hints of greatness before Theholybible came out - mostly "La Tristessa Durera (Scream to a Sigh)" and their cover of Suicide Is Painless. But 4st7lb is pure genius. 4REAL. Everybody loves the smell.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 10:33 AM) I don't have any problem with people mocking Jesse Jackson. People here do it all the time. I get sick of it, because it seems like people on the right who need a target - can't even find anyone relevant to smack around anymore. Seriously, Al Sharpton makes much more sense to mock - at least he had a reality show. No one relevent on the left. Hmmmm. I'll go along with that.

Subject: The Chicken and the road The Chicken... Why did the chicken cross the road? DR. PHIL The problem we have here is that this chicken won't realize that he must first deal with the problem on "THIS" side of the road before it goes after the problem on the "OTHER SIDE" of the road. What we need to do is help him realize how stupid he's acting by not taking on his "CURRENT" problems before adding "NEW" problems. OPRAH Well I understand that the chicken is having problems, which is why he wants to cross this road so bad. So instead of having the chicken learn from his mistakes and take falls, which is a part of life, I'm going to give this chicken a car so that he can just drive across the road and not live his life like the rest of the chickens. GEORGE W BUSH We don't really care why the chicken crossed the road. We just want to know if the chicken is on our side of the road, or not. The chicken is either against us, or for us. There is no middle ground here. COLIN POWELL Now to the left of the screen, you can clearly see the satellite image of the chicken crossing the road... ANDERSON COOPER - CNN We have reason to believe there is a chicken, but we have not yet been allowed to have access to the other side of the road. JOHN KERRY Although I voted to let the chicken cross the road, I am now against it! It was the wrong road to cross, and I was misled about the chicken's intentions. I am not for it now, and will remain against it. NANCY GRACE: That chicken crossed the road because he's GUILTY! You can see it in his eyes and the way he walks. PAT BUCHANAN: To steal the job of a decent, hardworking American. MARTHA STEWART: No one called me to warn me which way that chicken was going. I had a standing order at the Farmer's Market to sell my eggs when the price dropped to a certain level. No little bird gave me any insider information. DR SEUSS: Did the chicken cross the road? Did he cross it with a toad? Yes, the chicken crossed the road, but why it crossed I've not been told. ERNEST HEMINGWAY To die in the rain. Alone. JERRY FALWELL Because the chicken was gay! Can't you people see the plain truth in front of your face? The chicken was going to the "other side." That's why they call it the "other side." Yes, my friends, that chicken is gay. And if you eat that chicken, you will become gay too. I say we boycott all chickens until we sort out this abomination that the liberal media whitewashes with seemingly harmless phrases like "the other side." That chicken should not be be crossing the road. It's as plain and simple as that! GRANDPA In my day we didn't ask why the chicken crossed the road. Somebody told us the chicken crossed the road, and that was good enough. BARBARA WALTERS Isn't that interesting? In a few moments, we will be listening to the chicken tell, for the first time, the heart warming story of how it experienced a serious case of molting, and went on to accomplish its life long dream of crossing the road. JOHN LENNON Imagine all the chickens in the world crossing roads together, in peace. ARISTOTLE It is the nature of chickens to cross the road. BILL GATES I have just released eChicken2005, which will not only cross roads, but will lay eggs, file your important documents, and balance your check book. Internet Explorer is an integral part of eChicken. This new platform is much more stable and will never cra...#@&&^( C \ ..... reboot. ALBERT EINSTEIN Did the chicken really cross the road, or did the road move beneath the chicken? BILL CLINTON I did not cross the road with THAT chicken. What is your definition of chicken? AL GORE I invented the chicken! COLONEL SANDERS Did I miss one?

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 11:24 AM) George Bush has the right to declassify information. The Vice President only has the right to classify information unless given express written consent by the President. Which Cheney has stated was given him.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 03:39 PM) Here's a fun game, courtesy of ThinkProgress. Try to guess who said each of these mean, nasty things about our Commander-In-Chief. Done? Now, if your answers were: Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow, Tony Snow and Tony Snow, then give yourself full marks! It will be refreshing to see this kind of candor coming from Tony once he assumes his new duties as White House Press Secretary. :rolly Wait! What are you saying? Do you mean Tony Snow wasn't being 'fair and balanced' on Fox News because he was overly critical of the president? Fox News must be a another liberal media outlet.

Oh come on. This man "mocked" Bush. If he had "mocked' the esteemed Revereand Jackson, you all would screaming racism. Why is one acceptable and one not? A person in the public eye is still being mocked.

I'm watching this thread with extreme interest.

If this 'victim' did happen to randomly choose 3 lax players from a collection of photos from only lax players, then this kid with assault charge is getting a raw deal. He was under conditions to stay out of trouble and perform some community service. It's possible that the only reason he is in trouble is that she basically could have been told, pick 3 ... pick any 3.

