  4. Man when the Griffey game was much better than Hurt's that cut me as a kid. I even was pissed I didn't have a sega and had to go to my buddy's place.
  5. It's like John is on another planet. At this point if you told me he was doing a bit I would just nod.

  7. I've seen celebrity first pitch throwers with more command.
  8. Stone bitching about the weather and having to spend more time doing a job most people would die for. STFU old man.

  10. This is a good one too, patron saint of a local midwest themed bar: https://petoskeysbar.com/seattle-fremont-petoskey-s-about They got his "photos" up all throughout the place.
  11. deloach could have knocked out pedro and saved us all some grief.
  12. This guy has no fucking clue where his pitches are going. He'll fit right in up here.
  13. It's like in the old video games when it would just be "player 99". This guy is as generic as it gets.
  14. By the time I was watching every game I could (thanks C-Span sat) circa 1991, Hawk's homerism was long, long past contrived and his passion for the Sox could be felt through the screen. He was also an expert on how baseball is played at the MLB level, which added a lot of weight to his calls, especially when he was in his prime between 90-2012 or so. JR doesn't know his fanbase, I wouldn't listen to a single thing that out of touch f*** says. Nobody wanted a homer, or very few, what we wanted is someone passionate about the Sox and that was Hawk. John isn't going to last long enough to start any homerism, schtick or otherwise, we can only hope.
  15. My beefs, in no real order: Gives a lot of generic calls. For example he'll do stuff like "2-1 on the batter". Come on John, I know this is TV but just give us the names, your producer can whisper it in your ear. He also repeats phrases, and this is part of the generic feeling, almost like a video game announcer. Every time the last two nights the Cubs scored he used "and the Sox' lead is cut to ____". OK, that's fine, use that once, use it twice, but not every single time the Cubs score. How about you throw in a "And the Cubs score 2 to make it a one run ballgame". Ballwashes the Sox and players. This one doesn't need much explanation we got the Iraqi defense minister in the booth. Constantly is mentioning how it's his "first". All this does is remind us how he's not familiar with the Sox, isn't familiar with the opposition, isn't familiar with being a everyday MLB play by play guy in general. Absolutely never mentions any advanced stats. I appreciated that Jason would sometimes attempt it. All in all it adds up to a guy that is just a constant reminder of how excellence or even competence isn't required to work on the South Side.
  16. That was probably about the same time I said in the game thread that John calmed down a bit and was doing a decent job just calling the game.
  17. Good point. Development: F.
  18. Drafting: C- Development / Coaching: D- International signings: D FA: D Scouting: D Add it all up and you get a failing grade overall and a team ready to set all time loss records.
  19. We're not gonna take it! Narrator: they took it, and then some.
