06/24 Sox at Pirahnas
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Someone will gamble a million dollars or so on seeing if he can find one more year, SS is that weak of a position. Yea problem is that those 1 year deals are fully guaranteed, as we saw with Tank. I'd sign him for a million then if he sucked ass in spring, cya.

06/24 Sox at Pirahnas
QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 01:42 PM) Eaton is just terrible at running through 1st base. It's not even about being lazy. It bad base running. I'm guessing he's hurt. Pretty much all the knocks on him (not the best clubhouse guy when things aren't going well, oft injured) have proven to be true. Of course, he also was worth 3 bWAR last season, so the positives were true as well. Going to be an interesting 2nd half for him.

Ramirez isn't going to be a big leaguer next year. You'd think he'd realize this is his last contract... If he's that torn up over Minnie's death he needs to take a leave of absence for the good of the team. Get it together buddy.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 24, 2015 -> 12:24 AM) 3 straight games with 10 or more hits. Abreu with 4 to get back to .300. Eaton with 3 . Melky with 2 more. Soto with 2. 6 doubles . Still took 15 hits to get just 6 runs but baby steps in the right direction. The Sox 1st win at MN. this year. Good pitching and defense. Melky/Ramirez threw out a runner at home and Soto caught Buxton stealing. Just start Soto, who knows, maybe he's good enough to earn a starting role for '16. Jettison flowers and bring up Smith. Move Nieto to AAA. Get it done.

THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER
Just the other day I was thinking "you know, Jose isn't that bad, but he's only a really hot couple months from getting back to superstar territory". Let's hope that has started. 15 hits? Color me impressed. Way to improve your trade value, Shark.

Addison Reed/Davidson trade
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 03:06 PM) i hate posts like that because it's not true. The trade sucks because Davidson sucks. At some point the evaluation has to be correct on a player you acquire before you say you'd do that trade 100 of 100 times. They shouldn't have done the trade period. Davidson sucks. I think you are right. I was hearing Wade Davis say as a reliever you let it all loose cause you don't need to save anything. You are in one inning and that's it, maybe 2 on a rare occasion. nobody has a crystal ball the key is to play the odds. The odds on Davidson were better than Reed.

6/22 at Minnesota Twins
QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:48 PM) You gotta believe the Astros are still scratching their heads and wondering how the hell they got shutout by John Danks. how many pitchers are wondering how they shut out the sox? oh, not many.

6/22 at Minnesota Twins
QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:43 PM) Pretty cool how we have a catcher who has been an above average major league hitter each of his last 4 years hitting .333/.486/.648 at AAA and we're not even starting him... at AAA. I understand developing Kevan Smith but they're using a rotating DH just to get at-bats for non-prospect infielders. I'd rather have given Phegly 500 PA than Flowers.

Addison Reed/Davidson trade
Everyone except Kevin Towers saw this one coming a mile away. Reed's fastball had dipped into the 93-94 range in 2013 and with that velocity has was gonna need a good breaking ball -- and he couldn't throw it for a strike 50% of his appearances. BABIP luck (HRs really) let him hold on as long as he did but Hahn did really well to see the writing on the wall and get a good prospect for him. Davidson hasn't panned out but that trade you do 100/100. Reed was a good closer (but hardly elite like some around here wanted to argue) when he was sitting around 95 and could throw his slider for a strike but for whatever reason those two things weren't happening anymore.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
3-2, the most white sox win ever. Just lose the rest of the games and get the #1 overall pick. This team is going no where.

6/19 - White Sox vs Rangers

6/19 - White Sox vs Rangers
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 19, 2015 -> 07:15 PM) We have the talent level of a AA team we may as well run AA quality promotions. the sox' social media presence is pathetic as well. The Bulls do a good job with their stuff, not sure why the Sox are so out of touch.

It's time for a fire sale.
It's almost impossible to get fair value back for superstars like Jose and Sale. Sure, do it if you get 3 MLB ready starters back, but if you don't? Nah.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
Balta really nailed this one. So did 90% of the other posters but Balta's takes were spot on. Maybe KW and Rick should poll Soxtalk on the new manager.

