Is this trade official yet?
-
QUOTE (JohnStamos @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:36 AM) Well considering the trade deadline is hours away I feel pretty confident in saying that Paul Konerko will be on the White Sox for the rest of the season. Finding someone who wants him, getting him to waive his 10-5, and finalizing a deal before 3 is not something that I would call possible right now. But then, you are here as Uncle Jessie! Relax ... just joking.
-
ESPN2 just reported that the deal is now awaiting Selig's approval, so there is some cash involved. Also said Masset and Richar are headed to Cinci.

QUOTE (JohnStamos @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) Konerko has a no trade clause. What makes you think he's gonna accept a deal to a non-contending team. Why is this so difficult to understand? It seems like everyday at least 5 people make this statement. There are a lot options out there to get someone to agree to a trade. Just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's impossible.

QUOTE (quickman @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:25 AM) this is a joke right? Who the hell cares? Your worried about a number? Let it go, quickman. It doesn't matter.

7/31 - White Sox @ Minnesota Twins (7:10pm CSN)

It would be nice to get this one. -
QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:21 AM) I've asked the Thome question before and since we didn't see Thome at 1B during interleague when Konerko was down, we definately won't see him at 1B now. I agree with this.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:18 AM) f***ing terrible deal. Let's see what the deal actually is.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:12 AM) Yes ... Griffey! ... but yeah I have no clue where hes playing and I am not reading 24 pages. I woke up to Silvy and whoever else is on right now, and my first thoughts was that Fields would be going somewhere, but my nightmares went away quick. Anyways "Expect a package of Brian Anderson, Nick Massett, and Wes Whisler" thats what is says on ESPN, I see someone put what it says on CBS, we will just have to wait. "Griffey has approved a trade to the White Sox and is expected to join the club immediately, according to a source with knowledge of the deal." http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/8398348...de-to-White-Sox He has accepted, I dont know if thats out there yet. That's too much. If we trade for Griffey, we certainly need BA's defense.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:09 AM) If that's the price, hey, more bats are cool to have. For some reason i have this feeling Swisher could be going to some costcutting team, since his contract is cheap I can see some team taking a shot on Paulie if the Sox pick up most of the contract. Then effectively, they'd be trading Paulie for Griffey.

QUOTE (letsgoarow @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:06 AM) ITS DONE! Jr. has approved per Ken Rosenthal So what, exactly, is done?

QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 08:08 AM) Actually I favor equality in the law. Perhaps expand it to cover Mexico. You do not post in Filibuster, but I live on the Mexico border and favor making it easier for people to come here. I was tweaking a few noses of those who complain when a yardman or waiter "defects" but can't wait for a SP with a 95 MPH fastball to defect. As long as they do it legally, I have no problem with it.
-
I'm like most of you. I just can't figure this one. There has to be more to it or something else in the pipeline.
-
QUOTE (Texsox @ Jul 30, 2008 -> 10:40 AM) Funny we don't seem to mind these "illegal aliens". If they have enrty visas, they aren't "illegal". And they won't be playing for any ML organization if they do not have the proper paperwork. Now, these guys would be considered 'illegal' defectors in Cuba, but that's Cuba.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 29, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Holy cripes, Clayton Richard has one hell of an arm. I'm excited about what him, Danks, Floyd are going to do for the Sox over the next few years. I realize its just a few starts and I'm on the DVR (so I'm only into the top of the 5th) but he has a few different variations of the fastball and a very deceptive delivery (gets good sink on one of his FB's, plus has a very good looking changeup). Well, as you should know by now ... you saw the best of Richard at that point.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 02:47 PM) MacD is still pretty bad. I'd guess its more likely that when Linebrink comes back, if Logan is still struggling, they'll send him to AAA and have Liney take his spot, leaving Wassermann in the pen. But I think Boone will get it figured out, so, this will all be moot. I hope you're right.
-
I'm guessing the Yanks will get him. The M's are holding out to the last minute hoping a better offer comes.

QUOTE (almagest @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 10:18 AM) There sure are lots of italics being tossed around in this thread. Be careful with those, guys. Someone might get hurt. Oh, and Gavin Floyd is a 25 year old pitcher who's having a pretty good season in the middle of a pennant race in the AL in his first full season in the majors. That's pretty impressive to me, but I guess if you're looking for 12 Ks a game or a shutout every other start you'll be disappointed. Perspective is a wonderful thing.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 08:26 AM) There is ALWAYS pressure in NY. Marte may be a bit more mature now than he was with the Sox, but I wouldn't give the AL East crown to Yanks because they got him.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2008 -> 07:19 AM) I'd be thrilled with a split in Minny. They are the ones on the chase, so all that does it make it 4 less games for them to make up ground. That's it. Four days off the calendar with the standings the same is to the Sox advantage.
-
QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Yeah, Minnesota sucks. Especially their basketball program. It's not like they have one of the better coaches in the NCAA or a top recruiting class coming in or anything. f*** them. I'm very happy that Tubby is coaching at Minnesota. Just saying.
-
When it comes down to it, overall Javy has been a disappointment since coming to the Sox. At times he's been good, damn good. But whatever reason, he has failed to live up to expectations. And's that is coming from a guy who thinks the negativity on Soxtalk is over the top.
-
Watching AJ's actions behind the plate, he was definitely not happy with Javy.
-
Thanks to both of you.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 09:48 AM) Good Interview, KW was pretty cool with them at the end, gave them a nice compliment about their show Did he say anything of substance?
