  1. Looks like you can go ahead and put another loss down for the the Twinkies. Down 7 they are down to their final 2 outs with nobody on.
  2. Just let Micah continue to rake at AAA. If they aren't going to DH him (and it seems they have no intents) then just let him continue to get the everyday reps at 2B. It also could be that a few of the guys on the pitching staff have flat out told RV that they'd prefer to not see him out there. Some of the body language from the staff when he would make a mistake was obvious, especially for pros.
  3. What is the demand for KW though? I was pretty surprised Toronto wanted him. Does he have value in like an advisor role? I guess he's the guy that pushed hard for Jose and won a title but he's also the guy that set the Sox back about half a decade by doubling down on aging vets one time too many. Overall KW just seems like a fairly mediocre GM but maybe if you don't give him 100% authority it will let his talent evaluation skills shine.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 02:24 PM) Their other three starters are still hot garbage though, I'd be very happy if Detroit doesn't sell, I'm not worried about them at all and I'd rather they didn't get good young players for Soria/Price/Cespedes. They just indicated they are looking to sell. That team is a tire fire looking at pretty much their worst case scenario. Sanchez has been mediocre; Miggy is injured, Verlander is up and down, the bullpen is a disaster and their two big assets Price and Cespedes are in the final year of their deals and they have zero leverage because it's looking more and more like "they have to" sell. Since their hot start they have basically been the worst team in the AL over the last 3 months.
  5. I've come around to the thinking that Hahn is comfie in Chicago and perhaps isn't quite as ambitious as I thought (looking to get 100% control). We'll see how it plays out. I can see that if things don't go well at this deadline and the rest of the way him possibly resigning with the idea of taking a full GM job somewhere else.
  6. Melky Cabrera now at .1 fWAR! Wow. That is quite the turnaround for the Melk man. He's been a huge part of this run hopefully he keeps it going as he was also a huge part of the s*** start.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) lol If you didn't get Bryant back, which you wouldn't, you'd be walking away from a Sale trade with Schwarber, Russell, and several other guys who aren't just throw-ins. Sale for Russell, Schwarber and Soler I'd think about.
  8. haha, you can only laugh. Trading Sale for a guy with negative trade value and a guy that projects as a 2-3 WAR LF but that perhaps won't ever reach that ceiling. Nice.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jul 29, 2015 -> 01:33 PM) He was very good in half a season last year. His 162-game average WAR in Oakland is 3.1. He is on pace for higher than that this season. For comparison sake, Flowers has a -0.2 WAR this year. Also, Vogt is a lefty. He could be an even more impressive platoon with Soto as Vogt crushes rights to a 148 wRC+ and hitting .292 with 13 HR. Soto against lefties is hitting .323 with a wRC+ of 162. You'd be exploiting both heavy splits in their platoon perfectly. I'd take Vogt in a heartbeat if the cost is say Montas+ filler. As you said he'd be the perfect platoon mate for Soto and from what I saw in the Oakland games this year Vogt is fine behind the plate. He certainly throws better than Flowers. For his career Vogt throws out about a 1/3 of base stealers.
  10. If Castro is available for his contract then yea, make the move and figure it out later but I have to figure the Cubs are holding out for more than just a little salary relief. Castro currently has a lower wRC+ than Carlos Sanchez so it's not the Sox should expect much from him the rest of the year. Maybe they can get his head screwed on straight next year including maybe having Ramirez in a mentor role with Alexei playing 50 or so games at SS and Castro the rest as they figure out a bridge to the Anderson plan. If it's just money and a C level prospect thrown in sure do it the White Sox could use more middle infield depth but Castro has upside, the "talent is there" as SS2k said but for whatever reason it's not coming out on the North Side.
  11. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Beckham with a hard hit rocket to the 2B type of biased from Hawk just now? I have the Boston feed. haha did you just guess that? Yep, he said it was "the 4th hard hit ball for Beckham".
  12. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 05:45 PM) Gordon Edes ‏@GordonEdes 1m1 minute ago Blue Jays are here scouting Jeff Samardzija https://twitter.com/GordonEdes Seems like they are at every Shark start. Hopefully they make Hahn an offer he can't refuse.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) I was thinking that I hadn't seen enough lame gay jokes lately... I was just thinking it had been one post I wrote that you didn't bother to respond to with some pithy little comment. It's annoying and detracts from any real conversation. You're Skip Bayless level trolling me. Seriously, do I need to re-register under a new name so that you don't feel the need to quote and respond with your "I think the opposite" response to literally every single one of my posts that you read? Of all the things written on here you think "butt buddy" is worthy of pointing out? You need to seriously relax on my posts. In fact, I've tried to ignore you so I don't have to deal with it but you can't ignore admins. Go figure. How hard would it have been, if the post really offended you, to PM me and take it down? But that's not your style I guess you'd rather just fling s*** or take things out of context.
  14. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 12:49 PM) He should take some of TFlow's AB's , and probably a few more than he has, but his health is definitely a limiter, and his defense is debatable. He's been very under-utilized as a DH, imo, and they gotta squeeze every run they can out of their lineups. His defense isn't any worse than Flowers'. But Flowers is Cooper's butt boy so he starts 6 times a week despite being a .5 WAR player over the course of his Sox career.
  15. How long until sweet swinging Carlos Sanchez passes Flowers in OPS? I'm guessing by the end of the series.
  16. QUOTE (Mike F. @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 09:59 PM) This has to be one of the biggest game threads in a long time. stir the drink!
  17. what's gotten into this bunch? damn.
  18. time to move sanchez up in the order.
  19. IBB dumb decision there imo.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) Whenever there's ANY pressure or expectation placed on this team and organization, they just crumble. 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012...this year after the All-Star Break, they had a huge opportunity to recapture their fans and re-engage their interest again. Now, they have this game handed to them on a platter and they quickly blow a 4-0 lead. lol
  21. good to see the team back to normal, ffs.
  22. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 06:48 PM) Panda hasn't slimmed down at all. Nope and in spring there was a well passed along story about how he didn't like the GIants asking him to come into camp in better shape and how he was enjoying eating all the food now that he was a Red Sox. never really understood how pro athletes can't slim down. It's your f***ing job and yyou have all the resources. Some guys can carry the weight when they are young but once you hit 30...
  23. QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 06:36 PM) Where's greg to tell us how great Danks is? He now has like 500 innings post injury and he's been about replacement level according to B-Ref and slightly better according to Fangraphs. Some people don't understand sample size and baseball. Greg is one of them. Yes he can throw good games -- but he's a s*** pitcher.
  24. I'm not sure WTF has gotten into this team but I am enjoying it.
