  1. QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 08:28 AM) Only if you read them buddy, only if you read them. I read them sometimes, think of a few expletive deleteds to send out into the planetary conscienceness toward the poster and then move on.
  2. Turn out the lights. The party's over ... by Dandy Don Meredith
  3. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 03:46 AM) I dare someone to find a better place than Carbondale. Not gonna happen. I was in C'dale last weekend for a while.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) Again - neither of you is disagreeing with me. My whole point is that the reactions to every negative post tend to be just as worthless sometimes. Hell I could start a thread saying "this team really needs to tighten up its bad defense lately" (which is absolutely true) and I would bet next month's paycheck someone would say something like "quit whining, this team is in first place" Then again, the intensity and the quantity of negative posts around here are worse than worthless. They are a detriment to enjoyment of the season, the team and this site.
  5. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) without another SP we dont win this year. end of story. Who ... and for who?
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) Somebody said they'd gladly deal Alexei. I say, 'Why?' The guy is exciting. Why can't we have some exciting players around for say, five to 10 years? Why trade a find like Lexi?? I don't know. Maybe he doesn't walk enough. Some people get hung up on certain stats.
  7. I'm backing wite in this discussion.
  8. QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 09:58 PM) I'm gonna bump this up, in summary there are not many (if any) possible moves out there that make sense for this White Sox team. I've kinda felt that way all along. I mean, sure, I'd love to improve the team. But I have heard one rumor that was either realistic or beneficial to this team. The Halladay rumor wasn't realistic since Toronto said they aren't interested in moving him. I'd rather stick with Floyd than Duchserererererer, and wouldn't even consider throwing Fields into that deal.
  9. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:42 PM) Damaso Marte is now a Yankee. And he's about 15 minutes from a mental breakdown. He couldn't handle pressure in Chicago.
  10. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:43 PM) Dye blast sounds death knell for Tigers. Sox 58-43, 3.5 up on the damn Twinkies and 6.5 up on the damn Tiggers. It's too early for the Tiger's funeral dirge to be played.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) Beyond 2005, give me reasons why we shouldn't treat him that way. B to the motherf***ing A How about this? So Sox fans don't get compared to 'classy' Detroit fans.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) love hearing those classy detroit fans booing their team off the field After reading the game thread and having discussions on Sox fans booing Paulie, I wouldn't get too cocky in my evaluation of another team's fans.
  13. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Crede does not rake lefties ... and he doesn't rake against this lefty.
  14. Just looking at head to head stats, the Sox need to give Crede one more day of rest to be safe and start Uribe.
  15. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) Always sounded like a Boston piece with no real truth behind it, Boston backed off the deal?????? Come on, nice media spin. It was reported the KW was willing to split the difference between Uribe's salary and Cora's. Now it's said that Boston backed off the deal. There had to be more to the deal than just Cora coming the Sox way, because otherwise it doesn't make any damn sense whatsoever.
  16. This series and this road trip are huge. Need to get things off to a good start.
  17. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 12:24 AM) oh, and can we please 86 the term "under the radar"? I've grown so goddamn sick and tired of that word over the past 5 years, and every time I hear it, I just want to shatter a beer bottle over my head. How in the hell do you expect KW to find more grinders if he isn't operating under the radar?
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 02:21 PM) seriously, on what planet is Brian Roberts a superstar? I believe we are saying the same thing here.
  19. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 03:06 PM) F the Tigers...they are in trouble. Time to kill. I agree with your sentiments.
  20. QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 02:53 PM) I think we'll win the first two and have a good shot at the third one. A Sweep would be f'ing beautiful. I'm usually one of the most optimistic posters on the site. But I think you being overly optimistic. The Tigers are hot right now, and have been playing good ball for quite awhile and they are at home against the Sox who have less than stellar on the road. I HOPE we win 2 out of 3.
  21. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) Whats the difference from the people on this site who think Cuban ball is AA? If you take the Domicans, Venezualans, Japanese, Mexicans, Cubans from the Major Leagues. Where would you rate US Baseball?
  22. QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 02:23 PM) Peter Angelos's. That speaks for itself.
  23. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 24, 2008 -> 12:12 PM) He probably won't hit in the 1 or 2 spot if he continues to hack away at the first pitch. Dude has 8 walks in 251 ABs. That said, I don't have a problem with speed and power at the bottom of the lineup. Agreed. The author comparing the Cuban league to A-ball is an insult. Tad's upside-down throw was one of the most jaw-dropping plays I've ever seen. Alexei's was awesome by itself, but Paulie bare-handing the catch makes it even more bad-ass. Didn't Cuba finish as runnerup to Japan in the WBC? Regardless, I think that person has his baseball intelligence stuck up his ass.
  24. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 11:19 PM) If the season ended today and Hamilton won MVP over CQ the ONLY reason he would have won is because he loved drugs. There's a good lesson. I've seen you critcized for making this remark and I'm not going to do that. I am however, going to point out that people do falter and they do make mistakes ... sometimes huge mistakes. People fall prey to drugs, sex, gambling, achohol, food or any number of things. Some people let their particular vice take them down. Apparently, though it's never a sure bet, but Josh Hamilton has excersized some huge demons in his life. That shows a tremendous amount of intestinal fortitude and character even though he didn't show those qualities as he was falling into his own personal version of hell. He pulled himself up from that. Give credit for his accomplishments, because many do not have what it takes to recover from a postion in which they are in worse shape than they ever were when they started their fall to that position. He may spiral right back into it at some point. But as for this moment in time, Josh Hamilton deserves anything but criticism.
