  1. They dropped off immediately right after the ban but recovered towards the end of last year and aren’t anomalously low in his previous starts this year. His velocity is down by 1.2 mph coming into today.
  2. Former white Sox 3rd round pick Alex Call just made his big league debut
  3. They have space to bring Abreu back especially since they will push their salary limits for him, you know that. They won’t have space to make themselves better using FA though. That’s “say goodbye to Colson” territory.
  4. On the subject of yesterday, Lynn now has an ERA of 6.97.
  5. They will still have $15 million under the tax give or take even if they bring Abreu back. Sell the guys you can sell to make yourself better, fill a couple holes for next year in the process, change the entire coaching staff, and give it your best shot.
  6. Giolito gave up 5 over 6 innings in his last start. Lynn gave up 5 over 5 in his previous start.
  7. I mean the right answer is to just run it back out there next year and then worry about a payroll cut after ‘23 when contracts end.
  8. Had he resigned in ‘20, he probably would have! Already in fact!
  9. His velocity is down but a ton of that ERA is due to Tony thinking he can throw 115 pitches in every start off knee surgery. That said, I would be fascinated to hear people tell me how he has a ton of trade value with an ERA of 7.
  10. At least have the guy ready to start the inning so that you don’t bury your starter.
  11. Fine, you got your starter to give you 96 pitches but he’s in serious trouble now don’t let this game get away.
  12. I also don’t think Foster was up until the guys were on.
  13. That was also on pitch 100, So after the first 2 reached he probably would have to throw 115 pitches to get through the 5th.
  14. Bob specifically blamed it on a lack of player leadership. Who would come up with that concept?
  15. Cleveland still has what a dozen more games against the White Sox? They only finish with 78 if the white Sox can beat them.
  16. I will lay you very high odds that the leaks of “the White Sox might hire LaRussa, the White Sox are hiring LaRussa, and DUI isn’t important for a great man like LaRussa” came from someone whose name rhymes with Rerry Jeinsdorf. I don’t know about this one as that same path makes sense but believing this wouldn’t hit TLR more than anyone else requires an impressive level of foolishness.
  17. The white Sox have been playing quite well on the road but equally poor against the AL Central. I do not know which of these trends wins out. I do expect that over an 8 game high pressure stretch at least one of these threads will blow up because the manager gives a game away, and I’ll bet there’s a 9th or extra inning win somewhere in here.
  18. I don’t think I follow a motive on that, but what player on this roster has Bob Nightengale as a guy they regularly talk to? It’s hard to figure both a connection and motive for any of the suspects in this case - the top guys who would leak to Nightengale are Jerry and TLR, and this would require an impressive degree of idiocy for them.
  19. And it isn’t the usual front office leak path- it’s someone “old school” who knows Bob rather than all the guys who do modern transactions and reports. Stone does fit that.
  20. Stone being a source for this is a way for it to get to Nightengale that I hadn’t previously considered.
  21. Haven’t you heard? It’s a lack of player leadership that is the problem. The only solution is to get rid of guys who aren’t buying into Tony’s system and find more guys who are.
