  1. Wow, Oakland's best hitter in the lineup today is hitting just .276. And I thought we were bad.
  2. Like you said, 3 of his hits are HR (in 22 AB), so that's pretty impressive. Plus, he's hitting .348 (8 for 23) over the last 7 days with 6 RBI, so I guess JM wants to stick with the hot hand.

When you expect that much, you're bound to be disappointed. Where did you leave room for a disappointing season from someone? Seems like you wanted everyone to perform up to their ability. That's a nice thought, but also a completely unrealistic thought.

http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,1,2742,00.html Just because you live in a communist country that does not allow freedom of speech, don't go bashing a show just because it's controversial. Shockey said what he said regardless of the venue, and your "Stern's show is not credible" argument is BS because he's said it more than once. Wait, maybe the interview was scripted and those lines by Jeremy were written by Fred and Stuttering John.
  5. Colon went through a bad stretch that really hurt his ERA, and his wins are as low as they are largely due to playing on a sub-.500 team for the first 3 months of the season. If you look at who the Sox gave up to get Colon, there's no way you can't call this trade anything but a success.

You're right, he won't win 20, but we could very well have 3 guys with 15+ wins. I don't know about you, but if you told me that back in April, I would have been quite happy with it.
  7. The Colon and Alomar trades were big, and both were not busts.
  8. Is that a serious question? We were 41-42 before Alomar joined us and played. Since, we are 19-12. You tell me if we're better.

If you want to see a movie of hers just to see her because she's hot, rent Gia, grab a box of Kleenex, and enjoy. She's naked for practically the whole movie.

Are you sure you aren't confusing it with "Pirates of the Caribbean"? Because Jerry Bruckheimer did "The Rock" (also probably my favorite movie ), as well as some other very good movies, such as Armageddon and Enemy of the State. If there's 1 movie I'd recommend that's come out in the last few months, it would be "Pirates...". Johnny Depp is incredible in it, and it's extremely well done. I think it should win some Academy Awards. 3.5 stars IMO.
  11. Yeah. She's gonna write a book instead. That will make her more money according to what I heard.

Since you have a picture of Jeremy Shockey in your signature, and you seem to be so pro-gay, I thought you should know something. He was being interviewed recently, and the interviewer was talking to him about Bill Parcells. Jeremy said (cut and pasted from ESPN.com)... "He says he quits, then he wants to come back and coach," Shockey said in the interview. "Do something. Stay in commentary or stay in football or get the hell out of everybody's life. Let's see how much Parcells wins this year," Shockey is quoted as saying about the former Giants coach in the magazine issue that will be released Monday. "I'll make him pay when we play them. The homo." And before you say "Well, athletes get roped into saying stuff all the time, he didn't really mean it", take a look at some of his comments made in late 2002 when asked about gays in the NFL. Cut and pasted from www.outsports.com ... There are presently no openly gay players in the NFL. New York Giants rookie tight end Jeremy Shockey hopes it stays that way. In a Sept. 10 interview on The Howard Stern radio show, Shockey was asked on-air by producer Gary Del 'Abate if he thought there were any gay players in the NFL. "I don't know, I don't like to think about that. I hope not," Shockey said. When asked if he ever dealt with any gay teammates on his college football team, Shockey gave a somewhat confusing answer: "No, I mean, if I knew there was a gay guy on my college football team, I probably wouldn't, you know, stand for it." Stern's sidekick Robin Quivers replied: " How could you not stand for it? What do you mean?" Shockey said, "You know, I think, you know, they're going to be in the shower with us and stuff, so I don't think that's gonna work. That's not gonna work, you know?" -------------------- Added Shockey: "The show is at 7:30 in the morning and it's just to entertain people that just wake up. I definitely wouldn't say anything like that on a more serious show, like '2-0/20.' So I guess you could say it was a mistake on my part and I'm not prejudiced against anybody's beliefs. It's Howard Stern. He sets you up in bad situations. I'll know next time." I'm glad to see he's a man who takes responsibility for his actions So, my question to you is how much longer will you promote a man who "wouldn't stand" for someone being gay? http://espn.go.com/nfl/news/2003/0808/1592493.html
  16. Who are the two dimwits that think Jennifer Lopez is the hottest chick in the world? :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke :puke
  17. Those choices are pretty crappy IMO. Should have been more. I think my "hottest chick" changes monthly, but right now I'd have to go with Tiffany Amber Thiessen. But over the past few years, my overall hottest has got to be Pam Anderson. She's a goddess among mere mortals. And yes, I realize that Pam smokes, has tattoos, probably excess piercings, and she's been with quite a few dudes. But like I said before, my rule is no different than any other rule -- there are exceptions for certain chicks.
  18. I sense a budding romance between the two of you.
  19. I actually got them from Bravo's website for QEFTSG. I just did a search on Google for the show, and the page came up. Hope you got some laughs.
  20. I prefer kicking fairies. = Spiff?
  21. I thought this was Sox Talk, not WSI. I didn't know that the moderators here were dictators too.
  22. The Sox could-not-have-picked-up-Nelson. I heard the explanation on ESPN Radio as to how it works, but I just can't remember all the details. But, the Yanks and M's had this deal worked out, and no other team could have jumped in and f***ed it up. Don't you think Boston would have tried to ruin it if they could have? That is BS. I live in Oregon, and the Ms GM said if any team had picked him up, they would have pulled him back from the waiver wire. In that case, they could not trade him. Sorry, but you are wrong. If the information I told you is wrong, it's ESPN that's wrong, not me. I think they know more about it than both of us.

  24. Nope, it doesn't work that way. I'm not sure how to explain it because I'm not fully sure of how it works, but a team is allowed to "protect" a player that is put on waivers, so they can have first dibs on him in the event that he is released. Both the Yankees and M's agreed ahead of time that they would swap players, so no other team had a shot at claiming them. Officially it goes down as 2 players being picked up off of waivers, but effectively it was a trade.
