  1. I don't trust people who don't swing their arms at all when they walk. It just looks weird.
  2. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ May 17, 2016 -> 05:57 AM) By the letter of the rule, Westbrook traveled, but I really don't wanna hear whining about it from Golden State, they blew a 16-point lead and put themselves in the situation where they had to hope Westbrook f***ed up. It's hilarious that there's even a controversy about traveling in the NBA. Yes, Westbrook traveled and dragged his pivot foot on that play. And he and everyone else does it the entire game. The traveling and dragging/moving/changing pivot foot makes the NBA borderline unwatchable for me. I don't even understand how you can play organized basketball your whole life and feel (in a physical-muscle memory way) like it's ok to travel. It feels so odd to me when I play to take an extra step. And pickling up or changing my pivot foot - out of the question.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ May 10, 2016 -> 06:08 AM) With The Score turning Cubs, ESPN Chicago is about the only non-Cubs connected station left. I listen to The Score interviews podcast, and at least they seem to make an effort to bring on some Sox guests. I'm sure the main body of the shows is mostly Cubs talk, though. I used to listen to ESPN 1000, and they didn't even try. They had Doug Padilla following the Sox, and Jesse Rogers following the Cubs. Rogers had to be on ten times more frequently than Padilla. Now they don't have anyone following the Sox at all. Keep in mind, I live out of town, so I have to go somewhere for Chicago-centric sports news, and SoxTalk is my first stop.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 9, 2016 -> 05:30 PM) Nice job Strasberg. For that injury history, that is insanity. Nats will regret this contract. They should be saving every dime for Harper right now. He'll be worth the biggest contract in baseball.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 9, 2016 -> 09:41 PM) I think Harper might get fined or suspended for this, but it's absolutely hilarious. Based on my novice level lip reading ability, it looks like he might be doing a quick homage to Andrew Shaw.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 10, 2016 -> 04:57 AM) I can't believe people still would ever consider using ESPN Chicago as a resource. I'm a bit of a masochist, I guess.
  7. 1st place Sox win in extra innings with a Grand Slam (not a walk-off, I know), and on ESPN Chicago, 18 of the first 21 baseball stories/videos feature the 1st place Cubs - who were rained out. I guess that's a fairly even split.
  8. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 7, 2016 -> 08:20 PM) At a SW side wedding tonight, total CFD/Polish (down by the airport variety... you know... fly in the extended fam from Warsaw) and half the men gathered round the TV watching the Sox. Lotta Sox talk, the buzz is palpable amongst the base. Typical Sox fans. They'd rather watch on tv than go to the game.
  9. Hawk has an eyepatch laying around somewhere. Clean it and give it a whirl.
  10. He's not going anywhere, so there's no point in extending his contract. Let it expire and deal with him then. He's not a guy who other teams covet.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ May 2, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) That would be crazy if Heyward played poorly enough that he didn't opt out and actually played out the full 8 seasons in Chicago. Just always expected him to be gone in 3, still assuming that happens. Look, this team is so loose, it's not possible that any of them have any prolonged struggles. They were wearing wacky suits yesterday. Heyward will be fine.
  12. So, I'm in the process of moving, and I don't have HBO right now. I saw the first episode of GOT, but might not be able to catch up with the others for a little while. It's going to be hard to avoid knowing what's going on. I open up my homepage, and it seems like every other headline has to do with GOT.
  13. ESPN.com has what I'm guessing are each team's beat writer (based on Jeff Dickerson for the Bears) giving a thumbs up or down to each team's draft. Only the guys for SF and Oakland went thumbs down. I guess 30 teams had good drafts.
  14. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 05:54 AM) Callers on local radio saying Hossa needs to retire. Hossa is going to be with the Hawks for years in some fashion. That recapture is nasty. He's fine if he's not on the top two lines. St. Louis was the better team for much of the series, although they had really shaky goaltending last night. Hawks failed to convert a few real nice chances. It's officially baseball season now.
