QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) I have only had one Blu-Ray from Blockbuster fail to play for me in 3 years. I really like Blockbuster, although I don't think they are as far ahead with the streaming as Netflix is. I don't use streaming, so I should be fine. What is the turnaround for Blockbuster, though? If I put a Netflix DVD in the mail Monday night, I'd get my next one on Thursday. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 05:39 PM) Thor or XMen First Class? Tough call. I loved them both, but most people would probably say X-Men.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 04:47 PM) True. You just have to wonder how smart a guy Robin Ventura is to charge Nolan Ryan. I'm not flaming. I know nothing about him personally and wish him well as our skipper, but he deserves all the ridicule he gets for that fight. He got owned. He knew he was going to lose, but he had to do it anyway to defend himself and his teammates. I recall an interview where he said that he was running to the mound thinking, "What am I doing?" the whole time. -
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 10:58 AM) minute scratches + dvd no working = hardware Just got my third straight DVD that skips. This one, I couldn't even see a scratch on it. I cleaned it and tried it on all 3 of the DVD players in the house (an old one in my bedroom, my slightly-older-than-one-year-old player in the living room, and my roommates brand new PS3). It skipped on each one of them. f*** Netflix right in its ass. I am done with it. Blockbuster, here I come.

2011 NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers

QUOTE (Cali @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Right up until Prince signs with the Cubs (or really anyone, that'll kill any bragging rights really. Losing a superstar player) I meant the players, not the fans. -
Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) FWIW The cross country coach for one of our other middle schools is from Chicago and a White Sox fan. Imagine that, two guys a few miles from the Mexico border, chatting Sox baseball. Last season we were both wearing Sox caps at a race. Anyway, we always talk a little baseball while our teams are running. He likes the hiring. Thinks Robin will manage more conservatively and add some professionalism and a working harder ethos to the organization. So, when does he get his chance at managing the Sox? -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 10:52 AM) He probably wouldnt give specific examples of why Satan would be a good manager either. I bet he would. -
2011 NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers

I've said it before, but as much as I'd like to root for the Brewers, I feel like they would become unbearable and full of themselves if they won. -

There are so many problems with the court system. There's no justice like angry mob justice.

QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 01:16 PM) Ozzie's behavior created this. This is the most truthful statement in the thread.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 07:27 AM) Actually PK really did say it was time for Ozzie to go if you listened to what he was saying. I know that's what he insinuated, but it was more like a "every manager has to go at some point." Completely PC. He's never going to call someone out, especially his new manager, even if it were Satan himself. -
White Sox Bench Coach Search Thread

QUOTE (IamPabloOzuna @ Oct 8, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/10/07/11/Sox-req...&feedID=621 It's Mark Parent Seriously? With a manager that has no experience at all, we'd hire a bench coach that has no major league coaching history? That's about right. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 10:49 PM) 1.) I think she is prolly hotter than Mrs. T, but I could be mistaken. 2.) Wow milkman backs me on an issue. I forgot about Yes Dear and she was hot in that as well. It happens on occasion : -
2011 NLDS St. Louis Cardinals vs. Philadelphia Phillies Thread
Milkman delivers replied to Brian's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 10:24 PM) Soooo glad Philly got knocked out. Not sure what the deal with Ryan was...trying to soften the boos he knew he was gonna get. I don't know about anybody else...but Philadelphia is probably my LEAST liked city for any sports teams. I can't stand a one of them. Oh yes, those fans suck. I already forgot, but they cheered something today that upset me. Nothing but the exact opposite of class. -
Is there anything of substance to the 150+ posts I missed? If so, I'll go back and read it. But if it's just quibbling back and forth about Cowley, I'm not interested.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 07:53 PM) Yeah, because we were so expecting Konerko to come out and rip management. I mean he does so all the time. Paul Konerko didn't even say anything negative about Ozzie after he was gone. When Ozzie lovers tried to use that a defense, they were quickly and correctly shouted down by people saying that Konerko would never say anything negative. Now, the tables are turned and people are using it like it's going to mean something? -

QUOTE (Wanne @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) I agree with greg. not a great picture at all...but I think she's very attractive. Yes I would. In. A. Heartbeat. And it would probably have to involve some begging... She was on Yes, Dear (I grew to really like that show in syndication in college). She's very hot in it. -

Awesome. I now have no team to root against in the playoffs, but I'll be rooting for either AL team. -
When it's all said and done, people are going to say that KW was, at one point, a very good GM and that he got caught up in making splashes and "flying under the radar" so much that it overtook his baseball acumen and ruined his ability to be a GM.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
Milkman delivers replied to Steve9347's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 11:29 AM) Why would you say they are similar? Everyone who has commented on this that knows Robin are saying he was easily the most respected player on the teams he was on. Even Joey (Ozzies Buttplug) Cora came out and said he was more respected in the locker room. Managing a team of players who have vets who dont really need much managing and players that already respect the guy since he's been around with them the last few years shouldnt be that hard. I love this hire, much more than if it was TLR or Sandy. They are both quiet, respected guys who are not good with the media and are supposedly subtle leaders in the clubhouse. -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) Read the thread Cowley appears to have been proven correct about the dysfunction. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things, but isn't that true. Everyone knew about the dysfunction. And if that's your best defense of him...

QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Oct 7, 2011 -> 11:23 AM) I also don't know why people use Joe Torre as an example. As a player/manager or a manager with the New York Mets, (when he first started) he had a proud .425 winning percentage. Thank you!
