  1. No wonder Chairman Steele was helping him raise book sales.
  2. The guy in the Cantor case appears to have admitted making some 2000 of those threatening type videos, including some aimed at the President(s). Guess one good thing about passing the ACA is that it has made the FBI a bit more diligent.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 02:39 PM) They'd rather just blame the media. Works for everyone else.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 02:06 PM) Balta playing role reversal and ignoring someone in the thread. Ah, you win. Missed the fact that the page had flipped while I was @ the gym.
  5. One of these expenses stands out.
  6. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 10:37 AM) He's got a player option. He's said once or twice he's thinking of not opting out, but I think he'll almost certainly wind up doing so, in order to get a contract locked in before the new CBA hits or there's a lockout.
  7. I have 232 Friends total on Facebook. That's less than 1 per day of the year, on average. Somehow, I have 5 different people on there with today as their birthday. Kap, what's the deal? You all trying to avoid being born on Easter or something? (Does a quick check)...hmmm, 9 months before this date is approximately the 4th of July weekend.
  8. Santonio Holmes possibly in trouble for a bar fight with a woman, involving her getting her face slashed.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) Oh I see. I agree, if he wants to be the man somewhere, he probably would be in a situation similar to what he has now. If he wants to join the Bulls, it would immediately improve his current situation(IMO) Exactly. I can't think of a single situation in the NBA in the past 20 years where there's been one guy who has carried a team to a title on his own without another legit star next to him. Jordan had Pippen. Shaq and Kobe. Kobe and Gasol. Duncan and all the other guys he's had. Wade and Shaq. The 5 pistons. The 3 Celtics. The "I need to be the man" concept is a guaranteed loser. If he wants that, then I'd almost rather not have him, because that's moronic.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 09:38 AM) If the bulls were able to add Bosh I think they would be much better than just fighting for the 8th spot every year. Im not saying tops in the east, but i think they would be much more competitive Not what we were saying. SF1 suggested that Bosh would want to go somewhere that he would be "The man", the #1 option. I responded by noting...if he's the #1 option, the best that team is going to do is compete for the bottom of the playoff hunt every year.
  11. Here's the box score from the Sox's last preseason stop last year.
  12. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 08:49 AM) Does anyone remember if the last games of the spring played in MLB parks are usually played by starters? I'm really wanting to take the kids to Turner Field next weekend but don't want to pay ML prices for ml baseball. The starters usually play some, but the end of the game will be the scrubbiest scrubs who ever scrubbed. Especially in the last game. Especially the pitchers. Usually the rule of thumb is you go full out in your 2nd to last start before the season, then you back off to 75-80 pitches in your last preparatory outing.
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) I'm not wholly buying that argument yet. Bosh made it clear he want's to be "the man." Now whatever that means to him is irrelevant, because Miami or Chicago, he won't be "the man" but he'd be more prominent in Chicago, no doubt. Does it matter if you're "The man" on a team that is fighting for the 8th spot every year?
  14. (Arranges to have the government seize Kap's Birthday)
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 29, 2010 -> 03:12 AM) Actually I am counting on those two as sure things. Isn't it safe to say if those two are not excellent this season, we're f***ed? We could recover from either of those things going wrong...but it would either take everything else going right or it would take a solid trade for a middle of the order hitter.
  16. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Did the world just stop spinning for a minute? Remember how the earthquake in Chile was large enough to change the moment of inertia of the earth and thus produce a slight shift in its rotation? Congrats shipps.
  17. Gardenhire plans to try the infamous "Closer by committee" to start the year. Predicted headline in 2011: "After closer-by-committee proved wildly successful in Minnesota, 3 other AL teams are adopting it this year..."
  18. QUOTE (Ranger @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 09:35 PM) You're sure about that, are you? So, you're saying that if Quentin is hitting close to .300, is getting on base, and has 6 or 7 HRs in April, Ozzie would still bat Kotsay third in your scenario? I really hope you know better than that. Then this should never have come up in the first place.
  19. Rangers announcers pointed it out and they're right. The Rangers won 5-0, and the reason they won 5-0 is that they did everything right on defense and the Sox didn't. The Split Squad didn't help with putting in some easy outs there either, but the difference on defense. Sigh.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) True story. And senators that play political games with confirmation should be punched in the face 8 times for every one nominee. Senators are going to play political games no matter what. If they've got power over something they don't care about, they're going to leverage that power to try to influence something they do care about. That's what's going to happen in any system of direct elections.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 06:30 PM) Quentin hit twice today.... 50/50.
  22. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 28, 2010 -> 06:29 PM) This is something that can be easily tuned out and isn't worth talking about. The real answer to this whole issue is that there's no reason why there should be so many people deep within executive committees and departments who need Senate Approval. Cabinet secretaries, sure. People 3 levels underneath the undersecretary of the Treasury, um, no. Hell, that was even one of the recommendations of the 9/11 commission report that Congress ignored.
