  1. Is his OPS over 1.000 now?
  2. There would've been riots in the streets if that was all the White Sox got for Sale. I have to believe Bryant has similar value.
  3. Why? They'd want Eloy back. To start.
  4. If both of them make it, OF defense won't be much of a concern.
  5. Machado has no star power? Hasn't he been one of the most talked about names in the league for a year now? Wasn't he just in the World Series? I think he's more of a household name than many around here seem to believe.
  6. I think Machado would do the same, and doesn't carry the same injury and inconsistency risks, not to mention he plays the one position this team has no answers for in the rebuild (3B).
  7. Which two (maybe three?) of the following could the White Sox get from them for Castillo or Narvaez: SS Andres Gimenez 1B Peter Alonso OF Jarred Kelenic SS Ronny Mauricio LHP David Peterson RHP Justin Dunn 3B Mark Vientos RHP Franklyn Kilome OF Desmond Lindsay LHP Anthony Kay LHP Thomas Szapucki C Francisco Alvarez
  8. Okay, I'm not worried about his power anymore. Wow.
  9. I'd've given up Narvaez and Engel to get Mallex Smith, and that's a better package than what the Rays got IMO.
  10. I'd say the Mariners got the better value.
  11. I'd be surprised if the team that gives him that doesn't regret it.
  12. Basically with Corbin, you're risking paying ace prices for a #3 starter, with likely a 6ish year commitment to that.
  13. Corbin is IMO too risky for what he's likely to get paid. I think for the money you'd spend on Corbin, or close to it, you could likely get Yusei Kikuchi, Gio Gonzalez, Michael Brantley, and Nelson Cruz. I think the latter four put the team in better position to contend alongside Machado than the former.
  14. Fangraphs had him at about 2/$30.
  15. In which case signing him to the contract he'll want would be a huge overpay. If the White Sox can only get one, it needs to be Machado.
  16. Machado fits the rebuild perfectly. He plays the one position the organization has no answers for right now, he's a legitimate Gold Glove caliber defender there, he rarely misses games, and he rarely falls below 5 WAR in a season. Harper is more like trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. He's a lefty power bat, but he's missed a lot of games due to injury, has bad-average defense, is a risk to need to be moved to DH, and plays the position where the organization has its greatest depth.

Lambert is a starter that went from org filler to legit prospect due in part to the uptick in his velo.

Specifically because it's in the AL Central. Didn't sign any QOs and didn't commit more than 2 years to anyone over 30. Those are intended bridge players to the swarm of talent the team has in High A.
  19. No they're not. Some teams, even prominent big spending teams, are telling their fanbases that they won't be going after one or both of these guys.
  20. The simplest solution seems to be to just sign both.
  21. I'd like to see them do that. Structure the deals for when the team has to pay its own, opt outs and all. Something like: 45-45-40-/-45-35-30-/-30-/-25-20-15 That's a 10 year $330 million deal with opt outs at years 3, 6, and 7 which is clearly designed to be opted out of after year 7. I feel like that offer would be attractive to both players for many reasons, and it would allow the team ideal flexibility in payroll in the back end years, with likely opt outs after year 7.
  22. If Eloy is as good as we hope, they'll eventually have to give him a "[one] of the biggest in history" contract as well, so if they're not ready to spend when appropriate, there's no point to this whole endeavor.
