  1. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) 1) Why is a .200 hitter starting for the Sox at first? Why is Geoff Blum in the majors? You talk about how Ozzie is in love with Timo, what about this loser who should not be wearing a major league uniform? Get him off the team. 2) MB is a nice number three starter, but no Cy Young candidate. Mark: instead of criticizing fan support, learn how to pitch with a lead. If you need examples, see Dewey Hoyt in 1983. A top pitcher doesn't give up the lead TWICE after his team battled back. Disgraceful!!! 3) There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with the upper deck at US Cellular. I sat almost in the top row and had a great view of the game. Anyone who criticizes the upper deck is a moron. Go to Yankee Stadium, or for that matter, Coors Field and sit at the top of the upper deck. Case closed. 4) I don't understand why there weren't more people at the game. I am not an attendance critic, but it was a beautiful Friday night against a top team in the AL and we couldn't break 30k. That's bad. However, I would never criticize someone who didn't go--ticket prices are too high and food and drinks are an outrage. I just think there are enough people in Chicagoland who could go to a game to see the best team in the majors fight it out against another top team. That said, I enjoyed having elbow room. 5) Ross Gload should shut his mouth until he gets a key hit or makes a play in the field. Poor throw on Guerrero. Shut up Ross. See you in Milwaukee next year, you whining wuss! 6) Sox fans are the best in the world! I shouted myself hoarse tonight and it was great to see such enthusiasm at the park. It's a shame our manager played another one of his curious lineups 7) Jenks is a stud! 8) This team won't go far with a manager who favors AAA ballplayers who shouldn't be near a major league stadium. 9) Sorry I couldn't see you guys Thursday night, but I had to work too late. Just as well--another frustrating game for Sox. 10) Despite everything, I want to go back Saturday and/or Sunday! I love the Chicago White Sox!!!! 11) Anytime Carl wants to get a hit, it's OK with me. Good night, God bless and take you shots, boys!!! Uh oh....bye bye.
  2. I'm not understanding how this thing was set up. It seems like you should have had a section all together, but, instead, were scattered all around the park. If it was anonymity you were seeking, you could have stayed home in front of your computer.
  3. I feel bad. These guys aren't making enough money now. I have $34 left from the second place money I won last year. Who do I make the check out to?
  4. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 08:03 AM) It goes kind of like "bum BUM bum bum-bum bum, bum BUM bum bum-bum bum...". Does anyone recognize what song I am talking about? If not perhaps you could list the songs you know are played regularly and I could look them each up until I recognize it. SFF That's "The Little Drummer Boy."
  5. QUOTE(qwerty @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 05:44 PM) 1994 david cone won the cy young for the royals... the same year bob hamelin won the rookie of the year. That's true for the AL, in the NL Fernando won both in '81.
  6. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 06:20 AM) Finished product. I went with the longer bags. Why did you make the bags out of wood?
  7. Since people are talking attendance, did the Soxtalk & (I forget the other sox board name) outing ever happen? If so, was there tension like "West Side Story" and "Beat It?" Ooh, I can just imagine the dance off.
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 11:25 AM) There is no IMG button on your keyboard. There is however an IMG button here: I thought using green would be overkill in this case.
  9. OK, I've just spent the last 5 minutes looking for an IMG button on my keyboard. Must be an upgrade.
  10. QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 12:23 PM) Their kids will be fast and hot. Pods likes fast cars and fast women. The guys in his car club call him cruiser.
  11. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) The fact is we have A LOT of "head cases" on this pitching squad. Garcia, Garland, and Contreras to name a few more. This is not to criticize the squad. Their brilliant stats are indisputable, but MANY times their heads are in the nether regions. :banghead You might add MB (certified conspiricy theorist - ugh) to the headcase list. Man, were they gushing about BMac on the broadcast yesterday. My head actually outgrew my Sox hat. Good thing I have an extra large Notre Dame hat for such occasions.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) kind of explains why they bother putting a date on the bottle. I use condoms that are expired all the time. Kind of explains the three kids.
  13. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 09:05 AM) We could get into the nature vs. nuture debate in all this. Um, I'll wait for Juggernaut to supply the mathmatical equation and skip the debate.

    Allergies

I still can't figure out how I can be Irish and have some genetic inability to deal with a little ragweed. The whole damn country is green, but my eyes itch for a month and a half because some neighbor is cutting his grass.

The only thing I don't miss about Chicago is having hay fever from August 15 until the first frost in October.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 6, 2005 -> 08:32 AM) I also believe, we should realize that the poor are probably less educate and probably, as a group, with less mental resources and skills in reasoning, problem solving, etc. I would tend to disagree with the notion that the poor have a lower ability to reason and problem solve. The biggest problem and failure in this case was that the government (local and national) did not have an adequate evacuation plan and alert system in place. Think of the logistics. How would people move from inner city of New Orleans to a safer place? Was there transportation ordered by the governing bodies? Are these people expected to walk miles and miles to safety? How far? Where do they stay? How do they get back to their homes when the storm passes (assuming it passes without major damage)? If were told to leave your home, and you didn't have transportation, some members of your family were sickly or very young and unable to walk for miles at a time, and had no idea where you were supposed to go, what would you do? Probably stay put and hope like heck the threat passed without harm.
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 5, 2005 -> 05:11 PM) "My agent told me to play in Japan for a year to clean the steroids from my system. I'd say it's working."
  18. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) when sox fans are happy, they're quiet. When they're not, look out Bill Simonsen.
  19. QUOTE(Benchwarmerjim @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 05:39 AM) City of New Orleans-Arlo Guthrie . I know its about a train, but its a pretty cool song Willie Nelson does a good version, too.
  20. Sounds boring. I'd consider it if it's taught in ebonics.
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) 6'3, 170 but I have no clue! take your pulse for 10 secs, then multiply that number by 6
  22. QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 4, 2005 -> 10:59 AM) There's this new show on VH1 that is just an absolute complete ripoff of the jack black movie "school of rock", they just made it a reality show. The show might be watchable if they actually were honest with themselves and used Jack black and just called it the school of rock. I cannot get into that "Hogan Knows Best" show. There is absolutely nothing real about that show.
  23. I read an article in SI about George W. Bush. He went mountain biking with a group of reporters (GW is a workout nut), and it said GW's resting heart rate is 47 beats per minute ("Lance Armstrong territory"). Mine is 60 (at 6'2/205lbsand I'm seriously out of cardio shape). What kind of shape are you in?
  24. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 3, 2005 -> 07:46 PM) How many of those born in America would risk their life for the American dream? ...being separated from friends and family, language barriers, and having to look over your shoulder 24/7 for the rest of your life. Not to mention, the work illegals do in this country is not exactly the most desirable work to have. It's a tough life.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) There was billions of dollars sent from almost all countries around the world. That's good to know.
