Dan johnson
Dan Johnson I build a shrine to you. Dan Johnson I forget your earlier years and overall unimpressiveness (and age)...those three home runs have earned you a special place in my heart regardless.

AJ may have played last game for Sox
But Flowers is ready in that he can contribute in all facets passably well and then the AJ money can be spent on other things. The opportunity cost of keeping AJ is the thing that happens to the other positions of need. Due to money lacking.

AJ may have played last game for Sox
With Flowers ready, that money just has to be spent elsewhere. The chance of a repeat of AJ's offense is not worth what we'd probably get...which is the free-swinging high avg/low obp.. plus poor catching. There is no question AJ's offense was a huge part of us getting as far as we did. It also should not be something that keeps us from doing...anything

Steve Stone NOT leaving
I don't approve of what Hawk does in the booth, or his beliefs about the game...but I would not want him to leave yet. Granted that makes no sense, but I would think others are in that boat w/ me

Word on 35th . . .
Reinsdorf is kind of funny about his old allegiances. He apparently really thought about bringing back Doug Collins a few years back....and there were some rumored aspects of the Reinsdorf/Collins falling out way back in the day that trump anything between Ozzie and Reinsdorf (to level ten) All that said, my expectation would be that door is totally shut and could only reopen for some sort of future office or ambassador role.

Why Is Dan Johnson Still at Charlotte?
Lets not get Dan Johnson fever. If he was a better bet than Konerko, his career up to this point would show it. This is an older player, and there's no mystery about him.

Sept 29 Devil Rays @ White Sox: Memorial Day Pt. 2
Perhaps Tyler Flowers' most important at-bat ever. And I hope I don't mean to include the future as well...but quite possibly.

Sept 29 Devil Rays @ White Sox: Memorial Day Pt. 2
If he mentions Sale after a start like this, it actually embarasses Chris even more than if he hadn't

Worst collapse in franchise history?
QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 10:53 AM) A lot of your posts lately are of this nature, almost like you aren't included as a fan. I find it interesting. I'm actually with him on that one. Just because you root for a team doesn't mean you have to consider yourself part of a united group. Maybe that's not the point he's making, but I've always felt that way about myself. These are the teams I root for-- whoever's rooting around me, these people I don't know.... I can't say I have tons of allegiance to them.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 10:33 AM) What took you so long? to be fair, if i remember right-- i only favored Wise because he was a veteran. my stance was --they're both bad. And next year I'll go back to hoping we rely on neither for anything.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
There's no way to ascertain if a team is choking, or if they are simply in a valley since their talent is flat out not special. The game is all peaks and valleys. We were on some serious peaks early in the year. But when you have lineup holes and an aging best player, there will be a reckoning at some point.

Where do the Sox rank amongst teams
Does anyone want to add up our wins versus those of other poor attendance teams? Since...say 2000

AL Central Magic Number Thread
Can't really say the Sox problem is motivation. We're a high SLG team with low OBP. When you sign up for that, you know there will be droughts. We're hitting one at a bad time. It's difficult to face as a fan, but talent trumps motivation concerns in a playoff race. You can't get your neat reasoning for lack of production in a situation like this.

Who is our closer the final 9 games?
save is a made up stat no reason to base decisions off it Sure a closer maybe benefits from knowing their role each time out...but I can no longer defend that thinking when I see lefty hitters just regularly come in and bash in a RHP closer time and time again. or at least hit the ball hard.

Why I am optimistic on September 24
If anyone had asked us a year ago-would we want to be at this point- we'd of course say yes What's happening to us lately is a regression to the mean...earlier in the year it was found money every place we looked. That's easy to forget about now. Most teams have ups and downs. Basically, we just have to get in...and once you're in, the playoffs can sometimes be a chaotic thing that works in your favor. I don't think we're championship-level talent, but some years you don't have to be and still get far.

GT: 9/23: Sox vs. Angels
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:32 PM) Viciedo's been awful for the past two months. This month is his second best OPS month. If your standards for Viciedo are gigantic that's one thing, but as for what he is..presently.. September he has been meeting that need. A slug-first player that basically gives you ONLY that.

GT: 9/23: Sox vs. Angels
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) Just another hitless AB with RISP smile.gif People are focusing on one awful game from Viciedo. The ones that hurt don't mean more than the ones that don't...and he has had a good September for his standards. Fathom if you don't like what Viciedo just did...I don't know what we can say about your General Baseball Knowledge But perhaps your smile is meant to clear you.

Chicago White Sox @ LAAA California Angels playing in Anaheim.
Time to address the Beckham situation in the offseason. The fact we're falling all over ourselves over this month he has just had...is perhaps the most telling thing.
