  1. Danks really impressed me today. He didn't have his best stuff, he was getting squeezed, and still threw four scoreless, 1 hit innings. Floyd meanwhile, sucked. It was exactly what I expected to see, just like Danks BETTER be the #5.
  2. Oregon is winning this damn region. Florida's playing with fire BS won't work against them, and Brooks will score more than 8 this time.
  3. USC was just never the same after Taj's 4th foul, and by the time he got back in, everybody on SC was out of gas and the momentum was too big a hill to climb. And that was clearly a walk IMO, even in live speed, but since I have Georgetown in the Final 4 I'll take it. G-Town and UNC should be a classic.
  4. QUOTE(Nokona @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:15 PM) We'll empty the pocketbook for Pearl no doubt. It's up to him if he leaves UT. He'd never come back to the Big 10, and it has nothing to do with how Illinois fans feel about him.
  5. I was really hoping the Bulls would take a flier on this guy. I still don't understand how he maintained amateur status while he could technically sign with an NBA team at any time though.
  6. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 11:13 PM) Tyson with 22 points and 22 rebounds? God damn does that guy suck. What a bust.... His impressive display of "help defense" is why Kobe scored 50. He must have hit at least a dozen shots with Tyson pathetically lunging at him. However, Tyson is having a great year, I still contest he'd have never been more than what he always was here, he needed a change of scenery.
  7. QUOTE(Middle Buffalo @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) Mark McGwire has come out and said he had no knowlege that LaRussa had ever used alcohol. He also said that since the incident happened about 36 hours ago, he doesn't want to talk about the past, and that he believes in Tony. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 01:33 PM) Wouldn't that be similar to firing a gun in a crowd, but because you didn't hit anyone, it's not so bad? The crime is driving drunk, why should it matter what also happened? There would be separate charges for that. ^^^^^^^^^^^ The firing the gun in the crowd analogy is always the argument I try and use here. I don't get how it makes it any less of a crime if you get lucky and nobody is hurt. Now it's more of a crime if you seriously hurt or kill anybody, but just because you get lucky and nobody is hurt doesn't mean you should just get off.
  8. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) I love Tyrus Thomas, he has the potential to be so damn good. I guess i have been a little behind, but who is the likely rookie of the year in the nba? Oh they are already engraving Brandon Roy's name on that trophy, especially with Bargnani out for a while with the appendicitis.
  9. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) you sure have alot of opinions. haha I pretend to know a lot, but really college and pro basketball, Illinois and NIU Athletics, and MLB are my only true knowledge areas.
  10. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 09:51 AM) Altman would be a great choice. Didn't Crean turn down the Illinois job in 03? If that's the case, I don't see why he would go to Iowa. I happen to think he is overrated anyway. Yeah, Illinois decided Matta and Gillespie weren't good enough and were turned down by Crean before hiring Weber. Oops.
  11. Yeah you guys got a much tougher draw than I thought, the best defense team in the nation followed by what is IMO the 2nd best defensive team in the nation on the road, hence me saying I think the UCLA/KU winner is the clear favorite in this whole tourney, even though I got Ohio State and their magic wand of comeback luck winning in my bracket.
  12. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:18 PM) Agreed. I'll take a Gators romp, or at least by 10. Oregon is playing at the top of their game right now, and may just have to end UNLV's sweet run adruptly, I actually like the Ducks to head to Atlanta. Same here on Oregon, they aren't getting enough credit. If Oregon heads to Atlanta, UCLA beats KU, and Ohio State wins it all....I'm all but a lock to win a bit over 500 dollars in pools. So yeah, I got some rooting interests.
  13. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 09:02 AM) I am just hoping SIU was "that game" that causes a team to wake up and see the finish line. I still have not taken a breath yet from last night, any drink recommendations to wake me up. yoo-hoo does the trick for me. And last night's game makes me think you guys are in trouble against UCLA, they play almost as well as SIU does on defense, and their guards won't miss all those looks from deep. However after seeing the rest of this tourney, the UCLA/Kansas winner is, to me, the favorite to win it all. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 08:55 AM) If you would have told me yesterday that SIU was going to hold Rush to 12 points and Wright to 7 points, and lose the game, I would have said you were nuts. Like I said (and was right for once), the SIU defense would be fine, but the reason they'd lose was the Kansas defense (although SIU got more good looks than I was anticipating). Now it was closer than I thought, but SIU simply couldn't buy a hoop. The amazing part is that they were outshot 59 percent to 34, only tied Kansas at 10 in FT points, and still only lost by 3. KU must have had 20 turnovers last night, and it seemed like all of SIU's points came off of them.
