QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 11:14 AM) Golf is a sport, just a lame one. It's based on physical actions. Poker is a game. This. -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Who really cares about Louis Farrakhan? I thought he was dead.

Poker is not a sport in any sense. I just want to clarify that. -
I just read Alan Sepinwall's writeup, and I'm glad that he shares some of the exact same ideas. http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/whats-alan-wat...t-chili-coppers

Sons is getting extremely predictable and formulaic, I think. I'd be surprised if anyone at all didn't see . It'll get the guys who were against being mules for the cartel to jump right on board, and you could see it all coming a the very second that . The first two seasons were really great, and this season is still enjoyable and entertaining, but it's the same damn crap every episode. It's either some convenient solution introduced each episode that you can see coming (like today) or some deus ex machina s***. And why the f*** would that wealthy guy trust Clay again after he's f***ed him over several times already? He wouldn't. Some of the characters are becoming inconsistent.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 07:21 PM) I love love love the fact that the Meth was blue on The Walking Dead. That's a nice little tip of the cap to their AMC brethren. When did that happen? When Daryl took out his brother's stash?

QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:35 PM) My in-laws have a newspaper that shows the listing of their house when they bought it. On the exact same page there is a listing of my parents' house. We lived there until I was in the 3rd grade. See, that's cool s***.

Two sports, same cities, same day

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:18 PM) I'm pretty confident the hawks, sox, and bulls all played detroit teams on the same day not too long ago. So 2 had to be in the same city. I remember that, but I think it might have been in the same weekend, so not necessarily. -
Haha, I can't believe Jordan Danks is the center of so much discussion. I've said it before and will repeat what SS2k5 has already mentioned in this thread. Jordan Danks is only ever mentioned because he is the younger brother of John Danks. He will amount to little, if anything, at the major league level. I couldn't care less if they decide they want to protect him or not.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) love. post. Thanks. I wanted to say winged Pegasus...Pegasi...Pegasuses, but it would have been redundant.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:46 PM) It isn't. Pretty much nothing from the trailer is in the movie. And I'm not exaggerating. The 3rd was an utter disappointment. Still scary as s*** with a lot of jumpy terrifying moments, but it didn't explain a whole lot in regards to the first 2. Wait, what? I assume you mean that the only good parts were in the trailer.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:48 PM) And more reputable studies say he's fine. Or at bigger risk due to going through airport security. Theo Epstein doesn't travel by airplane. It's not that he is afraid of flying, he simply rides a flaming chariot pulled by winged, white horses.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:23 PM) How about placing a man on the moon and getting him back to earth? That's gotta be up there, but that isn't exactly something that happened by chance.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:27 PM) Herbert Perry not delivering? I said unlikely, not impossible.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) You're welcome. I absolutley loved it. Anywho, The Trip was fun. I didn't love it though. It had its funny moments and I loved all the impressions, but as someone said, the ending was abrupt and in general, it was kind of depressing. Transformers 3 was awesome. I don't give a s*** what you say or how much you hate it, those movies are entertaining as all hell. I've got Thor and X-Men: First Class coming tomorrow. Now, to the important stuff: HAS NO ONE ELSE SEEN PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 3?????? You're in for a treat with those two. I haven't seen any of the Paranormal Activity movies and wasn't even interested in them, but this new one looks a lot better than the others did.

Reinsdorf’s U.S. Cellular Field Lease In Jeopardy?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:17 PM) Not sure, but equity is still not profit. They are seperate things. Also FYI, JR is not the biggest owner of the team by financial stake. He represents the group as the President of sorts, but he is not the #1 guy in terms of how much of the team he owns. I've been aware of that for a long time, but I've always wondered who was the biggest shareholder. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:09 PM) Really though...the White Sox have been in the bottom half of MLB in attendance every year for the last 5 years (last year they were in the top 10 was 2006)...and yet they've been in the top 7 (or higher) in payroll every year since the Series win except for 2009. That behavior is not the norm. But, is it also not the norm to have such an incredibly low rent and such a large profit from parking? -
Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
Milkman delivers replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I was just afraid that someone was going to come in saying that Frank is being a prima donna and airing it in public to coerce the team into hiring him. I guess there's still time for somebody to make that argument. Marty? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:56 PM) I'm dying to find out the real answer! Can you remember ever hearing a story and thinking how incredibly unlikely it was? JUST GIVE ME SOMETHING TO WORK WITH, PEOPLE!
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) Things that seem extraordinarily unlikely can become more likely when you change the circumstances. 6 miles of atmosphere is a long way for a meteor . Is this whole thing because I said "meteor" instead of "meteorite"?

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Why? What does Theo owe him? Sandberg's got a good thing going in Phillie, Theo can use that as an excuse and go get a guy he actually wants. He doesn't owe him anything, but the media and fan backlash from hiring Martinez over Sandberg would probably be rather large. It might just be easier to go in another direction entirely. You realize that Sandberg's wife is one of the players' wives that Martinez f***ed and that it's general knowledge, right?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 02:00 PM) There are two things you can do with profits. As an investor you can take them and go home, or you can reinvest them. Say the Sox had a $25 million profit in 2010. If they walked away, they would be gone from the organization. If they get reinvested, the capital in the Sox goes up $25 million, which shows up as $25 million more that is out there for the team to use. Instead of starting from a position of $0, they start from $25 million. Honestly I am not familiar with the way other organizations are run, but I would imagine most teams reinvest their profits. Most people make their money when their organization sells, not on a year to year basis when it comes to professional sports. That is what I was getting at. We seem to blow our owners for reinvesting like it's some unheard of occurrence in the baseball world, but it seems to be the norm. -

Milkman delivers replied to justBLAZE's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Before anyone jumps on Frank for this, after reading the article twice, it seems pretty clear that Cowley went to him and finagled an answer out of him and turned it into "Frank is asking to be the hitting coach and the Sox aren't listening."
