What kind of meteorite?
-
I mean, I'd actually be ok with that this year, if Rodon knows it is coming and has sufficient time to warm up. If they get like 2 innings with him total in the ALDS, you might as well save it until you've got the heart of the Astros order or a game on the line.
-
I'm still in "i have no idea what things will look like until there's a CBA" mode. The White Sox do have an owner with a history of signing a big contract out of spite towards the other owners.
-
You know, the easiest way for him to not be able to make this thread would be for the White Sox to stop losing series.
-
Don't discount how important the catchers are for these wild pitches. They are fundamentally changing how he throws as he has no confidence a back-breaking curve will be caught.
-
Remember that stretch right after the AS Break when suddenly they had a power surge? In 18 games in September, the White Sox have 13 home runs. That's good for 28th in baseball. Torotno has 44 over the same month. But we can take some pride in the fact that one of the 2 teams worse is the Padres.
-
This team is not a sub .500 team with another manager, not if they're remotely competent. For every game they won with something remarkable, they gave away at least 1, sometimes 2 games with something baffling out of the dugout. It's been one of the hallmarks of this season.

I don't know, the first half it seemed like even when there was an injury, the person they had to step in wouldn't be great, but they would have the same fire to win the game that everyone else had. Once TLR shifted into "get everyone healthy" mode in July, it feels like everyone took their foot off the gas, even when people came back from the IL.
-
They'll change some of the staff beneath him unless TLR does that.

But with Kimbrel, confidence does matter. We've seen this - my biggest one was a week ago, one of those games that must have been Boston I think? Maybe after the Robert misplay, but I could be remembering the wrong game? The important thing was the runner started on second, and Kimbrel wild pitched the runner to 3rd on the breaking ball that the catcher couldn't stop. The next batter, he got ahead of him, and even the TV booth pointed this out - the right pitch was to bury a breaking ball in the dirt for a strikeout, but he had no confidence in the catcher being able to stop the pitch, so he threw a high fastball that was hit in the air for a sacrifice fly and a blown save. If he doesn't believe in what he's doing on the mound, he doesn't win the matchup - and he doesn't believe in what he's doing out there right now. Maybe if he had more confidence, that knuckle curve ball last night is on the ground, rather than hanging near the batters knees.

We need just over 6 weeks, including a lot of rest days.

9/20/21 White Sox @ Tigers 5:40pm

So I tuned in with 2 outs in the 8th. My bad. -
Sheets was already on the 40 man. September 1 was also the day rosters expanded.

This is ranked by "First dose rate", the US is still high on second doses delivered but losing ground rapidly. India will pass the US shortly, as in the next 2 weeks or so.

Hypothetically...if the CBA forces a bunch of teams to meet a $100 million payroll, guys who are decent major leaguers who won't require long, multi-year deals could be in heavy demand because they can get you above the payroll limit and still be tradeable at the deadline. There's 12 teams in that range this year, so this could actually matter a lot.
-
So in other words, he can be on the postseason roster if Vaughn cannot return from the IL by that point.
-
I don’t disagree, but let’s imagine the payroll limit is $150 million next year. Bring back Lopez and Engel and they are already over that. So resign Leury and you have to remove $10 million from the payroll for scraps. Who do you drop to save Leury? Perhaps the payroll limit is much higher, but that’s the worst case scenario. What happens if someone offers Leury 3/$15? Would you match that?
-
At least this loss is on the players, not some inexplicable dugout decision. Lynn put runners on, Crochet gave up a hit, and the offense was bad.
-
Leury is not under contract for 2022. Y’all have to debate whether a utility guy is worth $3 or $4 million to this org next year. My current answer is that it depends on the CBA, whether they can move Kimbrel, and how willing JR is to spend, all things I don’t know.

Just think of the extra rest they all got.

All right, so the Cleveland elimination number is 6. White Sox have 1 game left in Texas and 3 in Detroit. Cleveland has 1 against New York and 4 with Kansas City. That totals 9. White Sox need a combination of 6 Sox Wins and Clevelander losses out of those 9. Otherwise, it comes down to that 5 game series in Cleveland. Want to see it end - there’s your spot. Probably first 2 games of that series: Would take some really strong effort by someone to prevent it. Hypothetically, Cleveland sweeps that 5 game series, and suddenly things would be real again. But yeah that would be one for the record books.
-
Well good Thing they didn’t.
-
I think Abreu is just getting pitched inside a lot and doesn’t make much of an effort to get out of the way. I didn’t think they were throwing at him.
-
How does he keep getting the first 2 outs and then struggle on the third?
-
Hospital bills and bounty payments.
