QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) I think it's pretty dumb that IU blew up their entire Basketball program and put themselves 2-3 years away from contention and the NCAA still didnt think it was enough. Probation doesn't mean a whole lot, especially to a big time program like Indiana basketball. It's just a tool that sort of keeps Indiana on it toes for a few years (although they are there already with the Sampson debacle I'm sure), and mainly to keep the public and media from calling the NCAA soft, which people are going to do anyways.

Ever have a day so bad that the next day is doomed to suck as well? Yeah I'm sure we all have, and that was my day today. Absolute f***ing bull s***, and I will be miserable tomorrow as a self-fufilling prophecy due to still being angry over how today went. Can't wait for Thanksgiving morning to show up and cheer me up.

QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 08:12 PM) *Whew* ND almost choked that one away. They showed the whole arsenal in that game. Showed the amazing offensive firepower, but especially late, their inability to do anything resembling guard people almost cost them. The firepower can win them the vast majority of their games though, and that's a heck of a win, a neutral over Texas, and will help them seedingwise in March. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2008 -> 01:59 PM) Pip was one of the 100 best players at one point right? He will go down as one of the best players ever in the Bulls uni, but also as one of the better players of all time. D Rose has a chance to be every bit as good if not better though. Pip's career stats: 16.1 ppg 6.4 RPG 5.2 APG Alot of that is lowered by his older years, but at his peak he was still only a 20 8 and 6 guy. 20/8/6 and one of the greatest defenders in the history of the NBA is pretty damn good. He did play too long though. -
I agree with ss2k5. I was a MUCH bigger believer in the conspiracies of multiple shooters until I visted the site and walked the entire area very carefully. It really is a big area, and the sound could have easily echoed through it and caused confusion, especially with everybody likely in a state of panic. It would have taken a major expert to do such an act, but it sounds like LHO was just that. I believe there were DEFINITELY people asking/forcing (more likely the 2nd one) him to do this (the circumstances surrounding LHO's murder are so incredible for instance), but I think in terms of the shooting itself, LHO probably acted alone. But he had some powerful people behind him that were happy when the assassination itself was carried out by LHO, perhaps even within the government.

It amazes me how many people just forget about Scottie Pippen. He's a 1st team all defensive player in the history of the NBA, he was a great player, versatile, could do just about everything, and Michael Jordan isn't Michael Jordan (the best player ever, or even close for that matter) had he not had Scottie Pippen as a teammate. I know Scottie wasn't a great guy and did some things that were stupid, but he was a GREAT player, a legit top 50 player in NBA history. Rose's floor as an NBA player is the 3rd best player in Bulls history (assuming good health) and he is going to be one of the top 3 point guards in the NBA (at least) who plays in double digit all star games. But he has to actually achieve his potential and stay focused for a while before he can go into the category of Jordan or Pippen for that matter. I think he will get there though someday. -

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) I suggest you worry about Luol way more than Gordon who is our 2nd best player by far this year. Luol's contract was going to be a hinderance to this team even had he played up to his capabilities during the life of it. His drop off in play makes it even that much worse. This roster has a lot of rebuilding to do, but at least the best player is already there and that's the hard part. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Nov 24, 2008 -> 10:39 PM) I like to think of the rest of the team as Rose's thorns. If they let him he can carry them nearly every night. It's when they get jumpy (i'm looking at you Gordon) and try to do their own thing that things get messy. Agreed 100 percent. Realistically, the Bulls probably did what they SHOULD have done tonight in winning, as Utah was without Williams, Boozer, and Korver. However, Utah still had the long home winning streak in the regular season going back to last year, and it's still a circus trip win, so you take it anyway you can get it. Glad I was wrong that they wouldn't win in Utah or San Antonio. -