  15. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 26, 2016 -> 04:08 AM) You're gonna win 54 games. You're gonna lose 54 games. That was one of the other 54 lol Oh, no. I hope you're wrong. I was counting this as one of the 54 losses. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure we haven't won any of our guaranteed 54 wins, we've lost 6 of our guaranteed 54 losses, and we're 14-0 in the other 54. I'll double check with Hawk.
  16. QUOTE (AustinIllini @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 12:18 PM) Yeah, F the guy that made the Blackhawks a megabrand If this is true, the White Sox should spare no expense to take him from the Blackhawks. Attendance problem solved. One fewer thread on SoxTalk.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 07:09 PM) Best stretch of our lifetime by far I believe He's unbelievable right now. Count me among the PED suspicious, but who knows? I'm jealous. It's probably Pilates and diet. Closest thing I remember (and not nearly as dominant) was Jose Contreras going 17-0 over a 24 game stretch in 2005-06.
  18. My guess is that Elliott thought he was interfered with because his stick was pinned to the ice. But, it was under the skate of one of the Blues. Hawks were outplayed in this one. It seems like the Blues are on a power play when it's even strength. And, any chance they can stop passing right to the Blues when we're trying to clear the puck? Even in the Cup years, the Hawks are so sloppy with the puck around our goal.
  19. WWE wrestler, Chyna, found dead. No cause released. 45 years old. Another wrestler dying too young.
  20. I think the fine, suspension and sensitivity training are all fair and just punishments. Shaw acted like an idiot and lost his composure. To me, what he said is really bad if it was directed at someone who is gay or is thought to be gay. I suspect, though, that it's his ignorant way of emasculating someone. Also bad, but different. Growing up, f** was something kids called each other as a put down. Same as retard. It's not acceptable now, nor should it be. I hope Shaw understands that the player or ref he was yelling at probably doesn't care about what he was yelling (assuming he is not gay). But, a kid at home watching who is gay might be hugely impacted by what he or she was seeing. Back to hockey, I hope the rest of the Hawks can raise their level of effort to that which Shaw brings every time he's on the ice. He never seems to take a shift off.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2016 -> 01:45 PM) Interesting interview with Rafael Palmiero http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/rafael-...moves-on-041816 Good stuff. I've always wondered why he isn't brought up as much as the rest of the steroid guys. Based on his pure numbers, he'd have to be a first ballot guy. Pretty well rounded career. Looking at the photos - man, I loved Will Clark.
  22. Every time the discussion of allowing steroid users into the HOF comes up, people argue that there's already known cheaters (Gaylord Perry) and bad guys (Ty Cobb) in the Hall. I heard an interesting interview on the Score (Rozner & Ostrowski - I think) with the author of a book that refutes almost everything we think we know about Ty Cobb. Link to the author's website http://www.charlesleerhsen.com.
  23. He has CDXX and a marijuana leaf tattooed on his hand. CDXX = 420. Subtle. Probably common knowledge, but I don't follow anything Manziel very closely. I'm sad for the guy not being able to control himself, but he seems like a real dickhead.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 12, 2016 -> 06:54 AM) The only actor I thought didn't do a good job was John Travolta. Everyone else did out of the park jobs at their roles. It was either terrible or great. I can't decide. It kind of grew on me.
  25. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 7, 2016 -> 07:36 AM) So the People vs OJ Simpson was worth a watch. It got a little corny at times, but there was so much of the personal interaction stuff I knew nothing about. I did everything I could NOT to follow the trial when it was going on. I started a new job the day before the murders took place. My office was 90% black, and the portrayal of the racial divisiveness in this trial was spot on. It was so uncomfortable at work when people would start talking about the trial that I actively avoided it as much as possible just so I could stay out of the conversations. My work environment during the trial was just like the jury room portrayed at the end of the series. I think they did a great job with the show. It was at once corny and masterful. Cochrane, Darden and Clark were great. And Cuba Gooding was really good, especially the scenes where he did nothing but look sad and tired.
