mariotti did what anyone could do by saying we didnt trade anyone. I think Kenny did the right thing by not trading anyone and having the same group get their act together and start playing. Kenny, i believe, is trying to keep the chemistry and the confidence in everyone

If he can catch up to a ball, its caught. His arm is one of the best in the league, and he has very good reads. he also looks extremely slow when getting to balls in the gap and balls down the line. I think his defensive abilities are above average and he is the only one hitting right now on our team
-
actually having him out could be a blessing. He has been the main hitter in this lineup as of late and him being out could get the other guys to start hitting. Also, keep him healthy so when we play the tigers later in the year, he can pound the spiff out of them
-
Im in and i think our pitchers will hopefully jump on this bandwagon wiht me and starting giving us some quality starts
-
this trade does not scare me at the moment, but come october they are the toughest lineup (scroll up to Sam's post for the lineup) that lineup is guarenteed to score runs in any game
-
thats a good trade for the cubs in getting a decent 2nd baseman. Now the cubs only need help on three new outfielders, starting pitching (about 3-4 new good pitchers), and someone who can close out a game without making it a 15 minute inning.
-
both milwakuee and Texas got what they needed in that trade. Texas has a bunch of good hitters and depth, but they dont have another huge bat to help out texiera, and milwakuee needs depth. i think both those teams will improve off that trade, but why trade for bell. He's old and you have koskie. brewers have no chance this year alos
-
i would take him. Hawkins has great stuff and could be the 6th-7th inning man for Vaz. As long as there are no pressure situations (aka cubs) then he can coast through these guys. The reason that he sucks is he cant handle pressure. KW get him if you can
-
i would not trade Vaz for Lidge. Here are my reasons. 1. Vaz is a solid pitcher through 5 innings, and if he doenst come in the 6th, he's fine 2. Lidge is really screwed up and sucks at pitching this year 3. Starting pitching needs to remain deep in our situation, because if we only have 5 starters, and one goes down, who comes in? 4. Vaz had a great speech on comcast and he sounded pissed that he sucks so far this year. Im expecting a turnaround

olive perez could exel in the San Diego park (SBC i think) because the park is huge. He used to be dominant but i believe he was pissed that his team sucked. I think he will do very well wiht the padres.

i dont know if i would act on this trade immediately. Sure it would help our offense (possibly D too) but it would hurt our pitching too much. Our pitching was amazing last year and we had little to no offense. This year our pitching blows and our Offense is alot better (with thome), but if we trade our only young gun away for another superstar, then we turn into the 2004 team where we have to score 6+ runs to win a game. Andrew jones has not been great this year and i would rather hold on to Bmac and have him for the stretch if someone goes down (we already traded away the rest of our starting AAA pitchers).

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) Ozzie had no choice, the bullpen looked awful today...I really hope that Javy can go out and pick our team up and give us a great start...hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile... bullpen did look awful, but when does our bullpen look good??? Cotts and politte have sucked this year and the new guys are holding us there. Bmac has pitched inconsisent and i feel like their is no experience or motivation to pitch good.

QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 12:48 PM) Javy sounds pissed at himself. He sounds fired up. I think he is still gonna have a big second half. I hope he stops using his curve ball somuch. I liked that he didnt try to blame anyone else. He"s being a man about it and owning up to it. good we need javy to get fired up. BUT WE ALSO NEED OUR OTHER PITCHERS TO GET FIRED UP ALSO mark and freddy have been terrible and garland either throws a shutout or gives up 7 runs and jose is on the downfall Hopefully Javy's comments gets everyone fired up
-
i would love the count to throw a complete game, but it would be more beneficial to see the pen go out there and shut down the royals. we need everyone to gain some confidence. go sox
-
we should stay away from miggy. He has been in steroid talks and i would take bmac over miggy for a couple reasons. 1. Bmac is goign to be a stud in 3 years, miggy might be in jail 2. We dont need a big bat in this lineup, we need someone who can pitch the ball and get people out 3. Our lineup would have too many superstar hitters and would look just like 2004, big names, no pitching
-
keep javy, brad would only be a sub at best (he's not taking pods position and brian is really coming around) Even though everyone thinks javy sucks, i like him and if he could go after hitters more when they have two strikes then that would be the best
-
wildcard is fine for me. We have one of the best setups for the playoffs (assuming we make it playing good ball) and thats fine for me
-
it seems like one of our pitchers struggle, then they all suck. Javy had a poor outing at best and then our relievers went straight into the mentality of poor pitching, and that in turn goes to bobby. Everyone rubs off on everybody else too much

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 12:04 PM) When Javy is actually getting ahead of hitters, he's trying to get them to chase stuff way out of the zone and they're laying off. In other words, he's afraid to throw the ball over the plate right now. He's not going to magically turn into El Duque if he's moved into long relief. B-Mac has been pretty mediocre in long relief this season and there's no reason to believe that he's going to do any better in the rotation. It's also unlikely that he's just going to magically re-adjust to pitching every five days. Will he be a better option than Vazquez? Maybe, maybe not. It might be worth a try IF somebody like Riske could move into the long-relief role. I don't have a problem with sending Vazquez to the 'pen, but he's not going to be good for anything more than mop-up duty right now. i agree, he is like contreas back when we first got him. He's got to go after hitters for three strikes, not for two strikes and then 4 balls or a floater. Coop has got to pick him up and tell him to pitch and not think about how he has lost like the last 6 games he has pitched
-
ozzie is trying to get the boys fired up in the wrong way. He wants the sox to get pissed and play, but he is looking like a too tough drill sergent yelling at his players. we just have to get going
-
good info, but we just arent playing like we mean it
-
our pitching staff needs to get pissed and start throwing the ball, mark adn the rest are pitching like good triple AAA pitchers step it up
-
agreed, and i always noticed the sox hitting closers well we need to get our starting pitching going
