QUOTE(Kogs35 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) from Tim Tucker's column at the AJC: http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/s...5/18sptbiz.html that would make sense Im not a big fan of the Braves, but their broadcasts are pretty good. as in replays and camera shots and such. that BravesXtra thing when they show how many lead off steps a guy on first has and such is pretty neat and Im surprised ESPN or Fox hasnt used that

oh man I totally agree. My roommate is a RedSox fan. There is no reasoning with him. Watching the World Series last year was so horrible

City of New Orleans-Arlo Guthrie . I know its about a train, but its a pretty cool song Harry Connick does a great version of 'Do You Know What It Means To Miss New Orleans' He sang it as a tribute to the city I think it was on Larry King

Man, its so fun watching Johan Santana pitch when he is on...like he was last night I saw in the StarTrib today that Brad Radke is pissed that the Twins didnt get a bat to help out and the offense cant score any runs. I think he states what most fans think.
-
thanks! too bad the offense still sucks 1-0 in the 5th :/ but the highly touted pitcher Liriano is with the club now

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) I think double dips are awesome, especially if the crowd isn't there and you can kind of space yourself out and relax at the park. I totally agree. I went to more baseball games back in the day when the Twins sucked and no one went. But I guess that is for a different thread. haha

My friend and I spent about 13 hours at Metrodome because of a doubleheader. It was 2001. The Twins were playing the A's. It was a scheduled doublerheader (trying to get people excited for baseball they way it meant to be.. or some silly marketing scheme like that) It was cool and not so cool cool- lots of baseball not so cool-it was at crappy metrodome
-
a quick Twins update they scored a run before the 7th inning for the first time in 6 games or something like that. It tiook extra inning to beat the friggin Royals Someone should change this thread to Tribe only. lol

Twins claim Soriano off waivers
Benchwarmerjim replied to Frank the Tank 35's topic in Pale Hose Talk
from the StarTrib -- No deal Jon Daniels, the assistant general manager for the Texas Rangers, on Monday doused the speculation that the Rangers and Twins were working on a deal for slugging Texas second baseman Alfonso Soriano. The speculation began with a weekend report by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the Twins placed a waiver claim on Soriano, mainly to keep him from being dealt to competitors. "There is no trade or pending trade despite reports to the contrary, and we expect him to be here this year and at a minimum, next year," Daniels told MLB.com. "Since we acquired him from the Yankees, there has been endless speculation about where he might be headed. We have been consistent in saying that he is a piece of the puzzle we are putting together." The Rangers had until Monday afternoon to work out a deal with the Twins or revoke waivers and retain his rights. The teams had discussed a deal for Soriano prior to the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline, but the Twins weren't willing to part with top pitching prospects. Any player involved in a trade between now and Aug. 31 must clear waivers first. Most players in the league are passed through waivers in August. Most are claimed. Some, because of large contracts, age or performance, make it through waivers. It would appear to be difficult for the Twins to get quality players through waivers in order to put together a package good enough to land Soriano -- without giving up top prospects. http://www.startribune.com/stories/509/5573691.html -
