  1. Thank god that heater was at 96, just got it in on him enough.
  2. I hope you're right. And your 2nd point is spot on and hopefully one the Sox understand for this offseason.
  3. And ichiro could have hit 50 HR a year if he wanted. Don't believe everything you read. Jose has never taken his walks except maybe for a brief period in the first two seasons he was in MLB. He's lost bat speed and now is flying open and pull happy that's not going to help with his outside slider problem it's just made it worse. Has absolutely nothing to do with "protection". If he was seeing so many shitty pitches he should be taking a helluva lot more walks. But he's not. So what does that tell you? That he thinks he's helping the team by grounding into a double play or striking out? No, it tells you fans and perhaps Jose himself are reaching for excuses instead of facing reality and that is that he's a declining slugger that has always had a problem laying off junk outside.
  4. Another genius Manfred move. Deadline looks like it's going to be a complete dud. At least with the old system you'd have a chance of seeing a big move for an overpaid star after the 31st. Hope to be proven wrong.
  5. Probably about as good of defensive OF as we can trot out there so hopefully Lopez benefits.
  6. Swap Moncada and TA and I think that's as good as we could do. Moncada is our best hitter he should either be leadoff or 2nd IMO. Maybe if we get actual good players with high OBP he can slot in 3rd or 4th long term. But right now in this lineup you've got two sub poor OBP guys right in front of Moncada, Abreu and Eloy that stinks.
  7. I think we're of the same mind largely. I wouldn't say there is an "urgency to lose" this season, but there isn't an "urgency to win either".
  8. Yea strong personalities and a weak one in the manager's office. It's regrettable that JR and his team sullied a lot of fans' memories of RV by installing him as the manager when he clearly wasn't up for it.
  9. we've had some real knuckleheads lately. Fucking rageaholics and spazzes and just plain nutty. TCQ, Sale, Eaton and LaRoche.
  10. So for most of us the teams our fathers grew up on. That sort of success breeds new fans and it's long overdue on the South Side.
  11. Some people really cannot wrap their head around tanking. It's the same folks who wonder why Justin Holiday averaged 36 minutes a game for the Bulls before he was traded for a 2nd round pick. It's a feature not a bug. You can all commence your b****ing about "40 man trash" and AJ Reed and Dylan Covey in 2020. Sorry, but that's just the reality of it and that was cemented when Manny and Harper signed elsewhere 8 months ago -- this is a tank year. Losing is part of the plan.
  12. He's lowered his K rate to 18% and is making spectacular play after play while rocking an OPS close to 1100 and has done this for about a month in AAA now. He turns 22 in a few weeks it's too bad he won't be called up this fall. The Sox are going to sell a few spring training tickets next year for folks just wanting to get a glimpse of him before the season.
  13. Let me know the 1st time Stone critiques Ricky's early inning bunts when playing a team liable to score 5 runs before you come to bat again. Stone is a company man bought and paid for. He knows bunting is dumb in that instance but won't say anything. He's part of the problem.
  14. I'm not sure the answer to a pile of nonsense and poorly thought out pseudo-science is "let's meet halfway".
  15. A better way to evaluate relievers in general is probably WPA. A guy coming in with a 4-1 lead in the 9th should be closing that game out with a win 95% or so of the time just based on historical averages. So over the course of a season if a reliever has a negative WPA they probably blew a bunch of games late. Just to piggyback on @Eminor3rd WAR is a CUMULATIVE stat. In this way it is similar to runs scored, runs batted in, stolen bases and so on. It's NOT a rate stat like slash line or wRC+. If a closer is only pitching 70 innings he isn't going to have a chance to accumulate WAR like a SP. That's why some prefer WPA or something like FIP (fielding independent pitching) metrics that attempt to parse out bad luck and bad fielding from a pitcher's ERA.
  16. Judging by what Stroman returned Marco could be had for a B- guy and a C+ type, maybe two of the latter. That would be what, guys like 8-20 in our org that aren't walking wounded at the moment? I think the time is right to strike as it's a total buyer's market. There just aren't enough clubs contending to have a run on SP trades.
  17. I think he has a high upside but he's going on about 4 years now of injury or working through an injury. He feels like a guy that might break out in 2023 or so like Quentin around age 26-28 and then goes back to being injured all the time by the time he's 31. We're at the point where they're going to have to make some decisions on keepers and tossers in the MiLB system. I don't mind trading guys like Micker for proven MLB talents like Diaz. That said, I doubt the Sox give up anybody in their top 20 this deadline for a closer. Even if the back end of that list isn't that exciting it doesn't make much sense to trade for a closer when you really don't even know what your offseason is going to look like.
  18. I'd pass personally. Closer can be filled at any time when the team is actually good. Unless the Mets are infatuated with someone like Micker and are highly motivated I don't see how it makes sense the Mets will want too much.
  19. lol. shine that turd white sox. I'm glad the Sox are paying Rickie to bunt and think about the kids. whatever, enjoy the rest of summer would be my advice. check in on the box scores and futuresox or here if a trade goes down. it's almost CFB season anyways. @Look at Ray Ray Run the album is lit, listened to it a couple times all the way through backpacking this weekend. I like how he took a bunch of different styles for the production and for the most part made it work. There' a couple stinkers but tracks like hot shower, slide around and let's go on the run are new bangers for this summer. Was glad to have them out on the trail.
  20. yea I'm going to do something fun go cease go sox. cya guys on sunday headed out backpacking.
  21. JoSe ABreU is an aLL sTAr hang wiff'em for moncada, damnit.
  22. yea this album is pretty good I'm digging the nicki track and the guy that sounds like a bootleg young thug. the kanye style gospel inspired tracks are bit generic for my taste but solid album. I'm still saying 2018 the earl sweatshirt album is the best I've heard in the last few years.
  23. lol totally. I'm all about the head nodders. wow, there's a house track after it. oh my. yea there's a lot of variety here. https://www.thefader.com/2019/07/26/chance-the-rapper-the-big-day-features-megan-thee-stallion-gucci-mane
  24. I'm a few minutes in and liking the first track as a summer banger but hoping he's got some more different beats coming up on it. Oh god Ben Gibbard is on this 2nd track lol. I think this one might be a bit too sacharine for me. Hopefully he's got some harder hitting stuff on the album.