WOW, Bulls end Utah's 14 game (I think it was 14) home winning streak on a shot at the horn by Larry Hughes of all people, 101-100. Rose was sick, but he missed at the final seconds, only to see Hughes grab the rebound and score as time expired. Absolutely shocked they won that game, but hey we'll take it. Just get one more somehow for a 3-4 circus trip and I'll be content. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) The Bears have scored the 8th most points in football, yet their QB and HB are both overrated. How the hell are they scoring points? They had a fluke game (it was flukely for both sides) against Minnesota, a very good game at Indianapolis, and have beaten up on garbage 3 times. I hope Orton and Forte prove to not be overrated in the long run, but right now they both are. The Bears were 22nd in the league in yards per game entering today too, so they have been efficient in scoring when they've had a chance apparently as well. QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 11:40 PM) a top 5 all purpose running back does not compare to a corner outfielder, on a softball team hitting in a bandbox? A big reason for his all purpose yards position is he leads the league in touches, because he's all the Bears have in terms of offensive weaponry. Being all the Bears have and putting up the numbers he has is part of why he's so impressive, but at the same time part of the reason he has his numbers is he gets so many touches due to being all the Bears have. It's the chicken and the egg. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 11:30 PM) Hold on now, TCQ putting up his numbers for 80% of a season proves elite status where It is ridiculous to compare Forte to? So, if Forte keeps pace for 3-4 more games, will that change your mind? TCQ would have been the clear cut MVP of the American League had he not punched his bat. If Forte loses out on the MVP award (or just being the best player in the NFC) due to hurting himself in December, then yes, the comparison is perfectly fine with me. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) 1. Forte is the Bears Offense. Everyone knows he is getting the ball. It's no secret. Do you realize how much harder it is on someone when they are the focus of every opponents defensive game plan? How did it work out for Marion barber when his qb went down? 2. The Bears OLINE is horrible. Forte is having a great year, despite them. 3. Just for fun, compare LT's rookie year to forte in any category you want. (don't forget receiving yards, you seem to not put that into the equation) http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/stats?playerId=2553 Wow! LT had a lot of fumbles! 4. YPC as a rookie payton 3.5 Esmith 3.9 LT 3.6 Anthony Thomas 4.3 The places I can go with that example! 5. Checkmate You lost me when you compared Forte to LT, Walter Payton, and Emmitt Smith. Nice try, but that's a case of using hyperboles to the extreme. Forte is obviously having a very good season considering his lack of help, but he's got a ways to go to prove he's an elite player. Versatile yes, good yes, but elite, not yet. He was a great value pick in the 2nd round though. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 11:16 PM) no it's not. It's not close? That's just wrong. You can certainly say the east is better and be right, but it's quite close. Philadelphia sucks at this point, Washington has a good record, but has looked very beatable and really isn't a great team IMO. Dallas' resurgence could give the east a slight edge at this point, and the Giants are obviously the best team in football, but if you think the east is THAT much better than the south then it's a case of believing what ESPN says. -

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 11:00 PM) How about The Burner Turner today, guys? 120 yards and 4 TD's. Wow. I'm on Atlanta's bandwagon- Ryan is getting it done, the WR's have figured it out, Abraham gets to the QB like no other, and Turner is a monster. Burner has a shot at being the best NFL player from our school one day (he's certainly carrying my fantasy team). The problem with Atlanta is I still think they are still perhaps only the 3rd best team in the NFC South (game behind Carolina and Tampa Bay, the Falcons home loss to Denver last week was a killer), which might be the real best division in the NFL, although it's close with the East. -

QUOTE (rangercal @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 10:49 PM) Bulls***. 2 wins is a decent circus trip, imo. I'm serious. I can't agree with that, 2-5 is trash regardless of history. I thought they had a good shot at a 3-4 trip (they can win in Philly) had they won tonight, but the collapse was awful. They won't win in Utah or San Antonio, even with neither of those teams playing great ball right now. -

Alabama vs. Utah is a bad idea. Alabama would probably run for 250 to 300 yards on Utah, have the ball for 40 minutes, and win easily. Complete physical mismatch. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 07:19 PM) Oklahoma will also argue that while the Cotton Bowl is sort of neutral, it's still a game played in Texas. That would be quite the misguided argument. They sell the tickets 50/50, and even the campuses are almost an identical distance away (Norman is 190 miles from Dallas, Austin is 197 miles). It's as neutral a site for a game as you'll find. -

QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 08:58 PM) Knowing NBA people someone like Austin Daye will probably make the top-10 and Stephen Curry will slide. I know he's by far the best scorer out there, but they're not exactly fond of 6'0" shooting guards, unless they're a superfreak like Iverson. You are right on Austin Daye (he's a top 10 lock IMO between his potential and this draft crop, despite the fact I'm not completely sold on him yet), but Curry sliding is looking less and less likely with every assist he dishes out. If he can play a legitimately good point guard all season and into March, he'll for sure go in the lottery, if not the top 10. -

If Norv Turner isn't one of the worst coaches in the history of the NFL, I'd love to know how he's not. The fact the Chargers did what they did last year just tells you how talented they were, because he couldn't coach his way out of a wet paper bag. The fact they are 4-7 and will be unable to win that trash division is astonishing in my opinion. The coaching move I refer to by Turner specifically tonight was late in the game though. With 1:30 or so to go, San Diego hits a pass to the 30 but it forces 4th down. Instead of running the clock down before kicking the field goal (or at least making Indy call their last timeout, had they wanted to preserve clock), Turner immediately calls a timeout before San Diego kicked the game tying field goal. So Indy still had 1:30 or so and their timeout, giving them just enough time to get to the 32 or 33, spike the ball with no timeouts and only 2 seconds left, and kick the winner. Maybe the dumbest coaching decision I've seen in football all season long. I am certainly not a Chargers fan, but that offended my football sensibilities. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 23, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) Yes they do, they have the talent to be in that conversation, but they still shouldnt since they arent even going to win their own conference. They are going to get a share, but not win the tiebreaker. And damn, the BCS is crazy. I think Florida still controls it's own destiny, but even that might be up in the air, ESPECIALLY if Alabama were to somehow lose to Auburn. Texas is where it belongs ahead of OU, but i'm surprised Florida is only 4th. -
