  1. QUOTE(JShBattier31 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 04:46 PM) Anybody have any information on why Rusty Tucker was taken out of the Barons game vs Jax Suns today after only .2 innings of work? He started off fine, and I know he gave up 3 walks, but he had 2 outs already. Injury? If any one was listening to or at the game, it would be interesting to know since I know he's coming back from TJ. Just call it a hunch, but the 3 walks may be a clue.
  2. QUOTE(Cuck the Fubs @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 08:15 PM) LaRussa asked for the umpire to inspect the baseball. Bob Brenly was saying that when he was manager in Arizona, he had a collection of baseballs Maddux threw and didn't find any of them doctored or anything. All you see Maddux do is lick his fingers Would you expect Brenly to say anything else?
  3. There has been a steady decline in the number of AA players for some time now. To sum it up in very general terms, they aren't playing baseball as kids. MLB has been trying to address the situation, but it's going to take some time to show results.
  4. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) If he can hit like he did today even 2 times a week I will become a huge BA fan... Not only did he not look lost but his swing wasn't half as long... The wind has changed direction again, I see.
  5. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 04:15 PM) KW struck freaking gold with this guy. Getting Count AND COMPENSATION from Steinbrenner for Loaiza is probably one of the best trades in franchise history. And re-signing him at a (relatively) paltry 3 years/$29 million was a second stroke of genius. We better be locking up Cooper before Steinbrenner has a chance to get his meat hooks in him.
  6. QUOTE(LeroySettle @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:41 PM) Well you are entitled to your opinion, but I think throwing the ball back is a cool tradition that they have over at Wrigley and if it becomes a tradtion here then all the better. I know if I catch an opposing teams homer Im throwing it back and there isnt anything anyone is going to do about it. This isnt the White Sox of 5 years ago, we've taken the city by storm. Whether you like it or not there is gonna be new traditions, like throwing opposing team homers back and the wave. Those are traditions for morons.
  7. QUOTE(LeroySettle @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:51 AM) I love how people say the fans are annoying, bandwagoners, ect. Ive had season tickets for 3 years and to be honest the games are even better now. Even on weekday nights we are drawing decent amounts of people. Im glad people are showing up to support us. I love going to games with my boyz and being rowdy, and its even better with more people at the park. We run that place. Who cares if someone wants to throw a ball back after someone from the other team hits a homer. They caught the ball they can do what they want with it. It isnt just a "cubs" thing. Here is a picture of me and my boyz after Friday nights win at Jimbos Damn. Time to invest in some hair gel stocks.
  8. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 09:53 AM) It's weird, but Venezuelan Spanish is comparable to say, West Virginian English. It's even made fun of in South America, sort of how we poke fun at southerners. Some of that carries over when they learn English (I don't know why). That's ok. Southerners make fun of 'y'all' as well.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:58 AM) Rain Boras or Mariotti? Mariotti. He's actually harmless. Lavernge or Shirley?
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 06:56 AM) When you say voice, are you meaning the news, that 30 minute show with news, weather, and sports. The front page of the newspaper, and the 5 minutes when they say "now the news" or do you mean the shows like Rush, Hannity, and all the others? Now that conservatives only believe and trust stuff they agree with, the conserative politicans have their dream. Any screw up on their part is deflected by blaming the messenger. I just hope you wake up before it's too late. There is a reason that first thing somene does when taking over a country is to take over the broadcasting and news organizations, even before rounding up the weapons. A free press is the most dangerous weapon against wrongdoing by a government. Conservatives are handing over the keys without a fight. Demanding to only hear biased news that makes them feel smart. for America Wake up? Bulls***! I picked up on the fact that the media had a liberal bias when I was in junior high school. The way things are now, we are FINALLY getting both sides of the issues and the stories. In general, the media is more balanced than it's ever been. The problem with that is the liberals yearn for the good old days of pure liberal bulls*** being rammed down our collective throats.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 07:56 AM) This is just media bias against baseball coaches Only conservative baseball coaches.
  13. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 08:30 AM) Yep. They did it multiple times last year, with the last being the final 8 games of the playoffs. Which means, since we won opening day, that we had a 9 game streak.
  14. QUOTE(Young Gun @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 05:57 AM) Not a fan of the text or border. The border is almost exactly the same as yours.
  15. I'll take you up on your offer. I just decided I can use a new sig. I'd like it to include Bmac and Cotts due to their Soxtalk connection. I'd also like the Sox logo incorporated into it along with the 'word' YASNY. What do you think?
  16. Conservatives think there should be a voice because only the liberals have had a voice for the whole of the age of television. Liberals think that their voice should be the only one heard and therefore despise the fact that conservatives are making significant headway into offering an alternative voice, and subsequently, an alternative way of thinking.
  17. Let me twist the direction of this topic a little bit. What can we, as a nation, do about this problem? Alternative fuel sources as certainly an option, but it will take some significant time to implement any of them. That's even if the oil companies are forced to stop suppressing innovative fuel saving inventions and other alternatives. One thing I would like to see investigated as an option is the possibility of a rebirth of our railroad system. There are so damn many semis on the road these days. Try running I-40 through Arkansas sometime. You talk about a s*** load of trucks! When you consider all the deisel fuel these things burn and all the damage they do to our highways, the railroad option seems to me like it would have be better than keeping the teamsters union happy.
  18. The problem with this article is that the author is taking all the expressions literally. When a coach tells you to keep you eye on the ball while hitting, what he is actually wanting you to do is keep your eye on it as long as possible. When he says 'get under the ball' in the outfield, he wants you get to the general area in time to make necessary adjustments. The expressions get the point across a lot better than the alternative suggested by this guy and therefore are more effective from a coaching standpoint.
  19. QUOTE(Beltin'Bill @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 12:31 PM) The Astros have been one of the most consistently successful franchises in the Major Leagues over the past ten years. They have made several playoff appearances, advanced to a few LCS and made their first WS appearance last year. They are a well run organization that continues to have success. I would say they are the best run franchise in the majors after the Braves (and possibly the Cardinals). I mean no disrespect to the Yankees and Red Sox, but while their runs of success have been impressive in their own right, the Astros have done it without spending excessive $$$ on multiple superstars and have also done an exceptional job of promoting from within the organization. Their continued success does not surprise me in the least bit. You know, I may be totally off base here, but I believe the 'Stros won their first post season series in '05. They may have 'advanced' to some LCS's prior to the wild card era, but they haven't been a prime example of post season success by any means.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) ^^^ Same here, the one game I get to over this long ass stretch of winning just happens to be the one game that they lose. Hell. I went to 5 games last year and they lost 4 of them. That was during a championship season. The only win I got to see was that glorious thumping they put on the Cubs in game 1 at the Cell.
  22. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2006 -> 02:17 AM) He is out with a hurtful right knee... he legs have been going for a while now. Which is why I wasn't too concerned when they acquired him.
  23. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 22, 2006 -> 08:47 AM) That game was seriously amazing. When Thome muscled that homerun out of there, it was just awesome. Hunter made me a bit nervous when he scaled the wall, but he missed it! Kickass game! Buehrle is just pure insaneness! We've given up TWO RUNS in FOUR GAMES! Thats the first time since 1973, according to SportsCenter. Was that for the White Sox, or for MLB?