Carroll called up; Noesi DFA'd
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) Exactly. Guys like Noesi, where even some of the talent evaluators here thought was a solid #4 or #5 starter. Some of the same evaluators who like to call the Sox dopes. Noesi was basically waived off of 2 teams. Not many of those guys become really good options in the rotation. And who usually makes the "I can fix him bring him in" suggestion? Cooper. He said he thought he could help Shark as well. What a joke. He's lost his magic.

Carroll called up; Noesi DFA'd
Piddling change that does nothing. Lose another 8 of 10 and maybe we'll see some real changes like finding a taker for LaRoche, (start teaching Avi 1B), DFAing boni (sanchez slides to his role) calling up Micah, moving Danks to the pen and calling up Johnson, etc, etc, etc. God, I'm rooting for the tornado (as Jim at SSS put well) instead of wins, what a s***ty season.

My view on managers in general- RV in particular
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 18, 2015 -> 12:46 AM) We might as well be upset we didn't bring in LaRussa or Leyland. That had about the same probability of happening as Maddon, which was essentially zero....unless JR was willing to break with policy and pay his manager in the top 3-5 in terms of salaries. Come to think of it, this is one area you can say the White Sox have been cheaper, if not cheap, compared to the Bulls especially. Why, I have no idea. Control? Easier to get former players to coach/manage for less money? On the other hand, Don Cooper has one of the highest, if not #1 overall, pitching coach salaries in baseball. Some perceive him to be an in-house "spy" loyal to only JR and the organization, and not to whoever's managing the team. That's not the best structure in the world...a house divided against itself cannot stand. It's not good to have the pitching coach have that much power IMO. One thing about Ozzie, and f*** Ozzie for how he went out, but he sure as hell let everyone know who was in charge. In many ways, he did take a lot of the blame off the players when things were going poorly. Thing was, Ozzie only has that one ace in his pocket when the team is scuffling to play. RV has zero from what I can tell, he doesn't make enough noise in the media to really send a message imo.

Rick Hahn speaks
QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:46 PM) It's time to shake things up NOW Otherwise this season is over.. it already is probably too late. What a joke of an organization that past 3-5 years. It started before ventura got here but the feces is really over flowing now. Hiring Ventura was certainly a symptom of the disease, that's clear in retrospect. Goes deeper than him. I'd like to think KW is the problem, but then again Hahn is his buddy and protege and as long as JR is around... Just a disheartening f***ing situation.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Pirates 7:10 PM CSN+
QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) Who cares? You are no where near ready to win. Best case scenario is that by the time you are good enough, Robby's abilities have diminished. Get rid of anything you can (except Sale because these idiots will completely miss on all players they acquire for him) and start over again. Do you read what you respond to? My first words "I'M ALL FOR TRADING HIM". I'm talking down the inevitable "Hahn sucks because you didn't turn Robertson into Joey Gallo" post.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Pirates 7:10 PM CSN+
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) He's pretty special and if I'm a contender that needs a lockdown guy for the 9th or even the 8th, I trade for Robertson. Get on the phone, Hahn/KW. Go ahead and name the last time a closer was traded for a big haul. I don't think you'll find a good example in the last 15 years.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Pirates 7:10 PM CSN+
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) There's no arguably about it he's no where close. I'm all for trading him, as he's worthless on this s*** team, but he won't get much. He'll get as much as Papelbon probably, which is a B level prospect and maybe another intriguing arm thrown in.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Pirates 7:10 PM CSN+
Remember when the org spun all that "we are loaded with SS/2B prospects" LMAO. hahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahahah. Sanchez has been awful I won't bother defending him but Micah as just as bad, expect in the field. This org can't develop talent for s***. I'm piling on but f*** it, it's time to pile on.

Gamethread: White Sox vs Pirates 7:10 PM CSN+
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 09:28 PM) Trade him. ASAP for a batch of good baseball players/prospects. Hahn/KW can get a good haul for Robertson. He'd be lucky to return a B level prospect. Nobody pays for closers and in this case "paying" would be getting a legit top 10 prospect from another org. Best they could do would be to foment a bidding war and get another A ball arm thrown in or maybe a MLB ready bullpen piece.
