  1. Carl Everett has been injured and/or unproductive all year. We can't afford to gamble on "maybe" he'll comne around in our park, or whatever. We need to get someone the we KNOW can produce. For the 500th time ... Steve Finley please.

That's why we need Finley .... but Finley can still hit. I've always like Olerud, but he is reminding of Robbie Alomar with his decline. Gold glove defense and playoff experience. That reminds me of Robbie also.
  3. Are any of you familiar with the book The Walrus was Paul: The Great Beatle Death Clues by R. Gary Patterson? Is it worthwhile?

    Let's just keep Gload.
  5. In Dusty we trusty...... Well, they trusted him. And as several around here predicted, the Cubs starting staff had one of the big 2 unable to pitch except for a time period that last 1 game and one & two thirds innings. Zambrano appears to be healthy, but there's still 2+ months left for Dusty to screw up his arm too. Can Wood stay off the DL the rest of the year? I smell trouble in Wrigleyville.
  6. Exactly 5 posts after the one you quoted, I said this: I'd call that an adequate disclaimer.
  7. Yep. This guy would certainly be a welcome addition to our clubhouse. :headshake
  8. In my best Dandy Don Meredith voice ..... Turn out the lights, the party's over. Olerud is done.

What part of .245 and 22 RBI makes you want Olerud?
  10. If I was KW, I'd haggle with Arizona until he knows he has a deal for Johnson close at hand. Then to put it over the top, I'd offer to add Rowand for Finley as the deal sweetener.
  11. We all know that there are no sure things. Johnson, Beltran, whoever doesn't assure the Sox win it all. But I am sure of this. I'm tired of being "competitive". We've been "competitive", for the most part, since the early 90's. Screw that. I want a team that has a good chance of bringing home the whole enchilada. KW is attempting to do that. Naysayers aside, I'm in 100% agreement with KW's philosophy and will live with the results, whatever they may be.
  12. You beat me to this one. I was on my back here to post this.
  13. With this kind of turn out, I'm going to start trying to make arrangements to see if I can get up there that weekend. That will be a great series to see.

    Bullard

Is Bullard still pitching side arm?
  15. How about 1/2 price night for all kids until 14 and each accompanying adult. That way, families could still get the half price benefit, but the "young Cub fan" crowd would be shut out of the bargain.
  16. But this is so much fun. The speculation, discussing possibilities and probabilities. I love this stuff.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Frank is down till mid to late September. I just don't think this 2 weeks of rest is going to help him heal enough to prevent surgery. If the Sox are still in the race, he comes back near the end of the season. If not, it's see ya next year.
  18. Would you guys really give up more for Randy Johnson than KW gave up for Freddie Garcia? Not me. Some of these packages you guys are through out there are just mind boggling.
  19. You know one thing, he's STAYING here because he wants to. That is even more important, I would think.
  20. I'm hoping that since it's immediately after the AS break, that the team uses that to their advantage and gets out there soon enough to where they eliminate the jet lag effect.
  21. Even if you accept the fact that Nomar would outproduce Valentin for the rest of the year, which is a very questionable scenario imho, he would not outproduce him to an extent that he would drastically improve the club. Whereas a guy like Kendall would greatly enhance the ball team considering who he'd replace and he'd be a consistent on base guy at the top of the line up. Again, Nomar does not make sense for the Sox.
  22. As I said earlier in this thread, I had only heard Boras was thier agent on this board and certainly was not sure about the accuracy of that statement. When I offer a disclaimer like that, I don't think I should be called out for being wrong.

    Finally!

As he said .... How do we survive the offseason?
  24. If I was in the Sox position, I'd cater to the season ticket holders, first and foremost. It just makes sense.