  14. QUOTE(max power @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 05:00 AM) What the hell is props short for anyway? Propers (I think) and I give them to Mr. Dylan. Nicely done sir.
  15. Ok, if Quinn is good I'll admit I was wrong (just like with Kirk Hinrich) and if he sucks like I think, you ND guys admit your wrong. Fair? I'll still be posting as this god forsaken site I'm sure when we find out either way, lol.
  16. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) DeAndre Thomas is awful. HAHA, you've also seen him play more than once I assume
  17. Bulls are an even 40-30 after their win last night. What a great ending that game had, Tyrus with the amazing tip in with 00.2 left to win it by 1 point. And even a Kobe hater like me realizes that Kobe will retire as a top 10 player ever, and if he wins another title or two, a top 5 player.
  18. QUOTE(shoota @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 05:34 PM) Irony? Nah, I'm not risk the lives of myself and others dumb. I can't believe Tony was barely drunk though, that story sounded like a hammer time, blew a .24 type. As for cops....I've had enough friends get pulled over for DWB to know how much those people can suck.
  19. Congrats on the new baby and everything going well!!
  20. That's harsh aboz, accurate but harsh. I still think he does a very good job at Minny though. And is somebody in this thread actually arguing that UK can outbid Ohio State? LO FREAKING L!!!!!!! Ohio State has more money than most countries does, nobody outbids them for coaches OR players.
  21. As much as there were bad calls, SIU got a tip in after a shot that hit the rim....problem was that first shot that hit the rim was released after the shot clock buzzer. Anybody who Tivo'd the game can find it later in the first half I believe, but it was almost as bad as the KU one, no idea why they didn't show replays. However, SIU did lose a point by the refs on the no call goaltend which cost Tatum a 3 point play (he made both FT's though) and 2 more on the missed lay up duo of Mullins and Tatum on that breakaway play, and there's your final score (which I didn't miss by much in my guess ). SIU is a hell of a team, and they have a lot coming back and coming in, so they'll keep doing their thing. UCLA looked damn good, I feel a lot better about having them beating KU after tonight.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 12:22 AM) Speaking of Gus, Bill Simmons has had some great comments about Gus lately. Is it safe to say that Gus is the breakout individual of this tournament? Why did James Brown have to sign with CBS? Gus has been doing it for a decade or so now, not sure how it took people this long to see how entertaining he is. As for the games....Memphis and ATM was a classic, and you have to call that foul IMO. Problem was there is NO WAY they should have put the clock at 2 seconds flat, 2.8 would have been more accurate. And for the 2nd time this tourney, Ohio State made me crumble up and throw away my paper bracket, then search and find it in the trash after they came back, lol. Should be a great final, and if tOSU wins, this would be the first region ever that I will have run the table in, I've gotten every game in the South right so far somehow. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 08:49 PM) Way to f***ing take half a f***ing hour to f*** up the call anyway you douche bags Had A&M going far eh? Well my UT, tOSU final prediction was way off, but having Memphis 68-66 was awfully close.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 08:38 AM) Endangering everyone on the road with an alcohol-guided 3000 pound missle is worse. I think we need to take Germany's stance on DUI, or something similar. First offense - no driver's license for 5 years or so, probation/supervision over any other crimes during that period, and if an accident is involved, some short jail time. Second offense, a year in jail minimum (more if accident involved), and no driver's license again, ever. Thanks for backing me up man. Good to see people have brains. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 09:26 AM) I'm not against that at all. I'm just saying the thing he said was over the top. To clarify, I don't wish an accident on them. However if they get into one while drunk, they deserve it for their decision. If that's too mean, then I'll agree to disagree.
  24. They saw how good their rotation could be and how bad their bullpen will be, so this makes sense. Surprised it took this long.
  25. I think Florida and Oregon might both win big here. These games look like total mismatches IMO.
