QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 11:17 AM) I am saying we are in danger when everyone just gets slanted news that will make them happy. Isn't that a government's dream? I don't careif it's slanted left, right, up, down, or sideways. What it shows is conservatives want biased news more than liberals. But that will change soon, and liberals will also be able to receive biased news to make them happy. The division in this country will get deeper when both sides think they have the exclusive hold on truth, fairness, and how to run this country. They will believe it without question because that is all they hear, their side's postive moments and the other sides mistakes. If they should happen to hear the opposite, it will because of that media's bias. What it shows is that the conservatives finally are getting a voice after decades of liberally slanted news being the only option.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 12:20 AM) On a related note, most of the people in his row were mighty perturbed after numerous incidents regarding food and beer at the ballpark. Apparently, once the vendor handed the food to Orton, the Bears QB subsequently passed the hot dogs and nachos and missed the lady down the row by two rows. This drops Orton's hot dog rating to 37.4. Ya, but Vasher later made a nice pick of an overthrown hotdog to save the game. That guy has a nose for the dog.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 05:59 AM) And they don't make a penny of their money off of the White Sox. Which is why your thank you was appropriate.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 06:47 AM) Game is at 7:35. Someone change the title of the thread. Got it.

Every criminal plan has at least one basic flaw. His, of course, was failure to bring the gloves. From the way that reads, she wouldn't have suspected a thing.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 12:13 PM) I love this. The Bush administration considers hiring a conservative news anchor and its the way to do it. But if it was a Dem and Dan Rather, it would be "flying bulls***." This is actually a smart move on behalf of the Bush administration - because it forces the Bush administration to be more honest with its press secretary... provided Snow would have the balls to say "this won't fly." Something that McClellan clearly doesn't have the balls to do. SNARK WARNING! Besides it's not really a new job, so much as a transfer in departments anyway. It honestly would not bother me one iota if a Democratic president selected Rather for this position. The man is certainly well spoken and would not be at all intimited by the camera. It makes sense to me. In fact, there would be one small problem with this ... the fact that there was a Democratic president. That would suck.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 03:50 PM) I was planning an extensive road trip to Dallas, but the Ranger series was a week that I can't be away from the beach. It looks like a trip to Chicago will be in the cards in late July or early August, then we'll see how good our ticket area is to me. Keep me posted on this and I'll try and get up there at the same time.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 08:32 PM) I guess I find it hard to thank a billionare for putting his profits back into the team. They don't become billionaires by breaking even.

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) It's April :banghead Can we revisit this topic in, oh, say end of May? Once he's had two full months of big league action under his belt? Seen some pitchers on a consistent basis? Settled in? It was bad enough that people had Pods buried after two weeks into the season, but BA is a rook with serious talent. It wasn't some oversight by KW and Oz that he landed a starting job on the roster. Let's give the benefit of the doubt to the two men who won a world series championship. You should know by now that the use of logic doesn't fly around here.

QUOTE(IHatetheCubs4556 @ Apr 21, 2006 -> 01:19 AM) No joke. I hope he struggles for one more game. Thome is due!! Nice avatar by the way, I have that poster on my wall. Thats a pretty nice thing for the Cubune to do. Thanks. I have the Sun-Times special insert mounted and framed on my wall.

Wow Alex. I didn't "rate" your article, but I disagree with the general tone of the whole thing. Kenny Williams is the "loudmouth leader of the Sox"? Frank took his shots at the club when he left, and nothing was said in response. But Frank couldn't keep his big yap shut and continued to take shots. I'm glad Kenny called him out for it. He had it coming. As for the tarp sliding thing, they had expressed concern after each occurance of it, and Mark didn't get the hint. They have $9 million and a possible championship season riding on this guy. I'm glad Kenny put a stop to it. As for the need to hurry to get a deal done, I don't see the need to hurry. Buehrle is under the Sox control for the next 18 months. He's not going anywhere, even to St. Louis, unless the Sox decide he's going somewhere. Who knows, Mark might blow out a knee while tarp sliding between now and then. The rest of it I agree with you. Mark has earned himself a very nice contract and he'll get one in the foreseeable future. I hope he can reach an agreement with the Sox, as he's one of my favorite players and a very damn good pitcher who's just reaching his prime. But to rip Williams because he doesn't have a deal with Mark yet is totallty uncalled for.

I'd rather catch Santana now, since he's been struggling, than after he finds his groove. Which he undoubtedly will.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:40 AM) I'm more interested in what it says about Fox News that one of their people is being seriously considered to be the official spokesperson for an administration. No other network would EVER be able to live that down. He's a well spoken media savy person that has the same ideology as the administration. This is the way to do it, as opposed to Rather flying bulls*** on his network news broadcast.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 10:34 AM) So if he was the worse, it is possible for anyone to call him that and be true, and not just media bias? Seriously YAS, is it possible for Republicans to screw up? Is it possible for the media to report on it and have it not be media bias? How the hell would you know the difference? It's not about whether or not they can screw up. I'll admit right here that they can. I'm talking about the cartoon portrayal of Bush as a dunce. With the liberal media, he's either a dunce or he's so diabolical as to be Hitleresque.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 11:25 AM) So can anyone tell me how amazing it would be for Fox News' Tony Snow to actually take Scotty's job, which according to the NY Daily News Is looking like a fairly strong possiblity? Seriously, what would the Republicans say if Dan Rather or Anderson Cooper was hired as the chief propagandist for a Democratic president? Wait. Are suggesting that Bush should select someone that doesn't have the same political point of view? I mean ... Come On!

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:35 AM) You say this like Cabrera is 30 yrs old. I think hes only 22 or 23. He is the "youth movement". that's a lot of players to give up. Think of it as a payroll reduction movement.

QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:36 AM) Excatly. I think he would have agreed to a ring ceremony at the Cell in front of all the fans. I think he was treated like dirt throughout the whole thing. How so?

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 09:32 AM) Frank's problem is that he always felt disrespected by management. He really didn't have any significant issues with his teammates from last season. Frank's problem was always Frank.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 20, 2006 -> 07:36 AM) Because as soon as you use prison labor, you have taken a job from a honest person and given it to a criminal. Which is why I prefer a guest worker program and allowing people who want the jobs to come here and work those jobs while earning citizenship. Regardless of what that countries' immigration laws are. I also favor a program to allow those who are already here to stay as long as they have not committed any crimes while in the US. Honest person? I thought we talking about using prison labor to the jobs that ILLEGAL aliens are doing?

No liberal media bias there.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 04:27 PM) Can he get us Pujols? Pujols might develop a plantars wart in the future. Scrap that idea.

This is much ado about nothing. Mark is controlled by the Sox till end of next season. There is no reason for KW to "get it done" right now. The offseason will be soon enough.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 19, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) I havn't even gone into the Thome/Frank thread out of fear of getting sucked into the conversation. I just hate having the same damn argument over and over again. This argument is a smei-annual event here at Soxtalk. I agree with you. I don't want to be part of it again.
