  1. I've been down on TA but he's come on very strong this last 35 odd games. Hopefully he can carry this into the offseason and next year.
  2. What a beautiful fundamental play by TA and trusting his arm! Earlier in the year he was rounding that ball off and making silly, careless errors. On that one he got his hat over the ball, squared, and fired. No need to charge those so hard.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 08:23 PM) That's wild. I'm kinda surprised his wRC+ is so high. Elevated because of baserunning then? It's elevated because he has an absurd isoD of .109 (walk rate is 12.8%) and a very good (for a 22 year old 2B) iso of .198. For perspective, Avi has an iso of .171 this year. Kid hits the ball hard and he takes his walks. He's going to be a star. He has already surpassed my expectations for his rookie year. I was hoping he'd hold his own, maybe slash like 250/300/400, and then we'd hope for a league average or better bat next year while playing a solid 2B and finish around 3 WAR. Well, it looks like he might be ready to put up 5 WAR next year. That would be pretty f***ing amazing.
  4. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 09:08 PM) Avi removed from the game for some reason not yet apparent. The Mighty Hanson now batting 5th . One of the major reasons I'm against signing Avi long term is his health. Seems like he's always battling something.
  5. QUOTE (Scoots @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 09:01 PM) It worked! Such a sweet swing by Yoan. I can't wait to see him grow and develop and then just terrorize the league and division in his prime. I'm thinking the Tigers, Twinkies and Royals are really going to get sick of him over the next 3-5 years. Indians might win enough not to let it bother them.
  6. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 09:00 PM) Ha it worked ! Yolmer walk and Moncada HR !!A laser beam shot. Wow.
  7. Sox gonna get no hit tonight or what? Seems like the club is ready for fishing season.
  8. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 12:56 PM) So Melky in his age 32 season hitting .284, 17, 79 and has good advanced stats. Never been one of my favorites until this season when he stayed in the game despite getting hit in the face with a ball. I won't blast him because except for the BA he has Avi-like numbers but in this message board world, Melky is certainly beloved by Sox fans while a younger guy like Davidson who is trying to figure it out is not so loved. Although the poster who started the thread did praise him for his perseverance and putting up some decent numbers in his first season. So I'm assuming we all want Melky back even at 33? Cause that's a guy we like, right? I guess if he were to get too much money he'd be hated on the board and we'd want no part of him, but I'm assuming everybody is thinking 2 years about 5-6 million a year which is OK in Sox fanland. His advanced stats suck. He has -.1 fWAR, mostly because he's one of the worst defensive outfielders in baseball. B-Ref has him at exactly 1 run above replacement, so it's not like fWAR is under-rating him. If you don't like those stats his OBP is a poor .325 (Yolmer can do that) and he has made an absurd 12 errors in the corner OF spot. That is Avi circa 2015 bad.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) Moncada has his average up over .240 and a .769 OPS with a majorly upward trend. Obviously, these are all coming off his recent terror but great to these flashes. He's put up a 1.5 WAR in 43 games. Small sample size, but over 162 games that would be a 5.6 WAR. Lots of reasons to be excited about Yoan. Yessir!
  10. Why are they wasting an AFL spot on Covey again?
  11. missed this thread, merge please.
  12. This just in: Covey still sucks.
  13. Not a very good AB for Moncada here in the 1st inning.
  14. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 17, 2017 -> 12:27 PM) Anderson had his first career four-hit game against the Tigers, going 4-for-5 with three singles, a double and two stolen bases. The White Sox shortstop has been on fire as of late. In September, Anderson is batting .428 with four doubles, two homers and eight RBIs to go along with 13 runs and seven stolen bases. He also has nine multi-hit games in his last 12 outings and extended his hitting streak to eight games. Per CSN quite the remarkable turnaround for TA. Somehow he now sits at .3 fWAR for the season. He has a chance to finish around 1 fWAR and run neutral at SS defense wise. Pretty encouraging, although obviously he can't just crater the first half again next year. But he won't have the new contract pressure and I pray he doesn't have any more deaths in his circle.
  15. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 06:42 PM) There was no doubt Moncada was scoring on that, got to love speed. yea and good baserunning getting to 2nd before that.
  16. QUOTE (Real @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 06:40 PM) 96 rbis for jose, beast great OP on this thread.
  17. Anybody watch Donovan People's Jones today house one from 79 yards? #1 overall WR recruit last cyle, top 10 overall. Anyways, he and Moncada run the same damn way. They glide.
  18. ump misses a perfect strike.
  19. Seems like Moncada gets quite a few hits in the hole to the right side.
  20. This team is too good right now to really tanking anymore. Long term that's good but kiss the 2nd and 3rd pick goodbye. Probably 4th. Great to see Reylo doing well again.
  21. QUOTE (lord chas @ Sep 16, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) I'm already thinking about where the Avi statue should be placed Lol, I'm thinking of where to move Franks so Avi's can be more prominently displayed.
  22. great report. yea according to pitch trax the ump blew several calls.
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 09:46 PM) Best command I've ever seen Fulmer have tonight, hope it continues. there was some wierd juju in the building tonight. Sanchez had his stuff from three years ago and Fulmer looked like a legit backend rotation prospect. Just one night, but pretty unlikely coming in. Sanchez blew by his swinging strike high by 10-12 I believe. He was past his previous high in the 5th inning.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 15, 2017 -> 09:17 PM) I can't believe any team would draft Chris Sale. His delivery was so violent and crazy! chris sale has a smooth, leg powered delivery. It's nothing like fulmer's. People were concerned about the so called "inverted w" elbow action. Obviously I'm not a pitching expert but a poor delivery, in MLB, stands out. Fulmer's stands out.
  25. TA's range on popups is absurd.
