  1. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/base...ex.html?eref=T1 Thank you.
  2. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) The only thing I haven't seen final is the money that is changing hands. I have seen 4 million but also 1 million. Griff is on the White Sox roster. I haven't seen where Selig approved the deal, yet.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:22 PM) a third team is involved per rosenthall....not sure who.....wouldnt at all be surprised if this has manny going to dodgers, cabrera to red sox and lowe to the white sox I don't think Cabrera to the BoSox is part of it.
  4. QUOTE (peanut33tillman @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Bay to Red Sox according to article as well... Well hell ... link us!
  5. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:20 PM) Griffey is officially a White Sox. It's done. Manny looks to be a Dodger. If it's done, was it Masset and Richar for Junior? Nothing more, nothing less?
  6. Manny to the Dodgers? ... I stand corrected.
  7. So where are we now.... The Griffey deal hasn't been made official yet. The Manny deal hasn't happened yet. Bay to the Rays is apparently a no go. The hesitation on the Griffey deal is starting to raise a flag with me. Probably will go through, but starting to wonder what the hold up is. It's now :30 past the deadline. Perhaps much ado about, well, a little?
  8. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) I bet my dad 50 bucks about 4 years ago that some day Griffey would be in a Sox uni. He's not answering his phone right now! Collect the $50 from him, then take him out to dinner using the money. Will be the best $50 you ever spent.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) Mays had retired by the time McCovey hit #500. I glanced at the 500 homer list, and I don't think it has ever been done. It was an "off the top of my head" guess.
  10. QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:56 PM) 3:02pm: Rosenthal stirs things up: the three-headed Manny-Bay-Hermida deal is back on. Fantastic! I thought Bay was Tampa bound?
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:51 PM) Here is my question... Has a team ever had two guys with 500 homers in the line up at the sametime? McCovey and Mays?
  12. Even if he makes to Minneapolis in time, I doubt they'd play him on that turf. Maybe he'll pinch hit.
  13. Which "Sox" are they talking about here?
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) Dude I'm 26 and I've been like that for a few years now. Heh. I can recall a conversation verbatim from high school but I can't remember why I went to the grocery store. Just wait. It gets worse.
  15. QUOTE (Cowch @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Per Roto World: According to Nationals writer Bill Ladson, Washington is discussing Joel Hanrahan, not John Lannan, with the White Sox. That makes a lot more sense. The White Sox would prefer a reliever anyway, and Lannan is someone the Nationals look at as a building block. Hanrahan won't come cheap, either, but he is a more realistic target. That's too bad, cause I really wanted Lannan. They better hurry.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) IIRC, Erstad had 17 last year. You know how it is with us old folks. We can remember 25 years ago but forget about yesterday.
  17. I thought we had retired Carlos May's number. I could be wrong.
  18. I know it's one of many signs I'm getting old, but when I saw this thread I thought of Jackson Browne.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) I figured as much. : Thanks for pointing it out. That had slipped by me.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) I assume you meant 2007? That would be correct... typo.
  21. QUOTE (th0mas35 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) Can the Sox do that if they decline his option? Yes, but they'd have to offer arbitartion.
  22. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) It was a dead a few hours ago. Once it fell apart, Pitt looked elsewhere. Nice to see Tampa reap the benefits of the Red Sox failure to execute. I think the Red Sox are better off for not having traded Manny. I thought it was a mistake from the get go. I reference 2004 and 2008 to make my case.
  23. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:18 PM) This is crunch time. Final terms have to be decided in about a half hour, so this when it gets tense. Usually, 4-5 deals get announced RIGHT at the deadline. Oh, it looks like Bay is a Ray. That kills the Manny deal I would think.
  24. s*** may hit the fan at the deadline, but it's awfully quiet right at the moment.
  25. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 02:08 PM) Deadline is up now yes? Wonder how many deals will be annouced here shortly. Hopefully KW got an arm to help out. Not till 3 central time
