Top 10 Prospect list
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:24 PM) More likely trying to pave the way for a Ramirez trade. Because listing him highly devalues Alexei since it convinces everyone that the Sox must move Alexei to bring in their hot young prospect. Ergo, the Sox are trying to destroy Alexei's trade value, to make sure that they get a bad deal for him. KW is on the Ozzie Guillen path of wanting to be fired, and he's going to make that happen.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:19 PM) How exactly would that work? Is the person in question going to be dumb enough to come to court and risk arrest? Is he going to be able to find an attorney willing to represent him? Is he going to be given a public defender? Not to mention the fact that 99.9% of the "evidence" establishing his treasonous acts would be considered state secrets of national security and probably protected from being released in court. That's exactly the point...if the Executive branch is right and the person has sworn loyalty to a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of the United States....I seriously doubt that he's actually going to show up to challenge his loss of citizenship. The only case in which this step would be reasonably taken is if the Executive branch oversteps the goal of the law and tries to strip someone of citizenship for unjust reasons. It doesn't need to ever be used, but the path for how to do it legally needs to be codified. That's all.

Omar Vizquel not happy....
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 11:51 AM) the point of a sub isn't to hit better than the starter. It is to rest the starter and optimize their numbers. It is also to have a guy ready if you need someone else to play. Which starter did not get enough rest?

White Sox Manager Search Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:01 PM) A utility job isn't in his future here for sure. With Escobar and now this Martinez kid around, they have that covered on the cheap. Problem is...it seems like he thinks he's a starter.

Top 10 Prospect list

Financial News
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:02 PM) The big arrest came as a large group was crossing the Brooklyn Bridge. Protesters claimed that they were led into the traffic lanes by the police and then arrested. http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/blog/2011/...s?newsfeed=true I got the same impression. Maybe I'm wrong and they were just monitoring twitter feeds where somenoe else had planned to move the thing to the Bridge, but everything I've seen suggests that it turned from a march into a move onto the Bridge when the police directed them onto the Bridge. And that that same day was the first day the police had brought in the buses to be able to move people out...not that they were planning for a contingency, but that they were instead planning on how to end this protest. I mean, I certainly wasn't there and you're right that i can't prove anything, but "Police bring in buses", "Police reportedly direct march into place where marchers can be arrested", "Police arrest 700" seems like a pretty convenient set of steps.

Unemployed Need Not Apply
QUOTE (mr_genius @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) Well, I don't necessarily see that, I see more clients wanting a blend of offshore on shore (clients that only wanted onshore before). They want at least 50% of the work done very very cheap. They also want a lot more types of work done offshore, not just QA or programming. Also, I can get L1 visa holders for 7k a year AND have them work in the US. You can't beat that price. It will take decades to close income gaps with China and India. Having the Chinese currency able to correct would at least put a dent in this issue.

White Sox Manager Search Thread
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 10:08 AM) I doubt its Fisk. From what is reported and from what I heard, the sox want want a manager who is also fluent in speaking Spanish to help communicate with the latin players. Martinez, LaRussa, Alomar and Pena are all fluent in Spanish. With the Cubans on the roster, this isn't the worst idea I've ever heard.

Different subject...my only real comment on this is that although the Senate would clearly be correct in calling China a currency manipulator...i'm somewhat impressed to see this bill getting to this point. The House has previously passed something similar...there's an outside chance this could actually get to the President's desk in the middle of an election season.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 09:53 AM) People are taking this Martz thing WAY too far. It's pretty simple really. When the Bears can run the ball effectively, they run the ball. When the Bears aren't down in the game, they run the ball. You're not climbing out of a hole by running the ball for a yard here or a yard there. Against NO and GB the running game wasn't getting ANYTHING and they were forced into lots of passing. Forte had 10 carries for 49 yards against NOLA, 4.9 YPC. Yeah, a chunk of those came on 1 big breakaway...but big breakaways count when they happen too! I'll grant you that the O-line did him no favors against GB...but there's a reason why you don't run directly at BJ Raji. That's a classic "Mix it up" point...even with a broken line, send extra help to try to move him, or just try to hold him in his spot and run away from him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 09:38 AM) Its not big by any stretch of the imagination. Though I did get a laugh at the kids going to a 30k a year university chanting about "we don't have to live this way". And thankfully, the government is as lenient with student loan defaults as they are with credit default swap contracts which default. Therefore, this criticism is entirely valid.

Apps I'd like to see
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 07:20 AM) Find Craft Beer is a pretty good app. It doesn't give prices, but it'll find places (bars, restaurants, breweries, stores) that sell craft beer close to you. It gets all its information from users, so it's decent in that respect. I will be testing this app next week.

Omar Vizquel not happy....
Let's ask this another way. Anyone here want to step up and say that Omar earned more playing time than he got? Maybe...maybe, you can tell me that giving Beckham a week or two off would have helped him. Morel was basically hitting exactly where Vizquel would have been hitting most of the year...except we saw the benefits of playing him more in September. Maybe Alexei needed a little more rest somewhere, but Omar definitely shouldn't have been playing in front of Alexei. Unless you're telling me that Beckham could have benefited from a week or two off...where did Vizquel deserve more playing time @?

The Democrat Thread
Bloomberg has a piece alleging that top Republican contributors Koch industries have used subsidiaries and such to sell equipment to Iran, circumventing U.S. sanctions against that country. They also throw in descriptions of bribes for good measure.

Omar Vizquel not happy....
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 09:13 AM) He is also a guy who showed last year that he plays way better with consistent playing time instead of once every couple of weeks. Go back and compare his numbers last year to early when he wasn't playing much, and then later when he got to be a regular again. I don't blame him for being upset, he has shown us what kind of playing time he needs to be a better player, and Ozzie didn't give it to him. I don't think his numbers show that. It shows him hitting really well in June/July. Here's games started vs. OPS. He got the largest amount of playing time down the stretch last year, at which point his numbers tailed off a lot. 6 .367 6 .667 19 .726 15 .801 23 .678 20 .604 Omar Vizquel is not going to go in as anyone's everyday starter any more. If he needs to play 20 games a month to find a groove, then he may as well retire.
