  1. Did that bunt call come from the dugout or did Hernandez just attempt the bunt for a hit? Has anyone heard?
  2. JM is history. Why keep kicking the man while he's down... and out?
  3. I'm with ss2k3. Ron Santo (and yes, Dick Allen) belongs in the HOF. In addition to his HR's he was a multiple time Gold Glove winner and All Star. Add to this the fact that he did it all while battling diabetes. Ron Santo's a HOF'er in my book. Of course, he should go in wearing a Sox cap.
  4. Agreed. Heck...Konerko for Thurston wouldn't be a bad trade. Thurston has fell out of love in LA and Konerko could go in there and provide pop. Personally I wouldn't make the deal, but if the Sox take on about 2 mill each season I'd think they would do it. Or set it up where you take on 2 mill a year if he doesn't reach certain numbers. Thurston could also give the Sox added depth at 2nd base. Also as far as 1st base/bench what would everyone think about bringing Ventura on to play Daubach's role? Ventura's always been one of my favorites and he can still hit at least as well as Daubach did for us. I'd be in favor of that.
  5. It all depends on how the payroll thing plays out. Can we afford to keep an $8mil a year DH? Can we afford not to keep Frank? KW has a lot of issues to deal with this off season that would affect my decision.
  6. I can't top Murcie's favorite Sox memory. But, here it is anyway. In 1983 I was at the park when Greg Luzinski hit a rooftop shot off Boston's Oil Can Boyd. It was the only rooftop shot I ever saw in person at Old Comiskey.
  7. Though I know, due to the timing of the respective seasons, that this scenario is impossible, if a playoff baseball game were on one channel, and a playoff hockey game were on another, I'd watch baseball. Of course, I'd flip over to hockey between innings. But, I am a baseball fan first and foremost.
  8. I do. Not bad at all. Now what do we call you for short? Soxplo?
  9. When the talent level is high, most of the manager's decisions look good. When the talent level is lower, certainly a lesser amount of those decision look good.
  10. I'll pay for you to play Bikini Paint Ball if I can wash the paint off of you after you are finished.
  11. Sex, Lies and Politics seems most appropriate.
  12. That would be me. I voted for Lincoln because of what he brought this nation through in the most trying of times. In fact, the fact that this was something he actually accomplished, as opposed to Jefferson's philosophy, was the deciding factor. Even though they were diametrically opposed, as you say, they were still both great men and even greater presidents. So smile at what you so obviously perceive as my ignorance if you must. I have my reasons for choosing those two and stick by it.
  13. Bulls***. You may have the will, but if you exercise the way, your ass ends up behind bars. Being a father in a certain situations has it's very real and very distinct disadvantages.
  14. Be supportive of your sister. It sounds like she's going to need it.

    I-90 Accident

Just from my experiences, some of those big rig drivers are "cowboys". These people are dangerous. They don't think they should have to slow down or yield, ever. It's like they think they have the right of way because they are bigger. I know some very good rig drivers, so I'm not bashing them as a whole. But, some of these jokers have no business on our nation's highways.
  16. All this time, I thought "Steph" was a synonym for doable.
  17. Roman, just keep your mouth shut. There is no way you will ever regret that. If you speak up, you just might end up regretting that.
  18. I read somewhere about 10 years back, that Frank fell out of a tree or something like that as a kid. It supposedly screwed up his shoulder, and that's why he has a funky throwing motion and no confidence as to where its going to go when he lets the ball go. It might have been a football injury, I can't quite remember. Or it could be "Steve Sax syndrome".
  19. Every time we see a new pitcher, the standing rule should be to take that pitcher as far into the count as possible. The more pitches he throws, the more the guys on the bench, on deck circle and even in the batter's box see.
  20. Damn! The Cubs beat us to the punch again
  21. Series tied at 1. Prior vs. Maddux at Wrigley on Friday. Sorry folks, but that is a must watch game. It's the baseball purist in me.
  22. Torre. And respect would be the key. I think the players would respect Torre more than Guillen, and that would be reflected in the way they play. Better play means more wins. More wins means more butts in the seats.

    Carlos Lee

I like the way you think, Jason. I really do think you'd be a good GM.
  24. Saw my first game at Old Comiskey, and it's always been a "magical" place in my eyes.