Keith Hernandez doesnt like women in the dugout
YASNY replied to Kyyle23's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 26, 2006 -> 07:24 AM) Not sure how "idiot" is discriminatory, especially when that's exactly what Hernandez is in this case. Idiot wasn't. It was the comments about 'old people'. Age discrimination. -

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 01:56 PM) what an idiot. I love when people show how old and out of date they are. Does he still got that stupid Mustache I love when people use a discriminatory remark to critcize someone for making a discriminatory remark. -
To put things into a bit of perspective, in this Ruth vs. Bonds debate, in 1927 which was the year Ruth hit 60 dingers, he outhomered every opposing TEAM in the American League. In 2001 when Bonds hit 73, the team with least amount of homeruns in the NL was Montreal with 131. That should shed some light the differences in eras as far as homerun hitting goes and what a dominant player Ruth was. In my opinion, Ruth stands head and shoulders above any player in the MLB history. No question.

Interesting little tidbit here. The Sox have 80 runs allowed after 20 games, but the Tigers have allowed only 78 in 21 games. That's 1/8th of the season. Have the young Tiger pitchers finally hit a comfort level with Rogers in place as the grizzled veteran ace? Could be something to watch.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 12:58 PM) Maybe if those teams were crazy. Sorry, but Widger, Ozuna, Mackowiak, and Gload are not starting caliber players. Mackowiak maybe--on the Royals/Marlins. I don't like Ozzie's sitting of so many guys at one time. There is no reason for it, even against Seattle. Reasons for 'it': 1. First nondivisional opponant in quite a while. Perfect opportunty to rest veterans without losing a division game. 2. Sunday game - flight to the west coast - Monday game. Throw jet lag in there as well. Those are reasons other than the previously mentioned ones about it being a marathon, keeps regulars fresh, keeps reserves sharp. You know, those thing that are pointed out every time someone b****es about Ozzie not using the starting 9 every game. You know, those same things he did last year that played such an important role in the club's success.

As much as I hate saying this, Texsox is correct. Hi8is, it's your $$$ and you can do what you what to, but you have no realistic complaint.

What gives anybody the 'authority' to decide who is or isn't a fan? People can enjoy the game of baseball in any way they see fit. Someone can be a die hard Soxfan and still mildly pull for the Cubs, Cardinals or whoever. I think this concept of making rules about or defining what is being a fan is garbage. Fans achieve there own level of fandom based on their interest level, and thousands of other factors that are unique to any particular person, like time availabilty (to actively follow the team), location, financial matters, etc. But to criticize someone because they are a different type of fan as you, or to call them a non-fan, is ridiculous. In fact, it's snobbish.

QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 03:19 PM) I think your signature is an institution and I'd hate to see it go, old timer. Old timer? Nah, that's cool. Thanks for the sig remark. I won't retire it, but I think I'll put it on the DL for awhile.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:49 PM) The freight companies are doing awesome these days. I read last week where Union Pacific reported its best quarterly profit ever. They are benefitting from a massive increase in shipments due to the booming economy and their fuel costs are not an issue because they simply can pass them on to their customers in the form of a fuel surcharge. That all being said, they have no vested interest in adding infrastructure to accomodate an unprofitable passenger rail system. They'd rather just let Amtrack and the commuter lines pay them rent for the usage of their existing tracks and leave it that. As far as I'm concerned, the passenger rail system would be secondary if it were even a consideration at all. But using rails for freight should be increased exponentially.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:24 PM) I always stop and listen when I hear Torri on the radio. He's a straight shooter. He's also one of my favorite players in the game. Always has a smile on his face and works his ass off. I gained a lot of respect (and I actually cheer for the Twins as long as we have the division locked up) for Hunter, AJ, Mienty, Rade and some of the other Twins as we were getting whooped by them over the years. I'd take Hunter on the southside any day of the week. He'd fit right in with our stooges and people like Buehrle. Agreed. The only thing I have against Hunter is the name on the front of his uniform.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 10:44 PM) I'm not counting his swinging bunt as a hit. I mean its a hit, but its not worth saying oh my god he's out of his slump he had 2 hits. An swinging bunt where you were totally fooled is not deserving as getting out of a slump (however it will help his confidence). He had 1 real hit and it was a BOMB. I should have explained that better in my original post ace. But it seems like a lot of people are basing the 2 hits off the box score and assuming he had a HR and a solid single. And I'm not trying to discredit the infield hit (thats still a hit in the scorebook and he hustled it out and it will give him confidence and for every squibber like that you have, you usually have a handful more missiles you hit right at a defender) I've seen hits like that, or a liitle blooper, have the effect breaking slumps in the past. It's like the guy thinks, well something finally went my way, then he relaxes and starts producing. Hopefully, this will be the case with BA.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Apr 24, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) How about 6 over .327 and some guy Thome is the worst of that group batting only .327. The other difference is Rowand and Anderson. Rowand's 2005 April numbers were not mych better than Anderson's current numbers. There were also several people wanting to throw Aaron under the bus.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) Well once again you just can't discuss this without resorting to bulls*** and stuff. Keep demanding your biased, slanted news and keep believing that's best for America. :headshake Thank God republican politicians figured out the media was biased, funny that the public never did. Greatest.capaign.strategy.ever. no criticism ever. keep living in your conservatives are perfect and liberal is bulls*** world. When I see bulls***, I call bulls***. :headshake
