  1. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 08:53 PM) 2 walks now for Moncada. super 2 deadline needs to hurry up. I think it's May 20th this year.
  2. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 08:45 PM) That actually excites me more than him getting a hit (well, minus a homer). I was hoping the sox brass didn't take away what made him so intriguing as a prospect which is his ability to draw walks. hate to keep comparing him to trout but like trout he strikes out a lot but also walks a lot. He's also fast as hell and that will lead to a high BABIP.
  3. Do. Not. Mess. With. Moncada. Jerking him around is the last thing we need.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) People keep making posts like this, as if there is someone who is there who has a future or some skill that isn't playing. It is just complaining to complain. Even as someone who is about as pessimistic as you can get about what we have done to this point, even I can realize that you are pushing a boulder up Mt Everest here. Right.
  5. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 03:05 PM) My question truly is - what is the upside. In literally a perfect scenario, what does Asche produce? .270/.320/.380/.700 with no defensive upside and potentially a liability? What the hell is that? In this day and age that is a cromulent 4th OF and a borderline starter.
  6. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) Asche had a hit yesterday and has hit some balls hard. I am more concerned about May, who looks over matched, clueless, and weak at the plate. Well May looked overmatched in AAA, so not sure what the Sox expected.
  7. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 02:13 PM) Just because he plays 1B doesn't mean he loses the ability to play 3B yea exactly, and if it keeps him healthier, it might help.
  8. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 01:54 PM) I suppose maybe Saladino plays (backup) third/utility infielder when Moncada comes up and maybe Asche goes down then? My plan would be 1) move Jose to DH full time, 2) Frazier to 1B full time, 3) Tyler to 3B full time, 4) Moncada to 2B. That's actually a pretty nice defensive IF.
  9. It's a good question. My only guess is that they want Delmonico getting regular playing time instead of 2-3 times a week in MLB.
  10. QUOTE (Soha @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) Collectively there is more value, sure. Individually, no. I'm sorry, but Quintana isn't going to bring back a Chris Sale type return. And it probably won't even be close. I think some of us will need to grasp that at some point. Teams just don't want to part with superstar potential prospects, except in rare cases like when guys like Chris Sale are made available to trade. That's where you're wrong. Maybe not quite the return, but it will be in the same ballpark. Q is 90% of sale and is signed for another year. Their overall surplus value is similar.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Apr 10, 2017 -> 12:03 PM) I think it pretty obvious that the Sox are going to get a high pick. However, there is much more value in the players that can be acquired for Quintana, Jones, Robertson, Frazier, Melky, Jennings, Gonzalez, Holland, Putnam, someone taking Shields contract, than there is is wanting all those players to contribute to a 60 win team. The players that can be acquired on a whole for the current veterans far outweighs the difference between the 3rd pick and the 7th pick, IMO. We need those aforementioned players to have a good first few months. Frazier pulling his head out of his rear would be a good start. Yea I agree with this, mostly. That said, there is a pretty big difference between say the 2nd pick and the 10th pick.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) Why worry? He has zero value. Remember Adam Dunn? Nobody wanted him, either. Unlike Dunn, Todd is a good defender at a premium position. He has value for that.
  13. I know Todd hit that ball hard but man he's off to a slow start. Worrying for any trade value he has.
  14. You couldn't pay me to wear that s***ty hoodie with that awful logo.
  15. Kittle is talking a mile a minute, holy f***.
  16. Their OF has saved them quite a few runs.
  17. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) Moncada K's; his right handed swing is not my favorite Sox might want to sit him down and suggest just swinging left full time.
  18. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Apr 9, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) Great play by Anderson I love this kid. Defensively he's so much better than I have hoped, even best case.
