  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 03:42 PM) I wonder if he could have gotten it together if he back hadn't given out on him. I dunno. I think he was healthy last year and the bat wasn't there. Who knows though.
  2. Shame he couldn't get things together. Really put on a show when I saw him in the minors.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 23, 2013 -> 10:27 AM) More on the Balfour physical situation. http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/baltimo...is-davis-122213 How on Earth did they write that article without referencing Albert Belle?
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 07:58 PM) Seattle beat Carolina so that's your tiebreaker. Ah, didn't see that game.
  5. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 07:54 PM) The Bears could win the NFC N tonight. And uhhh, I don't know if anyone's noticed but the Cardinals have an outside shot at the playoffs. What's the tiebreaker between Seattle and Carolina look like for the #1 seed? Carolina is 4-1 in the division, Seattle 3-2, I think that's the first tiebreaker if Seattle lost and Carolina won next week (they'd be tied in conference at that point).
  6. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) Gillaspie could be pretty solid in that ballpark and decent replacement for A-Rod's inevitable suspension There's a good chance Gillaspie will be released by the end of Spring Training, IMO, with how this team has set its roster. He might have a tiny bit of trade value but very little. He's not going to be the key piece in getting back anyone the Yankees actually value.
  7. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 05:20 PM) Defensively biased team with no prayer of stopping Marshall/Jeffrey with an inconsistent offense that often beats itself? They're a dream matchup for the Bears. Carolina has a running game.
  8. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 05:05 PM) They're good at blowing out the bad teams like the Bucs twice, the Giants, the Vikings and the Falcons. Carolina is average 13.8 points per game against teams with a winning record. I wonder far they can go winning games by scoring 17 or less points, especially if Steve Smith is out for any length of time. Would you want to go to Carolina and face them? That's the thing...they're set up for the #2 seed and a first round bye if they win next week.
  9. QUOTE (zenryan @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 04:27 PM) Impressive s***ting of the bed by the Dolphins today. I always root for the Dolphins but Tannehill isnt the answer if youre trying to build a Super Bowl caliber team. He's a good QB on his very best day and an above average at best every other day. He may catch lightning in a bottle one season and make a run if he's got a real good team around him but he has the look of a 6-9 win a season caliber QB. Even though teams play guys a ton as rookies these days...I think you're making a mistake if you project a guy to be "not the answer" when he's only a 2nd year player.
  10. QUOTE (Baron @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) Sure and then flip him mid season Wasn't he about to get a 3 year deal? Even if he has to take slightly less money, a multi-year deal makes that awfully tough.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) With the new CBA, there is something to be said for a slight overdraft which gives you saves you draft cap room. I don't know if you think about such things with the 3rd pick.
  12. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 03:47 AM) Why not? Japanese folks love baseball as much as we do and he is almost definitely going to make more money for this season. The "Why not" is that I think he'd still be a quality MLB contributor if he could stay healthy and I don't think he can stay healthy. I don't think going to Japan will somehow keep him healthy.
  13. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 03:28 AM) That Bashir thing wouldve been better if he didn't go through the whole "time to start feeling guilty again, whitey! Don't forget to pay your taxes" and just said someone should s*** in Palin's mouth. Because someone should s*** in Sarah Palin's mouth, and that is a fantastic idea. You just made me feel bad for Sarah Palin.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 22, 2013 -> 12:14 AM) I was in that group. I hadn't been that pissed at a Sox move since they let Robin Ventura leave for the Mets. I vaguely remember kind of understanding that deal but really thinking I'd miss Brandon. Loved his skill set but was giving Kenny some leeway on getting 2 pitchers back. I still think the Hudson deal was the single dumbest deal Kenny made, including that whole "Trading for the wrong person" deal.
  15. If he can't pass a physical with other teams why would we think he could with us?

    Alright begin

Vestigial tail removal is his real talent.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) Remember, I'm old and slow. Still, not bad.
  18. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) The general assumption is that they'll use the MLE on him. Most people have seemingly suggested that wouldn't be enough to buy out his current deal, am I wrong on that?
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 08:21 PM) How is that hindsight? I hated the deal when it happened and Edwin was extremely mediocre through out his career when we got him. He was just as much of a wild card as Hudson with out the remaining years and once again we gave up an extra good arm. Not to mention taking on $13 million in salary obligations while giving up those 2 kids.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 06:11 PM) Or James Jones, which I'm pretty sure is a real name (UGA, I think). So was James Johnson.
