Call me crazy but, how about signing Frank Thomas for one game....let him throw out the first pitch...and then he can retire then and there as a White Sox player.
-
From multiple replays, after Swisher left his feet he was about 2 or 3 strides away from that ball. Anderson is way faster than Swish...so I'm just saying. He may have made a catch like he did to end Game 163.

I know it's only spring training, but is Brian Anderson a power hitting outfielder? Last season in limited playing time he launched, correct me if I'm wrong, 6 bombs. Is it possible that this guy was made to be a hitter he was not and now we are finally seeing his true self? I do like this guy and would love for him to be the everyday CF because he is just an awesome guy all around. He has had a tough task of replacing a White Sox fan great in A-Row, but I think with not high expectations he is finally flurishing. Ozzie should give him the job, screw the leadoff hitter because whoever is at second can fill that. For example: If Anderson was in center on Gavin Floyd's near no-hitter vs. the Twins, that ball hit by Mauer would have been caught. But anyways, does anyone else see him as a solid future power hitter on this club?

Wise at leadoff...ughhhhhhhhhhhhh....We went this path in the playoffs, and that worked out swell. (please note the sarcasim) It is staring them in the face, Gordon Beckham playing 2nd and leading off duh.

I got really choked up watching "Johnny 'Red' Kerr Night" and seeing what he really meant to this organization. It is a shame that the man finally makes the final cut for the Basketball Hall of Fame, and he could get in but not be there. Something is wrong with that selection process. Kerr reminded me of my grandfather, just that guy who could talk sports for hours and be the most friendly person too. Like Norm, we heard his frustration on-air but we heard his sure passion too. The shot over Ehlo, isn't so great without the great play by play of Durham and Kerr. In that one moment, that one play, that one shot; he said what every Bulls fan felt which was just exstatic joy.

We lose Norm Van Lier and now we lose the great Red Kerr, such a sad day for the Bulls and the Chicago community. www.bulls.com

didn't he just do pre game and post game for the bulls game last night?
-
I really was hurt by this news, made me very sad to hear this. There are some people in sports that come into your home and become part of your life. They relate to you as a former athlete and a current fan. In Chicago we have been blessed with many of these people. Norm Van Lier and Red Kerr are perfect examples of these guys as they have lived each game with the common fan. I think Bulls pregame just won't ever be the same, and Bulls basketball won't either. We still have Kerr but it doesn't look like for much longer. Stormin' Norm left a mark on my sports life, and he will be truly missed.

On SportsNite a few nights ago, they reported about Joe Crede signing with the Twins. During this segment they chatted with current White Sox players about their thoughts of the situation. When they got to Brian Anderson he said that the first time Joe comes to bat at in Chicago, he is going to "get him back with worse music than he got me with." From that Anderson said that he had, i think...not too sure, Barry Manilow played when he came to bat and it was all done by Crede. So what song do you think BA is going to throw down on Crede? My Idea Gene Honda: Number 24....Joe Crede Music: Wham! Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go.
-
Airing right now (started at 8pm) on the MLB Network is Opening Day 1981 against Boston. It is Carlton Fisk's first game as a White Sox in which he hits a game winning home run.

yah cuz Joe Crede is fielding at third. WGN is on their game I see.

Out of "your" Top Five White Sox moments....
wilmot825 replied to wilmot825's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There are some many moments that missed my list but i hold dear to my heart. -A.J./Barrett Brawl (I was there at the game and Brian Anderson going out there swinging at the Cubs gives him White Sox Legend status for me) -El Duque with the bases loaded -Konerko Grand Slam in the WS -Pods with the Walk-off in Game 2 -A.J. off Dempster in the 9th to stun the Cubs in Wrigley -Bo Jackson....Remember this one...Fist Pump Home Run -
After watching the highlights on mlb.com, I got chills down my spine and it brought a smile to my face. So after that I thought about my All-Time White Sox moments. And in the Top 5, this has to rank in there. What do you rank Game 163 in your moments? My Sox Moments 1) World Series Game 4 to win the Championship 2) Mark Buehrle's No Hitter 3) Game 2 ALCS A.J. "strike out" (just because of how odd it was) 4) Game 163 vs. Minn. 5) Carlos Lee tattoos a grand slam in the 11th to beat the Cubs in 2000

On the Final Word on Fox last night, Corey reported that Jose has lost 42lbs while recovering from the Achilles injury. And from the video they showed of him, he looks alot better than his previous Sox years. So how will this work out for him and the team?
-
There are some players you just admire what they do. And when you find guys like Mark Buehrle who play for the game more than the money, you appreciate them more. It seems like baseball is about fun and passion more than the dollar signs staring you in the face for Mark. I think if he walked away in 2011, he could become one of my All-Time favorite White Sox players. He has been stand-up guy his whole career, acting like a fan when it's time to trash talk (via. Twins 2008 calling them "s*** heads"), and never complaining about things. Sometimes a career stands out not by the number of years you play, but the way you conducted yourself while doing it. One last thing, who can forget those rain delays of entertaining Slip-n-Slides? Classic.

It is very possible but I don't think GMs are afraid to trade away who they think is finished. But if you a get a call from Kenny about a prospect you have about given up on, I think they'll work harder to pan him out now. Seeing how Kenny stole those 3 players, no other team wants that egg on their face now.

Nix is taking Juan Uribe and Sugar Ray Durham's number
-
Few things I would like to say, just a few. -Everything seemed to jump off his bat at a line drive angle. -Has solid balance in his stance and swing -Drives his hands through the ball and uses his hips well -I think Gordan and Dayan will be playing for this ballclub by late June I think Kenny has a fine eye for talent and this guy will prove it like the Cuban Missile did last year.

Food- Bartolo: He looks like a guy who can eat a million Chipotle burritos Beer- Bobby: If you're so drunk you set yourself on fire, you win. Hard Liq- Alexei: Yes, a VERY odd choice but he looks like that guy at the bar who swindles you out of money when it comes to a drinking bet.

I just saw on Sportsday that Jon Garland turned down the Angels arb. offer and that today he declined the $4m deal by Arizona. Does this mean he really does want to come back to Chicago or is he living in a fantasy world about an A.J. Burnett offer? I know his stats are better but there has to be something we are all missing, and I would love him back in Chicago as a #2 or 3.

I forgot one-time Sox player, David Wells
