  1. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Nope. No sarcasm. I liked the way the blue seats looked. I knew they had to be replaced, but to me, the blue seats were nicer than the green ones. Oh my, I must disagree. Those blue seats were an eye-sore and looked far too "Cubbie" to be in our ballpark. I like the darker look the park has taken, and the fact that we are putting in the dark green seats now.
  2. Seeing Tyson do that makes me feel good. Until I look at the box and see Elton Brand has 16/6/4/2 blocks at halftime. Yeah, I'm still bitter....however it's good to see Tyson doing much better. Also, the Bulls had a 34 to 20 advantage in free throw attempts tonight, so a bizarre night all around.
  3. a .251/.311 split from your DH SUCKS. It SUCKS.....Thome will blow that away if healthy, not even close. Huge upgrade there.
  4. Pully and Dollar Bill need to crash into a tree or something. Mean as it is, those 2 need to be dead before the Hawks have ANY shot at going anywhere.
  5. QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 07:55 PM) Will Jim Thome + Brian Anderson hit 48 home runs next year combined? Thats what Rowand + Everett + Thomas contributed last season. Its not impossible, Anderson could be in the teens and should Thome stay healthy he figures to be around 40+. If Jim gets hurt again I don't know what they will do, Ross Gload? Hell of a risk for a defending Champion. Not as much of a risk as bringing back a broken down Frank. And as long as Thome is healthy, he's going to hit 35 or so and BA should be good for 15 to 20, which equals a slight improvement. Also, as terrible as people seem to think it is, fact is BA will be an improvement over Crash in the OF, has better speed, and really more talent period.
  6. I remember him at Texas.....ANOTHER UNDERSIZED 4!!! Come on Pax, your making me crazy.
  7. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Are these guys coming in for the upcoming season or the season after? Upcoming season.
  8. Anybody that participates in or watches reality TV. Every person involved with ESPN, I can't even watch that channel anymore other than games. Whoever came up with the idea that Music Television should abandon music. Damn, that sucks. At least MTV2 is ok, and Ipods and satellite radio exists. All politicians, regardless of political affiliation. They all suck, and are full of s***.
  9. Both guys are a risk....but Frank has a longer and much more "spooky" injury history that Thome does. Also, Thome is a lefty and MUCH better in the clubhouse, as well as closer to 100 percent than Frank is (regardless of what Frank says). I am not concerned at all, other than making sure Thome is 100 percent come early April.
  10. I have ZERO problem with bandwagon fans and new fans. My issue is with the people that will jump off as soon as we lose 4 in a row. If last year made you a fan, great....but STAY a fan from now on. There is a difference between new fans and front runners.
  11. Also, after the interview....Holmes said BA finished his slice of pizza, didn't eat the crust, and gave the crust to a little kid as a souvenir. Classic!!
  12. Just wrapped up. Sounds like a real goofball and very loose, should fit right in. Talked about how "he will play left or center, wherever Scotty decides not to play" which I found interesting. Says basketball is his favorite sport, but he sucks at it so he plays baseball now (also said he only play basketball even in HS becuase his team was so awful). Said defense is about being smart, but also aggresive. Says you can't prevent physical errors, but mental errors are something he tries to always avoid. Talked about how pitchers will be relieved to see him up there in the 8 or 9 spot after going through the meat of our order. Said people mistake him for Geoff Blum, even though he "has better hair, but isn't nearly as good looking". Laurence Holmes complimented him on being a real nice kid and wished him luck. Overall, very good interview. BA sounds like a real likeable guy and I think he will go very well. Damned funny too, had me laughing a few times with his answers.
  13. 4 star DB Chris Duvalt from Florida and 4 star OL Ramone Johnson of Morgan Park both have Illinois in their top 2 as well, and 3 star DB Vontae Davis of Maryland is still a possibility. Hopefully we can land at least 1 of those guys.....I think Ray Ray is going to end up in Knoxville, but hopefully I'm wrong and/or we can land Duvalt or Davis as another DB, Lord knows we need them.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 27, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) Britt James Wilkins Don't forget Hagans, one of the best players from Wisky, Morgan out of Ohio. I think the chance to get Britt is why a few days ago the kid from Miami changed his commitment to UCF. This WR class is one of the best incoming in the nation. Hopefully Juice and these WR's get a chance to play right away and take their lumps early on, they could be scary in a couple years.
  15. 4 star WR Kenny Britt of New Jersey has verballed to Illinois, per rivals. http://illinois.rivals.com/ Awesome news, wtg Zooker.
  16. I'll be watching Heads, it will be one of the VERY few Big 12 games this year that might not be a total suckfest. I'll also be watching the Red River Shootout tomorrow night, another one which could be good.
  17. A 37 year old with bad kness that can't throw catching everyday in a pitchers paradise.....what could possibly go wrong?
  18. Frank the player=Amazing, and damn it sucks to see him in Oakland Frank the person=Childish douchebag who has never truly learned. Sucks, but that's how life goes. Regardless, I still appreciate the fact he's the best player in franchise history and hope he does well for the A's.
  19. Since it apparently is mentioned in this thread too, great trade by the T-Wolves IMO.
  20. T-Wolves come out like bandits in this one IMO.
  21. I would be very surprised if Cumberland qualifies. If not, hopefully he goes for prep school next year and then re commits to the Illini a la Rahkeem Smith. This kid is a stud prospect and would be the jewel of this class besides Juice obviously.
  22. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jan 26, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) Its the Blackhawk way. They win just enough games to make sure they get about the 5th or 6th pick, just bad enough not to get an impact player. Never fails. *sighs* I really want to support them, but if they are going to suck every year, I just can't. Hockey simply isn't a sport I can get into if the Hawks are bad, because other than them I could care less. I really think if they could ever just be consistently good enough to make the playoffs, the fans are there and would support them.
  23. 2-0 win over a 1st place team? Great goaltending? Who are these guys and what did they do with the Hawks?
  24. As long as Anderson is strong mentally (which I think he is, he's a goofball by all accounts) he will make us forget about Rowand in a hurry. People loved Rowand because he played so hard and was a good guy and team guy, and I don't mean to diminish him here... but seem to forget something; he wasn't all that good. Crash has average speed, other than 2004 wasn't all that great at the plate, and many of his really good catches are plays Anderson could make in his sleep with his better angles and general speed. This whole offense is based on Thome though IMO. If he stays healthy, we will be top 3 to 5 in the AL. If not, we will be around last year, although a bit better IMO.
  25. My last thought on this for now, why aren't the players families in a skybox?? They shouldn't be sitting around a bunch of fans who could be drunk and/or stupid.
