well if your aunt was your uncle she'd have balls.

Top 50 overall? A- prospect? At best I think we could get a Rutherford type and a A ball lotto ticket. So something like a B guy and filler.

The Indians crew sucks. They are the cockiest crew I've seen for a team that hasn't won jack shit since Truman was in office.

Puke. There's absolutely nothing in Engel's profile, either scouting or saber that says "rosterable MLB player", that said, it wouldn't surprise me. They fucking love Engel.

The catcher for OSU in the CWS makes Omar look like a HS level player. It's incredible how bad he is at catching for a MLB catcher. It's not even that his frames are bad it's that his SETUP is bad. It's like watching a fat gym newbie trying to balance on the half ball.

Engel's rope is just about out of thread. He should be DFA as soon as Avi and Leury are healthy.
-
Yeah but my points are well reasoned

It's the bad defense on a daily basis that is so frustrating. Until Avi and Castillo get back it's not going to get much better.

It's amazing how many times I have about the same reaction as you in game. Throw STRIKES. That's always been his main bugaboo. No fastball command.

This team gets no respect. No respect at all. Maybe one day Ricky will get off his fat ass and go to bat for his guys. Get thrown out and send a message and tape to the league.

I think this came up at one point with the Robert signing but the fundamentals of when to throw home, what base to cut to, how to defend a bunt -- stuff that most US players learn in American Legion ball, HS and College just isn't taught at the lower levels in Cuba, the Dominican and Venezuela. PR is bit different as they have a more organized coaching infrastructure in place. It's hard to learn that stuff on the fly in MLB. Alexei's brainfarts never bothered me that much. I did however get a lot of joy out of his plays deep in the hole.

arguing from anecdote on a guy long retired isn't helping your cause. If you want the eye test take it from a guy that loved watching him play and saw him every game -- Hawk. Doesn't get much more "old school" than Hawk and he loved watching Ramirez field. As did anybody that wasn't biased by his occasional mental lapses. Ramirez had a fucking gun for an arm and I miss having it at SS. TA is athletic, but he does not have the cannon Ramirez did in his prime.

Wait Frank was on the broadcast?!?????? I thought he did a good job on the Fox crew during the playoffs last year.
-
Never really been a fan of it, I even took DA off. Now we have the "confused" rating anyways, although I'd like to change it to a simple "disagree".

Unfortunately the broadcast teams, radio and TV alike, are goofballs. Some people enjoy corny humor. Others don't. Personally I thought Farmer was fine back in the Rooney days and I thought Stone was fine in the Hawk days: but, you insert a cornball antagonist like Jason or Darrin as the partner and the entire broadcast turns into, as noted, a performance into who can make the zaniest and "punniest" commentary. I can't stand how Jason constantly cannot just describe the action but has to insert some turn of phrase (that sometimes doesn't even make any sense) into his commentary. Partly it's probably because Jason has a really poor understanding of the action in front of him and cannot properly explain what's going on quite often. My beef with Jason is multifold but my biggest complaint is that he's been on the job now for over 200 games and he still cannot 1) read fly balls off the bat, and 2) does not understand many basic rules, like catcher's interference or a dropped third strike with a runner on 1st. If I were Jason I'd be quizzing more seasoned broadcasters on how they read fly balls off the bat, I'm guessing most of them look at the OFs reaction, and also the sound off the bat and then make the call. Jason can make all his corny jokes but at least try and accurately call the game for the viewers. He's at the park, he should have a bird's eye view of everything that's happening and too often he makes a poor read on play or just completely misreads the situation and has to be bailed out by Stone.

Greg can you just put than in your profile instead of copying and pasting the same inane argument about the rebuild in every thread? We get that you think the rebuild is just an excuse to pocket money while selling the fans on a far off El Dorado.

Oh no the towel drill? He's doomed.

Bat call to @ptatc, who can tell you how smart it is to be incredibly cautious coming back from a re-aggregated soft tissue injury mid season. When Avi gets to the big leagues he's gonna subconsciously (and consciously at times) push that hammie a little harder. Avi is a horse man, he runs hard all the time, it's his most redeeming quality as a player imo. But, a lot like Eaton, that's why he's always fucking injured. Some guys just can't go balls to the wall every play and hold up over 162 games. And if Avi re-injures himself any trade considerations are dead in the water. That is not an acceptable outcome for anyone IMO. So in way more words than SS2K said: be patient.

Aaron Judge?

Ha IKR. This just seems a new low, you got guys writing off a 23 kid with positive WAR in under 600 pa and some writing off a 22 year old pitcher in AAA. Come on.
-
I honestly can't believe how many people want to call this trade a bust 18 months in.
-
It's the ability to generate sings and misses and backwards Ks and soft contact. Now, HOW you get those things is above my pay grade. Obviously it helps to have velocity, spin rate and pinpoint command. I'd say a necessary (but not sufficient) component of that is having at least two pitches you can throw for a strike in any count. Like when Nate Jones comes out and throws 10 straight fastballs it doesn't matter if it's 96-97 because timing wise, he has no threat of an offspeed pitch.

This board is reminding me of Bleed Cubbie Blue and NSBB.com during their rebuild. I guess that's a good sign.
-
Just looking at his stats and age ( turns 23 in three weeks) he should be in high A soon.
-
lol, fire him right now.
