MLB's Financial Problems
QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 01:12 PM) Looks like the Dodgers are on the verge of not meeting payroll. If this happens, MLB has the option to take the club from McCourt. I have no doubt that McCourt will lawyer up if MLB tries to do this. I think McCourt has plenty of lawyers already. Most of them paid for on loans taken out with the Dodgers as collateral.

Financial News
QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 11:00 AM) Not really. 3q 2011, 4q 2011, is all anyone is going to care about before the "extra" stimulus (read: the bs that got set aside for 2012) kicks in. This will bump up things just enough to make it look like what he's doing is working, and coast him in. Of course, this is all predicated on the GOP continuing to be, well, the GOP. Extra 2012 stimulus? From what bill?

6/25 Games
QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) Don't think he'd start for a good team. Offensive game is respectable in AAA, but not sure it would translate to MLB. More likely a speedy slappy 4th outfielder type. But I think he could stick on a major league roster somewhere if he stays healthy. The Marlins always liked him and had him penciled in as a starter a few years ago, but he could never stay healthy.

Sox Draft OF Keenyn Walker with #47
QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 09:51 AM) I'm surprised Walker has not signed already as I would have thought the scouting staff would have known what the asking price is and what they were getting into with negotiations. With that, in case it happens, do teams get draft picks the following year as compensation if supplemental picks do not sign? Knowing the asking price isn't always the deal. Sometimes guys genuinely want to take a bit of time off, especially right out of college after a full college season. Sometimes guys' agents want to take time to press the team just a little more.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) So this has always been KW's decision if Guillen is to be believed. Just like it was last year when KW called Viciedo up and Ozzie stuck him on the bench.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 11:13 AM) Morel, you can take that 3-4 straight to the bench!!! And Lilli, you motherf***er, you can take your only run and game-saving catch there, too!!!!! It's the only way they'll learn.

Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 12:27 PM) I am pretty sure in situations such as this, the guy who pitched 2 days(3 days in the Sox 6 man rotation) prior is the first one out, because it is supposed to be their scheduled throwing day. That is why Humber was warming up the day before when the bullpen ran out of arms, and why peavy came out yesterday Doesn't work for Humber though, he last pitched last Sunday, so Friday night he was on 4 days rest (aka...normal rest).

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:46 PM) If Pierre was designated for assignment, isn't there the possibility that he would still play Lillibridge instead? Or with the Viciedo recall...Ozzie has acknowledged he has to play everyday, so there's no other option, right? Ozzie can be stubborn sometimes, but I don't think even he is that stubborn, especially with Lilly failing to execute in big situations the last two games. Granted, we won the 2nd game, but you never know with Santos these days, a 4 or 5 run lead simply feels a lot more secure than just 3. Then again, if it's not a save situation (say, 4-0), you worry about Crain or Thornton, too. Especially Matt after Friday night's game. Hopefully he'll bounce back. Ozzie playing Lillibridge more is not a bad thing.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:46 PM) a sexy shipps haircut = $20 my wifes cat gets a haircut = $85 How does this make sense? I was telling my wife we can take the cat to my barber and tell em give the cat what I get. I cut my hair today after waxing the car. Cost was 0.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:25 PM) I really think it's to the point where KW and Co. need to buck up and pull the rug out from Ozzie by just DFAing someone. Eat the money. Force Ozzie into playing the TANK as a starter. Konerko it is. Dfa him tomorrow

2011 AL Central Catch-All Thread
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:29 PM) It's the smoothest 97 I've ever seen. Seems effortless. And he's averaging 15 pitches an inning so it's not like he isn't throwing strikes, but I think they're going to have to bring it down a bit. 115 pitch avg. per game for a whole season seems high by today's standards. There's nothing a priori wrong with that pitch count. People have sustained it for decades before.

Danks pulled in 2nd inning
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 08:44 PM) Harrell it is, then. He doesn't need to stay down for 10 days since someone is going to the dl right?

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Were't the fans cheering and standing up for Dunn in his last at-bat when he walked? Was that derisive cheering of the "Bronx cheer" variety or was there the sense that booing the guy mercilessly might not be helping...so they might as well try cheering? Great effort by both Bruney and Peavy. Castro came through huge (perfect approach against a guy throwing 99-101), and Sergio looked like his "good" self again. He's 15/17 in save opportunities now, I think. Lillibridge has had his struggles these last two games with the bases loaded. Absolutely have to make contact SOMEHOW on those squeeze attempts, even on sliders down and away. Beckham, still trying to figure things out. At least Rios looks better. I think it's gotten beyond angry determined boos for dunn and moved on to most people almost begging him to succeed.

PED accusations
QUOTE (since56 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 08:29 PM) How come Ivan Roridguez gets a pass when it comes to peds? I have heard Hawk rave about him and today the FOX announcers assured us he was a first ballot HOFer. He and A-rod are both admitted users. Let Mcguire and and Bonds in or keep these guys out.Take a fricking stand one way or the other. No selective favorite sons! When did he admit?

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:04 PM) *sigh* Is getting a title in AAA more important to this organization? Even when we win our offense looks terrible. I can't recall a more blatantly obvious opportunity to bring up a guy from the minors. Um, Beckham in June 2009!

Jake Peavy willing to go to the bullpen
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) You beat me to the post. I wonder what this does to the rotation for a bit unless we have an off day soon and it gets back into the 5 person rotation I think we have an offday Monday but well still give Jake full rest after today
