  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:21 AM) Game 3 felt like a blowout. That series sucked. The Heat decided to play their best ball of the year as LeBron went apes*** in those 4th quarters... that's something that's not likely to happen again. Also, Rose did nothing short of choke down the stretch in those games, which I don't expect to see happen very often moving forward. Ugh, I'm still having nightmares of those isolation plays with Rose on LeBron. I don't know why Lebron going ape**** is unlikely to happen again. Rose choking like that is hopefully unlikely, but hell, those weren't even great quarters for Lebron, they were good ones but he has better.
  2. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) Who the f*** is running the show?!? Ozzie Guillen.
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) Yeah, I mean, obviously JR Smith would be an upgrade as well, I just wanted to aim a little higher. We're so far away from having any idea what the Bulls can/will do, it's depressing. Almost any "Aim higher" candidate has to come from the trade market, and that's even more up in the air than FA. At least in FA we know which guys are available, even if we don't know how much we have to spend on them. The trade market is entirely up in the air; guys' availability won't be known until we have CBA rules, so we're just guessing on guys like Ellis or Gordon.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:06 AM) It is the difference between paying him now and paying him over the course of a season. For Adam Dunn I'd agree that's a problem. For Juan Pierre, if the Sox are that close to missing payroll that they're willing to put a worse team on the field...then like I just said, we're McCourting it come August.
  5. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 10:03 AM) I think his point was that if the Sox had more money from attendance, they would be more willing to take the hit of cutting Pierre and having to buy him out. Again, that makes no sense since the contract is guaranteed. If the Sox have 15 people through the gate the rest of the year, they still owe Juan Pierre another $3 million+ (with some from the Dodgers now up in the air added on). The only thing that changes if you cut Juan Pierre is that you might have to pay some portion of it 2 months earlier, and if the Sox are that stressed for $2 million, then they're going to be doing what the McCourts just did in about 8 weeks.
  6. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) That's 19 more places than in the entire middle east. What is this even supposed to mean? It's not a bad thing that 60% of the U.S. allows legalized discrimination against Homosexuals because 100% of other groups of countries do?
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) It could just as easily be spun around the other way... Maybe if people were showing up, they could buy out Pierre. That'd make no sense though...whether 3,000 people show up or 30,000 people show up, they're paying Pierre the same amount. The finance change right now by cutting Pierre and calling up Viciedo is what, $250k?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:43 AM) The reviews aren't as bad as the previous one. Really, that's not saying much at all.
  9. D2 is hitting .272, but with 27 strikeouts in 81 at bats in June. .717 OPS. The May hot streak has clearly evaporated.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) #baltad #hilarious I like it. Michael Bay's crew are nothing short of inspirational. But, seriously, wtf, just drop the side and have your multi-million dollar blockbuster release with such a strange name? Transformers: Permanently Shadowed Craters. I'm calling it that from now on.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:27 AM) But how much is it costing them in gate revenues and season tickets sold for next year if this team doesn't finish 1st? That's the thing that teams never seem to think about. A few years ago the Brewers did the same trick with a kid named Ryan Braun, held him out through the Super 2 deadline, first game was on May 25. Kid comes up and puts up an OPS over 1.000. The Brewers lost the NL Central that year by 2 games. Now of course, you can add all the caveats you want and there's no guarantee you'd have won 3 more games if you had Braun for another 7 weeks...but that's a very close run thing to buy yourself another year before FA.
  12. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature/ultimatehomerunderby Vote for Frank!! But I really think the Mick would win an ultimate home run derby. But man that is real hard to pick. Frank never really put on a BP show like the steroid guys did though.
  13. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) What's ironic I find is there's the entire thread about "return on investment" in terms of Pierre. Dayan doesn't make chicken feed.... Good lord this is maddening!!!!! Keeping Viciedo in the minors longer is likely to save the Sox money in arbitration though.
  14. I didn't realize he was in the league.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:10 AM) So i find it funny that it is now "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", which makes no sense whatsoever. Obviously Pink Floyd sued them. Technically, Dark Side of the Moon doesn't fit with astronomical sense either, because aside from a few permanently-shadowed craters near the poles, the full moon gets illuminated by the sun once a month as well.
  16. QUOTE (Tex @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:48 PM) I believe in second chances. The guy clearly made a mistake, was reprimanded, and will probably never make the same mistake again. Q: Do you honestly think there's zero chance that he's decided that the Homosexual Agenda is now out to get him? He won't do that in this job again because he doesn't want to lose it, but there's other plausible outcomes too.
  17. Can't I just have the Klingons do it?
  18. Zero tear ducts on this Klingon.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:29 PM) Actually, dude who likes to quote and bold things, my point was that JR Smith is incredibly ineffective at putting the ball in the hoop. As nowhere near the focal point of an offense... ever... JR Smith has taken about as many shots as points scored over his career. Scoring 12 points on 10 shots isn't some sort of amazing lights out shooter just creating like Magic Johnson, that's just an inefficient ball player doing what I said he does, inefficiently chucking. Is he an upgrade from what the Bulls had in 10/11? Absolutely. Balta would be an upgrade. However, is JR Smith where the Bulls should aim if they want to win a championship? No way. Thank you for the attempted compliment. But no....no....
  20. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) You deleted the YouTube clip???? Why?? That video is hilarious and has been on soxtalk before. What is happening here??? What youtube clip? I was referring to the personal attacks part.

  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 10:12 PM) yup. waived before he played 1 minute Under the Skiles regime
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) Derrick Rose does a f***load more than JR Smith. You bringing this up is just baiting and silly. Derrick Rose carried the team on his back like that injured guy (EDIT: Greg Jennings) from Madden that made for a funny YouTube clip. JR Smith was at best his team's 3rd, but more likely 4th option. You are silly. Go stare at you KEVIN. LOVE. wall poster a bit more and dial me up when you have anything resembling a legitimate point. Steve, this was entirely unnecessary.
  25. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) http://old.news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110628/ap...mann_fact_check Nice. Now where was this "FACT CHECK" in big, bold headlines for Barack Obama? Oh, I forgot. Everything the man says is golden s***. Really? Googling the phrase "Obama politifact fact check" is beyond your capabilities?
