  1. From the Southtown, so take it fwiw.
  2. Mulligan's column. He pulls no punches.
  3. QUOTE(The Critic @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 07:23 AM) Yep. Me too. Nomar is now an older, injury-prone player who will still try to get that money back that he turned down in Boston. Not only that, but Walker is a good LEFTY stick. Not as good as I'd like, but he sure could help this team against those tough righties.
  4. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:56 AM) To get back on topic... I have talked to redandwhite about this before. Ozzie is not the best manager in the game...not even close. Probably not even a top 15 manager. And, IMO, he is probably one of the worst, if not THE worst, in-game managers in the league...and while that is an opinion, the mass would agree. But without Ozzie...are the Sox 78-47? Is there any other manager in the game that could have the Sox at 78-47 right now? I don't think so. So ya, he is pretty much Ditka. These guys would run through a wall for this guy(or at the very least, into a wall), and you can see it day in and day out. What determines a "good manager" if not the won/loss record?
  5. This is exactly the reason we are in Iraq. The English speaking peoples of the world have a history of establishing a presence in strategic areas of the world. This an attempt to get a foothold in the middle east before the opportunity to do so is non-existant. There is going to be a shortage of oil in the very near future and the U.S. is trying to position itself to be in as much control over as much of the remaining oil as possible.

    Getting in trouble

    QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) All of my gf's have always complained with me about that. My most recent one learned that though and knew not to call during the Sox games, haha. I don't know if thats a good thing or a scary thing. Chisoxfn's last girlfriend: C'mon babe, we've got about 3 hours. He's watching the White Sox again. Chisoxfn: (2hrs 20 mins later) Ah Ha! Caught ya in the act! Girlfriend: What happened? I thought the Sox were playing. Chisoxfn: Buehrle pitched tonight.
  7. This is a particularly common occurance around SL&P.
  8. QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) I have a house on the gulf of mexico in gulf shores alabama and im getting sick of theses storms trying their hardest to take it down. First there was ivan and we were one of the houses that didn't get destroyed. We got lucky dennis took a turn into pensacola. But im sick of worrying about this even though i am fascinated by hurricanes. I just hope we can luck out this once more and end the stress. Its scary to think that when i was there a week ago that it could be the last time i see it. I was thinking this way the same way last year. Well, just needed to let it out and i hope noby else gets majorly affected by this storm. Good luck to you. Hope you dodge the bullet, or I should say I hope this bullet dodges you, again.
  9. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 03:04 AM) Man if people can't handle a joke maybe they need to be a little less sensitive...but whatever.. I will play by your lil rules and deal with it. Thank you.
  10. QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 08:18 PM) I can't stand Schilling, especially how the media feels the need that his opinion be heard on every damn issue. This guy was spitting out the most BS at those hearings (well maybe not the most, palmeiro made himself look like an idiot), towing the company line. I wouldn't be surprised if he was on steroids, or at least human growth hormone. If it was up to ESPN, he'd be the next MLB commishioner, but I sure am sick of hearing his opinion on every issue, and making it sound like his is always the right one. They go to Schilling because the know they can get a good quote or two out of him.
  11. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 09:05 PM) Atlanta is playing the Braves on TBS right now. Ya, I kinda did a double take when I turned that game on as well.
  12. Of course Youkilis isn't the same as Anderson. Different ballplayer. Different position. Different team. Also, Youkilis was brought up last year, so that narrows the gap. That would make Youkilis 25 last year. Anderson will be 24 (?) next year.
  13. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 02:10 AM) I smell trouble Nope. It should be a done deal at this point.
  14. For the record, EJ. Green doesn't make it acceptable.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 01:12 AM) I've heard this argument lately, and I'm really interested in hearing exactly what this means. Is Ozzie really planning on letting Duque go more than 7 innings if we make the playoffs? Hell, is Duque even going to be starting in the playoffs? He's been pitching better, but he's still clearly not one of our top 4 starters. One thing I really want to see is Cotts pitch in late inning situations. You are focusing on just one aspect of things. He may have left El Duque out there because of a bullpen situation or something. Who knows? I agree with on Cotts.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 10:31 PM) Slow pitch against slow bat speed = homer That accounts for 1 out of 27.
  17. QUOTE(SoufSideHitMen @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Blums Slide was absolutely amazing i was rewinding and re watching for about 10 minutes Agreed. You can't teach that. That's just baseball instinct.
  18. I think too many look at the day to day situational stuff without taking a look at the big picture. Ozzie has to manage for the long haul and not just today's game. In my opinion, Ozzie's done a masterful job with this team. Welcome to Soxtalk.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) Now the minor league bashers can't complain that the Sox don't have anyone come up from the minors and contribute right away. Jenks gets his first major league save yesterday, and Anderson carries the team for 10 innings. Oh, but you underestimate those guys.
  20. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) my sack is full of the seed of happiness after that win.... which will soon be emptied into the sock of jubilation I know you are happy with the win, but that is just TMI.
  21. Helluva game for the kid. Two dingers, a double,a sac bunt and 3 rbi's.
  22. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 27, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) We would have been shutout without BA. But, we had BA.
