  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) Don't give Wite any credit. He blows. I can still give him credit. I mean, the sun shines on a dog's ass once in a while.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 1, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) Has anybody ever thought of what Whitesox baseball would be without Hawk? I'm not looking forward to the day Hawk either retires/dies. I'm going to cry like a little b**** when there's no more Hawk. I'm certain that Hawk could be replaced by a guy working a soundboard and nobody would know the difference. In fact, I would like it if whoever replaces Hawk uses a sound clip for home run calls.
  3. I noticed that he didn't respond to Wite's well-thought-out post. I'm so glad we have the ability to ignore posters.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 07:53 PM) Let's take turns listing Hawkisms. One at a time. I'll go first. "Get foul. It will." There's also: "Stay fair. It won't." "Get foul. It won't." "Stay fair. It will." That is followed by the old "You can put it on the board...YES!" I see quite a few that haven't been mentioned yet, but I'll give others a chance.

QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) It's John Hurt, but yeah he's grown to look a lot like McKellen. I know. As soon as Northside mentioned him, I couldn't believe I didn't figure it out already.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) Without checking IMDB, that looks like John Hurt of Alien and Contact fame. Ah, I don't know how I thought that was McKellen. I've seen like 10 movies with John Hurt in the last few months. Then again, I've been uncharacteristically tired the last week or so...
  7. I don't exactly get the premise of Louie. I watched both episodes, and had some laughs, but I'm guessing there will be no continuity in the show.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 07:52 PM) It's a great move to trade Flowers and Hudson for Dunn, but only if we win 2/3 against the Royals as opposed to 1/3...so we're going to base our decision on giving up 12 years of service time for 4 months based on potentially 1 game against the Royals? Makes perfect sense... Yes, that's exactly what I said.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 30, 2010 -> 12:45 AM) Yeah, Pena this year and Vizcaino in '05 is a pretty good comparison. I guess Vizcaino just stood out as "bad" since the rest of the pen was basically ridiculous, although Marte had a mega high WHIP IIRC and was for sure falling off. Speaking of whipping boys who probably didn't deserve it in our fanbase, Damaso Marte. He was absolutely awesome in 2002 and 2003, even 2004 was pretty good. But he just drove everybody nuts. It would be a tough call to name a whipping boy for 2005. Timo, Vizcaino, and Marte were the top 3. Vizcaino did not deserve it. I believe Marte did. It seemed that every time he came in with inherited runners, they all scored. And when he came in with the bases empty, he'd put a few guys on and one of the studs of that year (Cotts, Politte, or Hermanson) would come in and clean up his mess.

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) It's pretty typical Sandler fare - some physical comedy, lots of guys ragging on each other, and a handful of nice moments. You're not going to come out of it saying it was the funniest thing ever, but you have a good time. I understand what you mean, but I think it should be clarified that those types of movies are the recent Sandler fare. I now pronounce you Chuck & Larry, Bedtime Stories, etc. are examples of that. His movies from the 1990's (Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, The Waterboy, Big Daddy) were flat out hilarious and weren't family oriented at all.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 12:00 PM) The Harry Potter 7 trailer is out. OK, is that Ian McKellen in the scene right after they show all of the kids and a goblin (or troll or whatever) on the broom? It looks like him, but I can't find anything about him being in it.
  12. I'm not going to read 16 pages, so I'm going to just join in the thread. This would be a f***ing great move. But if we lose this series to the Royals...well, I just don't know what to think.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 29, 2010 -> 08:42 AM) I know this is insensitive but my first thoughts were "The Tigers just got a smidge less dangerous". Exactly the same thing I thought.
  14. I didn't really know who Katy Perry was before this thread, so I looked her up back then and thought she was just pretty. After seeing those new pictures, I am a very big Katy Perry fan.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 11:52 AM) You really have a habit of interjecting pointless comments into debates that took place days ago. Maybe you could try adding something of substance for once. Edit: Or at least a bit more often. It's too easy to make me look like a fool when you take things out of context the next day. Take a f***ing joke.

QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 09:54 AM) You're the first I heard that from. The movie has to be a family comedy.
  17. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 28, 2010 -> 08:35 AM) The biggest hole in this team is a potent left handed bat. Not only isn't there a single LH power hitter on the 40 man roster, but there really isn't one in the entire organization. This glaring deficiency has become even more apparent with Teahen's injury, although he really isn't that good to begin with. It's important to have a least one LH threat because pitchers just get too comfortable facing one right handed hitter after another. Moreover, late in the game, this team's lineup doesn't force the opposing manager to make any lefty-righty match ups, unless of course there is a left handed starter. Does he really need to go to the bullpen to bring in a left handed reliever to face A.J., Kotsay, or Teahen? It would be interesting to research how many teams have ever made it deep into the post season without at least one dangerous left handed hitter. I can't think of one, can you? So, who is out there, and who could the Sox afford to give up in exchange? Many of you have mentioned Dunn, Fielder, La Roche, Markakis, Shin-Soo Choo and A. Gonzales. Perhaps K.W. should target a younger player who hasn't yet completely established himself, as the others would cost too much, both in players sacrificed and salary owed. I mentioned Chris Davis some time ago, and I still think that he's a good candidate. Texas needs pitching, and Davis is blocked by Smoak at 1B. They have Davis playing a lot of 3B at AAA. He had a great half season for the Rangers a couple of years ago, when he was just 22, and he's tearing up AAA this year. I understand that he has struggled a bit with his big swing, but he's young enough to make adjustments. Perhaps the Sox could offer Garcia. He could help the Rangers rotation, and the Sox have Hudson to take Freddy's place as the 5th starter. If Davis is not the answer, then I'd search for a similar young LH power hitter who could fill that void, not only this year, but for several years to come. The 2005 Chicago White Sox.
  18. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 10:28 PM) really wite? find where I have said this team was done.. how about find where I said that they are still garbage despite beating up on the NL.. you cant, because I didn't f***ing say that or act that way.. why is it so f***ing off the wall to want to see them put together some streaks against the AL? you act like i just sit here and bash them or something.. gimme a f***ing break.. they need to start beating the teams they should beat, the clevelands and kansas citys of the world, and perform against their own league before I start throwing a party like most of you people.. you'll be the same ones cursing this team if they fall again.. Nipples.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 01:14 PM) Wrong. Baseball is not basketball. It's like my world is crashing around me.
  20. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jun 27, 2010 -> 12:17 PM) I do not see anything wrong with wearing a 20k path on your arm during your 20,000 game. Ties Neither do I, and that's why I didn't say anything about it being wrong. I said it's pathetic that it's the one thing they can even flaunt.
  21. Is Luke Gregerson somebody that will actually have a successful career in the bigs, or just another fluke reliever?
  22. My cousin and I noticed that the Cubs had "20,000" on their sleeves, but we didn't know what it meant. We asked a friend of ours who's a Cubs fan and apparently it's because they're the first team to play 20,000 games. How sad is it that that's the one thing they're proud of at this point? I know we all hate the Cubs and mock them whenever possible, but it really can't be emphasized enough how pathetic that franchise is.
  23. That line smacks of sarcasm. I can't believe anyone on Earth could think otherwise.
  24. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) The New York Metropolitans are my favorite squadron. 1.5 back The NY Mets are my favorite squadron.
  25. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 08:02 PM) Fix it. Derrek Lee's name is also spelled incorrectly.
