I find it sickening that Cooper isn't allowed to go over the head of his boss, but that's exactly what Ozzie did and it couldn't be more acceptable.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) I liked pretty much everything about XMen First class except for Beast's CGI face/mouth, and the misuse of Azazel. I thought Kevin Bacon was chilling as Sebastian Shaw, the scene where he draws out Magneto's power as a young boy was awesome/horrifying Don't know anything about the character. How was he misused?

Sox OF could look different in '12

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) You know, that IS a good point. Come to think of it, we could find the money to re-sign Buerhle AND keep Danks AND get the pitching prospects we need if we just traded Peavy for prospects instead of Danks. Also, we should have a big, beautiful cake to show off in CF all year, but also eat it, too. Now we're cooking' with gas. -
Back off, you two. I don't want to start handing out suspensions.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 11:42 AM) I don't understand why people keep saying stuff like this. You can't trade Rios, Peavy, or Dunn because no one wants them. Being a GM isn't as easy as 'keep all the good players and trade the bad ones.' You must be a buffoon. The Sox would be amazing next year if they just traded Rios and signed Albert Pujols. Jerry Reinsdorf is a rich man. I'm sure he can afford it. -
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 11:24 AM) I wonder if coming up short in two WS in a row where Texas should be the favorite again will cost Washington his job. The Cards don't bother me, I have disliked the Rangers since the Doug Rader "winning ugly" and Ryan vs Ventura debacle, plus, I don't want Dubya's team to win it all. Cards bullpen get's greedy, St. Louis in 6. I don't care if he loses the World Series 10 years in a row. I don't think you can fire a guy for getting you to the championship unless he does something incredibly stupid to lose it.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) The only kicking butt stuff for Rios is out the door. He should be traded and we keep Quentin, who doesn't need any butt kicking to perform It's just that easy. Please stop saying things like this. It's not going to happen because this isn't a video game. -
There's a thread entirely devoted to the Cubs in the Diamond Club

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 09:35 AM) Good. F*** ESPN. If I had to choose a team to root for, I'd choose Texas, just because they've never won it before. If Cards win, I'd be happy too. A great way for Pujols to possibly end his Cards career. I would think that winning the World Series would greatly improve the chances for the Cardinals to re-sign Pujols.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 10:42 AM) I thought the Walking Dead was a pretty big disappointment really. The commercials were incredibly annoying and broke up any momentum the show had going into the last 45 minutes. The scene on the highway, while good, was too contrived. Bottled up highway, RV breaks down....gee I wonder what will happen. Also found it odd that Rick melee'd the two zombies after the kid, but only after he ran away....why not do it right there where the kid is so you don't lose sight of her? I'd give it a B-. Too slow for my liking, especially after the first half hour, and especially for a series premiere. Well, perhaps he considered that, while he was tangling with one zombie, the other would turn its sights on the girl and he would be unable to stop it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 08:44 AM) Ha, I haven't thought about that movie in a decade at least. Damn that was a funny movie. Could not disagree more. Incredibly unfunny.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 01:00 AM) Since Idont have cable I streamed it online and just finished it, there was a solid 65 minutes of airtime, so that's not a bad ratio, but I don't know how they broke that up. Good start to the season, though there was most definitely a difference in the graphics, it seemed like there was a lot more cheap animations in there than before. And it sucks that the news the doc gave Rick doesn't seem to be good news at all. I'm pretty sure I know what the secret is after doing just a little research into the comics. I won't even put the answer in here as a spoiler, but let's say that

2011 NLCS: St. Louis Cardinals vs. Milwaukee Brewers
Milkman delivers replied to Milkman delivers's topic in The Diamond Club
Strange that that happened two years in a row (Molina last season) and both times with the Rangers. And yeah, f*** Greinke. -
I'm already liking the addition of William Forsythe on Boardwalk Empire. And what is it with the best shows on TV having the main women be completely unforgivable b****es (Boardwalk Empire, SOA, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, and even Dexter with both Deb and La Guerta)?

QUOTE (Felix @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 09:49 PM) Definitely agreed about the commercials. If this continues next week, I'm just going to start torrenting them right after the episodes air. It was absurd. I don't even think my line about 40 minutes of commercials was an exaggeration.
-
Walking Dead was pretty good, but I could have done without all of the commercials. Hour and a half episode, but about 40 minutes of commercials. I swear at one point they returned from commercials, had a minute-long conversation, and went right back to commercials.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 15, 2011 -> 01:30 AM) Tony LaRussa is one win from being a lock for the Hall of Fame. Wow. This Cardinals team is possibly headed to the WS? It does give the Sox hope in the Ventura era even with a horrible roster. GO SOX! La Russa is a lock for the HOF already, and has been for years. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 05:25 PM) Ozzie Guillen, 2003: "Obviously you want to make money in your job, but this job is not about money. It’s about winning." He was serious that time, but only joking at the last press conference. -greg -
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) I'd be okay with this only if the Sox could score some runs to support these guys. And I agree... if they aren't doig well by All Star break, then you trade Peavy, Danks and Floyd, Thornton and Crain, and then go into full blown rebuild mode. It's be nice to fleece desperate teams at the trade deadline too. People are already deciding that they'll be OK with starting a rebuild by the midpoint of next season, but when that time comes, they'll just say to do the same thing in 2013.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Nah. The frequency of posts for BB is unparalleled. But I don't wanna read any possible spoilers for _____, so I should alter where people talk about it. If you aren't watching it live, tough s***. That's the risk you run. I'm watching The Wire right now. If people start discussing it, I'll skip it.

Should be a thread for every show then.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 07:37 AM) No joke. He was a pretty solid writer, and made excellent use of twitter. I wonder what the deal was? That is bulls***, especially with trash like Cowley still around.
